Report a phone call from 02079882212476 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Jack| 1 replyJust wondering if this number is also connected to 0123364877
- Nan| 1 replyHave done a bit of searching on the internet, based on a previous poster saying this lot called themselves "The Vertical Church of Christ". Google has lots of entries for this "church" but, as most of the entries are made by the originator, it is impossible to get anything unbiased. Anyway, it seems the "church" was started by James MacDonald and his wife, from Ontario, Canada, in 1988. He was apparently a Baptist minister before that. They claim to have about 70 "churches" in North America and "around the world". There is one Google entry for their "church" in Ghana. There is no mention of their unpleasant telephone calls (surprise, surprise) and, obviously nothing to suggest that they are, in fact, a cult. Reading some of the entries, they certainly go in for psychobabble and a very skewed take on Christianity.
- Caller: Vertical Church of Christ
- AndyWould be worth reporting to Met Police or CrimeStoppers.
- Proper Scared| 4 repliesThese people have been calling me non stop for weeks telling me to submit to their authority and screaming down the phone at me, often at the middle of the night or early on Sunday!!! They demanded I tell them where I live and after doing so I had people knocking at my door all hours attempting to get in! They tried to open my window from the outside after I told them to go away. I'm frightened and don't know what to do.
- Caller: Persistent Abuser
- Call type: Prank
- Nan replies to Proper ScaredRing your local police and tell them about the attempted break in. Remember, these revolting cultists cannot make you do anything. By coming to your home and attempting to break in they have crossed the line and have committed a criminal offence.
- Bishop replies to Proper ScaredNext time they try to harrass you, take a video of them while they attempt to break into your residence, call the police and submit the video as evidence of their harrassment and trespass.
- Liam| 5 repliesI too was called by Reverend Davenport and he conducted a Sunday Mass service over the phone. He has a particular concern that the church involve the coming generation in its worship: namely, making room for children in the sacred hour. His theological bent is neo-Orthodox and through his service I now fully comprehend the overwhelming and surprising grace of God. I don't understand why there are negative comments on this site - as I found the experience to be first rate.
- Nan replies to Liam| 4 repliesLiam, you were on this site some time ago (unfortunately several posts have been removed). In that post you reported that the Davenport person was shouting and screaming at you and that you were afraid. In your second post you said you had changed your 'phone number to avoid further calls. Strangely enough, the wording of this post is almost word for word that used by Melissa Stewart who started this thread. The mistake she made, as the first poster, is even reproduced by you "I don't understand why there are negative comments on this site". Obviously, as she was the first poster that comment did not make sense. Given all the above I suspect you are the Davenport/Pastor John/Eleanor entity using a fake name. The reasons for posts being removed from a thread are that, apart from them being abusive, they all come from the same IP address. Perhaps that is why the posts from Davenport/pastor John/Eleanor and yourself have been removed.
- themMaybe he means it's some sort of ghost?
Maybe that's what the Beast is, a ghost! - AshtonLooks like they've stopped now...thank god for that!
- Warren replies to Nan| 3 replies"Unfortunately several posts have been removed" - several posts? There was about 16 pages describing these guys despicable actions that have vanished. If John/Eleanor and Davenport were all hiding from the same IP address it still doesn't explain the disappearance of all the other posts - from the people reporting the calls to the likes of Bishop, Andy, etc and even your comments Nan have been removed. Am I to believe you all were somehow implicated in these scheme? I really don't know who to trust now.
- Nan replies to Warren| 2 repliesThe problem is that when the site removes posts because they are using different names but have the same IP address, they also remove the replies, which makes the site look like gibberish. This lot have popped up again on 07520905081. It is a pity that the posts were removed and I did complain to the Moderator, but it looks like when they are gone, they are gone. I cannot speak for anyone else but I am certainly not part of any scheme and am doing as much as I can to warn people about this sect.
