- RockyGot a call today from WinPCTech saying i had viruses etc. He asked if my computer was slow, and i said it wasn't. He said that it is progressively getting slower because of the Trojans on my pc and that he could prove it to me. O told him i didnt thing we would have Trogans but he was very insistent he was right. (at this point also mentioned he was from Sydney) I told him i couldn't reach the computer from this phone but that i would call him from a mobile. He gave me the number 0280062085 and hung up. I typed the number into google and here we are.

- TonyAnother one today 27/10/2010 (have had this re-occurring). WinPCTech. It's a SCAM. I said that I wanted to come to their office. They wouldn't give me an address. They said that Michael Clarke (not the cricketer) would call. Told them I googled the number and it came up as a scam - they advised me that if I thought it was a scam I should hang up - so I did.

- BootcampYep, got a call today from company calling themself Win Tek Support, said they've recently opened this Microsoft Tech support office in Manchester, UK. Extention from their "Miami" base (probably because of my American accent). Ronald (Sr Tech) laughed at me when I said I'd look into this further and decide on it later. He first tried with the scare tactic and when that had no affect, he implied my responses were idiotic and continued to laugh at me. Needless to say, I told him to have a blessed day.

- DamianFriend of mine got a call from these people yesterday saying they were sub contractors from Norton who have been monitoring her computer. After many hangups they convinced my friend they were legitimate and got her credit card details. Today we have discovered they are a scam, their website: www.winpctech.net/ is blocked by trent micro, and obviously this website and scamwatch.com talk about them.
Fortunately they had not taken any money out of the card. It is likely they obtain credit card details, and then sell them to third parties. My friend has now canceled her credit card. Be warned.- Caller: Win Tech
- Melb. AustraliaBeware of this mob!
They rang my elderly mother and told her she has a virus on her computer, she doesn't have a computer lol, they became abusive and rude and wouldn't take no for an answer. She got their details, their website is winpctech.net on further investigation I also found this site that has exactly the same contact details,
http://globalpchub.com/
They prey on the elderly and vulnerable, they are not to be trusted, do not give them your credit card details, they are scammers! Let everyone know about them.

- StephI had a call about 10 minutes ago, picked it as a scam, and lucky had my mobile by my side I taped the conversation. Now who should I send this to? Will have to think about it. Got about 5 minutes of conversation first with a female, then the "Supervisor" (Male) came on, said his name is Michael Williams. Said I wanted to call the company back as I didn't have time to go through this now and asked for a number and got 0280062085 from Michael, considering she called out an Indian type name to call him over to speak with me, more sus. Thank you for the opportunity to vent.

- TracyI live in Melbourne and I've just received a call from them too, about 30mins ago - and I'm registered with donotcall too!! It was from a heavily-accented Indian guy - I managed to get his company name and phone number - 02 8006 2085 - but as soon as I mentioned that I was registered with donotcall he hung up! So, I've just rung donotcall to lodge a complaint - the very helpful lady took all details of the call, told me it was definitely from a scam company, and said they'd look into it and send me a letter within 14 days re the outcome.

- Eli replies to robert speersYes, similar call regarding a virus. Didn't feel comfortable following through with it though.
- Hey replies to ACHey, Today I got caught out with this scam, yes it is a scam and unfortunately it worked on me as I had downloaded windows 7 recently and it was saying it was not genuine. Then today and indian fellow claiming to be from Microsoft called regarding error messages being sent from my network. Im not to savvy with that kind of thing so I was pretty scared at this point. They walked me through finding these error messages on my computer(A different one to the one with the ungenuine windows error message) and then proceeded to walk me throught typing www.logmein123.com and gave me a code so a technitian could accsess my computer and clear the threats and errors. I thought the non genuine windows computer on the same network had corrupt and someone was hacking me ><. they accessed my computer and I could see him moving the mouse around he then went into CMD and typed tree and thousands of documents flew onto the black box. I paniced at this time and turned the computer off. returned about 10 minutes later and turned it back on. by this time they stell had access so I cancled it and did a google search, and here I am, i disconnected the computer from the internet and changed various email paswords on another computer and the user password of the one they got into. DONT FALL FOR THIS, I dont know what they might have their hands on of mine but It cant be good, im just going to hope for the best and keep firewall tunred on lol/

- eli replies to DubiousI got another call from 0280062085 saying my computer was infected a few weeks ago. I haven't even had my computer that long. I confronted the caller (David) about and he became quite rude. Wouldn't give any information other than the phone number and the repeated assurance that this is a 'global company'.

- RonI had a call from the same number saying I had a problem with windows. They talked me through:" all programs, accessories then run", at which stage I was asked to type some letters. The warning bells started ringing in my head so I asked for their telephone number and rang them back. The asian/indian man named Ricki tried hard to get me to continue but I said I would not do anything until I had spoken to a computer friend. My friend said it was a scam and put me onto this web site.
- keepin2I have now had about 30 calls from these jokers over the last few months. Today got another one... same spiel as before ( if the computer was that bad it should have crashed by now lol ) I phoned the number for wintech given on the list at their site address and told him about the phonecalls I've been getting and promised him his life would get interesting if I keep getting calls.... Maybe this is the way to address this issue...flood their company with calls....

- White replies to ACI got the call just now. Almost type www.logmein....and I stopped. the web address is very suspicious.
- FridgeI've had 3 calls from the same Indian guy over the last 2 months. Decided to find out a bit more about who was calling instead of hanging up straight away. Win PC Technology was the company, claim to be microsoft certified, offered assistance for a virus problem that I did not have and had not reported; eventually told them I would investigate the situation and would get back to them. They claimed they would fix the problem for free, but with prompting then told me I could then purchase software for around $50-80 to ensure the problem did not re-occur. David Gibbs (very Indian) told me he was from Sydney. So the scam has been going for many months.
