I just recieved a missed call from the 029761 0088 number and tried to call back but engaged. Hopefully this doesnt mean I will get endless calls now like many of you have reported...Did anyone ever end up reporting this to virgin? What if it is a scam? Can't believe I found this information, just googled the number on the off chance it would come up with a company name!

I just got a call from this number too... thought it was my dad and i haven't spoken to him in years. =P This is stressing me out...

I use to be with Virgin, but switched to Optus a month ago (kept the same number). Someone also called me from (02) 9761 0088 number. Glad I missed it :)

I'm getting a called by this number all the f!@#ing time. i work shift work and i need sleep, but i need to leave my phone on for family reasons.  I have contacted virgin mobile, they said they removed me from the list.  I am going to now ask for my number to be blocked.  I really do not want to part with my mobile number to stop this as i have had the same number for years.

I did report to virgin, they said it would stop, i just received another call, so i've now emailed them asking to block the number

What is the source of this number? I'm a virgin customer but when I call back it is engaged. Does anyone know who or what it is??

Thanks for the info everyone! I've been missing calls from 0297610088 for the past 2 days and had no clue who it was and calling back only to get an engaged tone. I'm a Virgin mobile and broadband customer too and wondering whether to call them now...

this is the second time this number has called, is it possible i have won lotto?? they are very secretive about it even the winners do not get to know!!

Yeah, its virgin, they asked me if I was Bruce, who is the account holder for my phone because I am only 12, she asked me that and then went on about changing my plan.

Its a mixture of customer service and random offers.

I put in a email from asking why in cookies wasn't my phone canceled when it was meant to be. Few hours later got a call from this number who then didn't believe I was the account holder. Even though I was giving him the requested info. Claimed my voice was too girly.
Called like another 5 times after I turned the phone off then started ringing the other phone I had.

Thanks for the info guys. The same thing has been happening to me for the last week or so now i'm with Virgin too, i keep missing the calls but this number has been calling me twice a day every day... Really starting to get annoying when waiting for important calls. I've answered the call a few times now and both times the line stays open for about 5 seconds then disconnects.

Why are you calling me and why when I call back your line is engaged

It makes sense that it is Virgin, as that's my phone carrier too.
I've already told them before I'm not interested changing my prepaid plan.

Just got my first call from this number. I'm also with Virgin - it seems to be a pattern. If this continues I will express my displeasure before switching to another provider. I have never been anything but prepaid and I never will be anything but. But that doesn't mean I should be a target for useless plans that do not meet my needs.

What are you going to do about it...I can see tens of complains and yet the same rubish is still happining,,,hummm....

I rang Virgin Mobile and got nowhere... the don't know which way is up...
You can ring and ask for a supervisor on 02 9028 1914 but they will just deny everything and say it is marketing or telesales or some other crap.
If you have an Android phone just use Mr. Number and block their sorry tired ass...
