0301

Received 3 calls around 1520 hr this week from this strange 4 digit number.  Indian type wanting to ask questions..told him where to get off.

4 calls from this number yesterday - Asian sounding person. Managed to get out of him he was from 'Your Views' said he was calling from Warwickshire - probably another lie.
I pumped him for information re who, why where & he said all that would be available at end of call.  I said I wanted it now & that I am asking the questions first.  He said, oh this call is being recorded, I said well that is great, f*ck off then!!  He hung up.  Totally sick of them.

I know I run the risk of teaching you all how to suck eggs, but in case youre not aware how this scam works, read on...

Calls of this type are made by automated call centers and operate outside the law.  A simple computer set up can operate this scam.

- They getting your details from list purchased from busineses that you gave your details to.
- The "call center" computers call your number and report the originating number as something obscure OR a premium rate number
- They simultaniously contact a mobile number of someone that is given a script to read out (i'm sure you've seen the "earn thousands of pounds a month working from home" adverts
- The "caller" gives you some scam about debt, a virus or even that you have won something.  they may ask for you by name or even a previous tennant of your property/person who was registered on the telephone number

- under no circumstances give out personal information.  challenge them and...

- ask for their NAME
- ask WHO their company is
- ask for a CONTACT NUMBER for their company

This is usually enough to get rid of them.  

WHAT TO DO NEXT:
- Dial 1471 and make a note of the number.  DO NOT REQUEST A RING BACK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
write down the time of the call and the number somewhere and keep a log of them
Go to the OFCOM website and complain.

The aim of this scam is two fold.  firstly, they want your personal details.  a credit card number is enough for them to make a transaction to their account.

In the case of premium rate numbers (numbers that start "08" or "09") the temptation is to dial 1471 and call them back.  by doing this, you are connected to a premium rate number that will cost you an arm and a leg.

Cold calling like this is illegal.  do not be a victim of it

I have been having these phone calls every couple of days for many months. I am not with Virgin, and today's call was at 8.36 am. I find the best thing is not to answer. I had one number that called me 64 times from 16th March to mid July. They have now stopped. It may take a bit of time but most of the numbers that ring multiple times finally give up.

I have had load's of these 0301 calls my advise to everyone is get caller I D and ignore them they are a pest a we should have some way of stopping them.

Someone needs to stop these time wasters

Silent call but 1471 gave me 0301. Not the first time this has happened but no-one has ever spoken.

Just had a call from 0301. Indian sounding lady called Grace saying that she was ringing on behalf of House and Homes and wanting to ask me a few household questions.  Told her that I didn't complete surveys, thanked her and hung up. I dont expect it will be the last I hear from them!

I've been getting these calls 4/5 times a day really annoying me I'm ex directory and I'm on the TPS I can't understand why I'm being bogged down with sales calls quite a few I get are all 4 digit numbers. I've heard a few people mention true call what is this and is it worth having. Thanks

I'm sick of several calls a day including Sundays from people I have never heard of and have no wish to.

several calls from 0301, don't know why but it's getting past a joke.

And they're back! They got taken off the block list because they hadn't bothered me for a few months and I needed the space for a more frequent pest.  Well if it starts up again, they'll be blocked again.  Needless to say, no message was left.

Had 2 anon callers and this is one of em 0301, i didn't answer it because it looks fishy but i'll just put this up to let others know that this number has still been callin ever since how many years ago, (it seems that it has been going on for a very long time)

i been receiving call by this num 0301 many times,
i had no idea and i answered the call.
but the opposite site will be quite untill i say 'hello may times than ill hangup by myself...
what kind of number is this??

I received this call but didnt pick up and it ended in my voicemail..its from the company to recruit person for job.

I'm from Malaysia and i received  a call from 0301 just now. But i didn't answer it because this number which only contains four digits look so weird for me.
