Report a phone call from 02-8091-5001 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Valour replies to amy bulmer| 1 replyHi Amy I am in Australia and just got this scam. The new phone number was 0291916553. interestingly I dialled this on my mobile. When i checked the log, it came up as 0407004687. It appears to be a legitimate Sydney number, but it was a mobile.
- Valour replies to Valouractually ignore this it is incorrect, my bad.
- Woody15 replies to lynette| 1 replyHi Lynette - I have had a similar experience to you from a 'Jack' in Sydney saying my computer was about to crash and he could help me. He directed me to the area of my computer showing the 'red markings' that meant the computer files were being corrupted. I asked who he was representing and he said he was working through www.support4softwares.com and he could provide me a 5 year plan to keep my computer problem free (eg; start up errors, slow machines, virus issues, compatability issues etc).
This plan was for $425 and if I provided my credit card number through Klik & Pay account he could set my computer up. I said I would get back to him. I googled this website and obtained a couple of numbers (02 80060786 and 02 8006 4488). I tried to ring these numbers but was unable to make any contact. Seemed like a scam. Was wondering if anybody else has had a call from this 'company. - Martin LeeGot a call to from someone reporting they worked with Microsoft saying all the red items listed under "Application" in event viewer were symptoms of a virus and I should got to "windowssupportonline" and let them access my home PC to clean it up.
This is the 2nd call I've had in Darwin- Caller: WINDOWSSUPPORTONLINE
- invin replies to LynetteAnyone who honestly thinks a global company the size of Microsoft is going to call consumers to fix issues that you didn't even know you had, is a complete moron!
Why on God's green earth would a multi-billion dollar company give 2 hoots about consumers, when their biggest market is business?
Seriously people!!! Think first! - shakespeare1 replies to Woody15Yes we did, I think its a scam. When you call the number no one answers, its just an answering machine
- Berniegot a call tonight from a number identified as "overseas" an indian sounding man that told me he was from windows support center (he also asked for me by name ) and wanted me to let him have access to my computer he asked me to do a few things to show me that i had a problem i "played "with him a bit and kept him talking as i get these calls fairly regulary, i kept telling him my computer was slow and he said i had a lot of problems with it. he wanted me to go to a web site to fix it .at about this time i said this is a scam which he denied then gave me a number to ring to verify it i said i would and he said he would ring back later .thats when i came here just to check the number, as i suspected it is a scam. beware of anyone that rings and wants access to your computer. oh by the way i use linux so why would windows support center ring me ??

- shielai got a call from 0280915001 and he said that my computer has problem and he will help to fix the problem. i googled and found that it is scam. i did not follow any of his instructions. Such people are nothing but BEGGARS. do not respect such BEGGARS.
- tan1212| 1 replyI had the same thing happen to me about an hour ago my husband answered the phone he does not know a thing about computers so he thought there was a real problem she had him opening folders going on about errors etc she was asking him for $180 and to do this and that so a technican could fix the problem I finally got the damn phone off of him by this stage files were opening by themselves and programs opening and closing it even turned off the firewall for a few seconds I wasnt quick enough to stop them getting in. She asked me for my email name and number I said you are supposedly from microsoft you should know all that She assured me she did which is pretty funny considering it is not my computer and everything through the internet is in my daughters name . So I gave her my name and email then the so called technican saun michaels sent me instructions to send my bank details or credit card etc I spent the next 10 to 15 minutes telling her I dont have a credit card and no debit card and no paypal and I had my own security system installed so I didnt need it she just kept argueing with me telling me to borrow someones card I said I cant do that she was totally amased that I dont buy or do any of my financial business on line I dont trust it she got fed upf with me after awhile and handed me to a indian man who just kept telling me i had to get it or my computer was going to go all black and I would not be able to use it again at this stage files and folders and all this other stuff started flying all over the moniter I started accusing them of being a scam then this form popped up from a so called technican telling me to fill in my details i said to the idiot man a page just came up from your technican telling me to fill in my details he said that cant be saun michaels is an experienced hacker and I said excuse me that woman just told me to give my details to him he started yelling something in indian to some one in the back ground stage every program on my desk top was opening I told him he said it is not pay the money then the screen went black and it died at this stage i was full telling him off with this vista program on the computer I can fix it as soon as it turns on I was doing that when he was telling me pay the money we told you it was going to happen and you cant do anything about it now you should have listened then the computer came to life again and i said in a very smart [***] voice guess what I fixed it and im not paying you any money and he said i cant convince you to pay so im hanging up now and said yes you do that my computer is working fine now so if a indian voiced woman supposedly from microsoft tell em to get lost and always make sure you have security on all your financiqal stuff and other documents on your computer people they never cease to amaze me

- David replies to tan1212What amazes ME is the length of that ONE sentence you typed. Not a comma , a full stop or anything to be seen, and that's quite apart from your painfully poor spelling and grammar. Although I agree with you that these people are scammers to be ignored.......I PLEAD with you......get an education.
- ibolyaIf you have been silly enough to download a file and run it then more than likely you have Trojan on your machine.
This is a program that enables anyone who buys the access codes from this mob to remotely access and use your computer for generating SPAM , denial of service attacks etc to the internet.
So:
a. Run a current antivirus /spamware program from a reputable vendor such as Norton, Kapersky etc.
b. When you are not using the computer stop access to the internet by taking out the cable or turning off the wireless network. This stops any remote use for delivering SPAM to the internet
I have investigated the number and one of the sites you link to is www.mytechoinline.net which is registered supposedly in Australia (Nobby's Beach, Qld) but has a telephone number with a Danish country code and with a domain name registered in India (which is not hard to determine once the callers open their mouths).

