Not happy as was tryin to get baby to settle! That's 1 direct debit that Will be cancelled! Shame the after sales people ruined their chance to have a sponsor!
- Caller: Maggies cancer charity
- MarkHow did these people get my number they keep on phoning me about every 30mins from 5pm until 9pm
- Robertthis number has been calling me for the lats week now in the morning and evening
- DorkingGal| 5 repliesIf you've had a door banging young chap/chapess getting you to sign up for a direct debit for any of the large charities, then this is the management company that employs them on behalf of the charity. They are ringing to check that their representatives were nice and did a good job by co-oercing you to part with £10 a month you can't afford to pay.
I got collared by the Red Cross yesterday. Their door callers are so damned nice that you just can't say no to them.... now I've got to cancel the DD!- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Cardinal-cin| 4 repliesA good fella from the Red Cross knocked the door last week, a bit cheeky but he got less for his cheek:)
Never in my life have I signed up for a charity so I thought it was about time I did.... Unfortunately I have had calls on my work phone at some awkward times since.... DD will be canceled as a result of handing my number to other charity's...
Bad tactics!!!!!- Caller: Abco Group Support
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Response replies to Cardinal-cin| 3 repliesYour number was not handed to any other charities. The call is to confirm your experience with the person at your door was a pleasent one and the information you were provided was not misleading in any way. It is a welcome call.
- Response replies to meganIt is a call to thank you for signing up to donate to a charity recently. It is not a sales or nuisance call, it is simply to make sure you had a good experience.
- Peter| 1 replyAm receiving calls every evening even though we have cancelled the Red Cross monthly donation my wife first agreed to. Tried calling it back but all you get is music being played. I presume the only way to stop these calls is report the number and company
- Caller: Some charity marketing company
- EricI can confirm this is Abco. I have been receiving about 6 calls a day which I now stop with a call blocker but I still know when they have attempted to call me. I rang and told their operator about this and said that I had never had any dealings with charities and would they stop calling. Next day was fine and then I had a call on Saturday morning. I rang them again and after confirming my phone number they asked me if I was (named person) and I said it was not me. It may be that this named person gave my number by mistake. I have now told Abco that I will be speaking to their manager/supervisor on Monday to sort this out once and for all. I also told them that each time I was called I would be contacting the Direct Marketing Commission to register a complaint.
- Caller: Abco
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Eric replies to PeterI only had to hold with the music for about 30 seconds each time I contacted Abco. Asking them to remove my number from their system didn't work and I intend ringing and asking for their supervisor (their operator told me they have one who works weekdays). Hope this helps.
- EricUpon further investigation, I think the firm is called Appco (not Abco) Group Support. Certainly from their website they have the tie-in with the Red Cross.
- Caller: Appco
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- EricRe my previous 2 posts, I emailed Appco and received a reply from the Senior Call Centre Manager, Glendan Evarts (address gevarts@appcogroup.co.uk). He has been very helpful and apologetic and told me that my number had been removed from their system. He also said that their call centre staff had been retrained on the issue of repeat calls. Since then I have had no further calls from them. If anyone is having similar problems, I would suggest contacting Glendan to sort things out. Hope this helps.
- Caller: Appco Group

- SJ| 1 replyI have received a call from this number today, it was on behalf of the British Red Cross, just to see that the lady that asked for donation was appropriate etc. I have checked the number as i was expecting a call but not from this number, it clearly was who they said.
Here is a thought, if you don't want calls, don,t give your number out, if you don,t want to give to charity say no. Don't waste time and resource by saying yes and then having second thoughts. They have as much right to check you out as you do them. - BH| 1 replyI signed up for the Red Cross at the door the other night. This is indeed the welcome call from Appco Group Support.
I usually don't sign up for anything at the door, but as others say, it is difficult to say no when the people selling the charity appear so nice.
I did some research about Appco Group support after signing up, and they have some pretty bad reports for exploiting their workers, and they get at least £80 of the £10 donation - so you are essentially paying them rather than the charity anyway. You are much better than signing up with the charity directly. Having said that, I will be donating to someone other than the Red Cross (as I don't approve of them using Appco Group for fundraising.)
During the welcome call I asked to cancel the direct debit, and they said it would be done straight away. Hopefully I won't get any more calls from them now.- Caller: Appco Group Support
- Call type: Telemarketer
- BensonsireGot a call from a lady at 7.15pm asking to speak to my wife about a donation she had made recently. I passed the phone to my wife and the caller rang off. It appears that it referred to a D/D she had taken out to the Red Cross via a door stop young person employed by APPCO.
- Caller: Did not say

- wtf replies to DorkingGal| 1 replyok i dont get people like you.you have the balls to come on here and say you were "coearsed" and what not, do you have a free will? no matter how nice people may seem its entirely your choice to give your details over and choose to donate.you CHOSE to do it.dont give excuses that they were so nice and whatever, they didnt put a gun to your bloody head.i agree the frequent calling is a bloody nightmare, but what i really dont get is all you people who complain that you where in some way tricked into these things, this is your bank details and personal info we are talking about.if your that easily led on and irresponsible then dont blame anyone for you sigining up for a donation and then going on and cancelling.r
- wtf replies to SJthank you sir.your 100% correct.these lambs are just so dam complacent.
- Person replies to BHYou should probably take a little more time to look into the money Appco has worked hard to raise for it's numerous charity partners. As for exploiting it's employees, maybe you shouldn't believe everything you read, or at least research further.
Unless you and your army of people are willing to volunteer your time on a daily basis to help raise funds for charities, I would try to refrain from damaging the reputation of business that do it in a respectable and ethical way.
Good day