- Eleanor replies to Nan| 1 replyThis year we will only be having one Easter service which begins at 6am sharp. It will be a traditional naked service of hymns and readings, led by the Right Honourable Reverend Davenport, colloquially known as Naked Pastor John, cousin of our Italian east-end legend, Pasta Jon. Music leadership will be effected by a brass-bollock naked quartet and an open invitation to share Easter bunny memories will take place after which favourite carols will be sung naked. Start inviting your friends today and pray that God would use this community outreach event via Skype and we wish you a wonderful Easter celebration!
As a way to introduce people to Jesus and the God Delusion, our new bible of truth, it is going to be a blast! - Anon| 2 repliesHe called me just now and he claimed he could cleanse me over the phone. He asked me to repeat the words "the council were merciful" again and again until I had been forgiven. The phone call lasted atleast 40 minutes and I feel confused now. He said they would call again tomorrow.
- Caller: Rev. Davenport
- BB77 replies to AnonHe did the same to me, conducted a baptism over the phone an cleansed me of my sins. I was feeling good until I read this page - is it really a cult and can anyone prve it?
- A firm believer| 1 replyI have read with some interest some of the confused rantings on this thread, but have always been one to hold back until now. I was initiated into this church originally through an early morning telephone call from the Right Honourable Reverend Davenport. Over time I had been introduced to Pastor John (although I have never heard of an Eleanor, but I may be mistaken) and a few other key members of the congregation. I have found their church to be a supportive place, full of love and compassion. I have found Rev. Davenport to be a wonderful exponent of the Socraticdebate. I think Pastor John´s magnetism stems not from his political and cultural savvy, but from his ability to gracefully and intelligently stroll the theological line.
His sermons fall neither into the emotions-based, Christianity-lite camp of many evangelical and charismatic churches. But neither are they the Jesus-less, social justice apologetics of many Episcopalian and liberal Protestant churches. Whatever the topic - money, forgiveness, tough times - Pastor John steers his teachings back to the Cross. He says, "Look at the world - isn't it a mess?" as well as "Look at your own heart - isn't it a mess? But there's One who came to save both."
His sermons are more like conversations and lack any whiff of performance. His voice doesn't break into crescendos of emphasis. He never stomps like Thumper in a flurry of agitation. I find it truly encouraging that he and his church have chosen to promote the teachings of Jesus through this outbound telephone campaign. The church really does need to move with the times in order to broaden it´s appeal to other demographics and the tween sector is the next to be targeted with a SMS text campaign.
Some of the postings on this thread read like bitter vendettas and nothing else. You really have nothing to lose by giving them a try. I am just lucky that I was chosen by them. - Nan replies to A firm believerNo, not bitter vendettas. Just a healthy scepticism of people who 'phone from fake numbers peddling their twisted form of religion. These people, as you probably know, repeatedly change their fake numbers, when the Moderators of this site get wise to them. "The Right Honorable" "Reverend"?? Not only has he never been ordained into a recognised Church, nor has been admitted to Parliament. I am surprised st your claim that you have never heard of "Eleanor" as "she" has been a constant on all the fake numbers they use, even to the extent of pretending to have escaped the sect to get people who have been upset by the sect to contact her. When they did it turned out she had not left at all.
- BevCreepy guy phoned asking me to pray with him over the phone. I told them I would not and he told me the council would look unfavourably upon my lack of cooperation. Judging by the comments above this is some dodgy skype number they are using, which cannot be called back. Love to know how they got hold of my name and number.
- Another victim| 8 repliesThese people are dangerous! They had my mum talking in tongues, repeating stupid phrases and hissing like someone possessed when you approached her. She used to clutch and pull out her hair and we had to get her to a psychotherapist in order for them to 'de-programme' her. Something should be done against these people, the very fact they have the nerve to come on here in order to defend their actions makes my blood boil. Whatever or whomever these people are, they have nothing to do with God. These lot are evil in my opinion.
- Mrs Newton| 1 replyMy story is similar to others on this site. Same caller making stupid demands, telling me that I should pray with them. Having hung up on them they called back a few times.