- Peter6530Call to my phone in Western Australia tonight at 7.00pm from a person, who spoke with an Indian accent, and identified herself as Stella Jones and saying she was from "IT support" or something similar. Endeavoured to show me "error" and "warning" messages by guiding me to the "eventviewer" where these fairly common events are shown as Logs.
"Stellla" asked me to enter www.mytechonline.net into my browser, at which point I asked "Stella" to call back at a more convenient time, enabling me to check out this business online.
Have had a few of these calls recently. If the directions are followed, full control of my computer is handed to someone or a company, about which I know absolutely nothing. Another similar operation uses the Ammyy site. I noticed on another site of the returned web results that "mytechonline" have engaged "PlacementIndia" to recruit call centre staff. Mytechonline is currently employing about 850 people according to the write-up, so it's big business.
Details similar to all of the above reports in most details.
Beware the unsolicited caller wanting to fix all or any the problems on your computer. Deal only with well recognised and reputable service providers.
These people and organisations feed on gullibility and lack of knowledge - as someone said above, they come in all industries and markets - I think the French term "mefiez-vous l'acheteur" which is not the one I remember from school but meaning "buyer beware".- Caller: mytechonline

- AlbyI was contacted by Ronnie Jamison who said he was from Windows XP Australia He said that I had received a large number of files from Malaysia that were corrupting my computer and that of the central server! and asked me to turn my computer on. I obtained this phone number and said I would need to ring him back, as I didn't believe I could trust this call.

- SallyLooks like this scam is still going, I got a call today from so caalled windows support tech telling me that I have an inbound Internet virus. When I questioned her about it and asked how I could be sure she was from windows she gave me the 02 8001 5001 phone number and told me it was the head office and they could verify that she was legitimate . I did not call this number but called Microsoft instead and they told me Microsoft do not call people in regards to tech problems on the phone and that this was a scam, so I gave all the details to person at Microsoft and he told me he would report it and not to allow anyone remote access to my computer. Much to my surprise I did not hear back from windows support the scammer.!!!!!! So don't be sucked in by anyone claiming that you have a problem with your computer especially if you have not had any error messages from your anti virus software which will block any so called problem anyway.
Good luck everyone.- Caller: Windows scam
- RajI have been getting this call from Stella Jones as well. My misus told her i when i will be home. she made quite an effort to contact me. Anyway she told me to look in the applications folder and check the red and yellow flags. They said it will my computer slower and eventually crash. To my knowlledge its only an events log files. Shouldnt do any harm. i told her to give me the name of her organisation and contact details. she was quite persistent to remove this files for no cost since they were providing technical support on behalf of microsoft. Looks like i did the right thing by doing a bit of research. Who Provides Free Lunches these days.

- LaraI admit it took me a long time to be certain it was a scam call. They showed me where to find the "microsoft user license ID number" and then read it out over the phone, saying that was proof that they were calling from Microsoft. I eventually got suspicous when they said that I must buy and install a product from them, but refused to tell me the product name. Eventually they said it was "microsoft web shield" and I could buy a 1 year or lifetime option. Of course they were sellling something... even though they used the "I'm not selling you anything" line to start with.
Their rudeness was second to none. When he started getting pushy about purchasing one of the options I told him I did not have the authority to do that right now and I wanted to call him back later. He refused to give me his phone number, until I persisted and got very angry with him. That's when I got the 02 8091 5001 number. He said my computer could crash at any moment so there was no point giving his number! That rang alarm bells.
Halfway through the call the first person transferred me to a "senior technical manager" called Justin. Then when I finished the call the pop-up survey asked how was Mohit? How hard is it to stick to one fake name?
They know nothing about your computer. They just call out of the phone book or those lists that telemarketers buy. That had the wrong name when they called, but they spoke to me anyway. You can ask to be listed on the Do Not Call register. Its a national government register and they must respect your privacy request.- Caller: Microsoft Technical Services

- AshI had the same phone call (02 8091 5001) from a Indian named Mr Sirius Brand wow how original.
We then asked where they where located and they said 14 martin place which when i looked up on Google maps was the martin place square where the Christmas tree is usually placed.
We then searched their ABN that they gave us and we discovered that it was not called My tech but was called COGNIZANT TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS AUSTRALIA PTY LTD and it was not located in Martin place.
They have rang me 3 nights in a row and on the 3rd night i said i'll take it up to our local technician and you can both have a chat and sort out my problem he then promptly got upset because apparently he can fix any problems. After i said its no problem and i said i don't trust you he then hung up on me.
It was all quite amusing but i'm glad i didn't get scammed.
Just letting you what he asked us to do, the steps are below:
Start > Computer (right click) > manage> event viewer>window log>system and look at all the problems that you have that are yellow red and blue symbols (marks).- Caller: Mytech
- PeevYep! They're still at it. All of the above: Same lines, same insistance, same offers to fix, repeated calls over a four week period. The contact number as shown above. Then, before I committed to anything I found this list of queries in a Google search that confirmed my suspicions.
The telephone room sounds extremely busy. Probably not from Sydney, all indian voices. Someone is serious about working this angle. Someone else (Australian Police) needs to get as serious to shut them down.- Caller: mytechonline.net
- Tommy| 4 repliesBEWARE. This is a SCAM. MYTEC ON LINE are thieves and liars. They claim to cleanse your computer remotely, gain your confidence over a period of 6+ months then they pounce.
I have just had $3000 stolen from my bank account which they gained access by claiming that during a routine cleanse of my computer my bank account had been breached and they needed access to install 'blockers' to stop hackers from taking money from my account. Then THEY do exactly what they claim they are protecting me from, take money from my account and transfer the money via T.T. to INDIA.
0280915001 is a number which MYTEC ON LINE use via their base which I am fairly certain is in INDIA. They are NOT located in Martin Place Sydney as I have checked this out and they have not had an office there in the last 10 years. DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE
