The number is HSBC... BUT if you have any doubt, phone HSBC back on a different number you find on their website! It's not hard!

They will confirm the number is really theirs and put you through to fraud dept (so you don't even have to phone the number back).

Got an SMS telling me to phone this number. Suspected at first but everything fits with HSBC standard (the same broken music and recorded voice). Couldn't verify through another phone number as it was late at night. HSBC did verify on twitter on this being their number and many others online also did. I made sure they only asked for my account number etc. for verification but nothing on passwords/pin and the like. Turns out they suspected me myself because I've been doing multiple small payments with my card so they blocked it.

I do not doubt your honest intentions but it is NEVER wise to use a number given to you in a sms or telephone message about  your bank account or credit card.  If you think about it that is exacty what a scammer would want you to do.  Call your bank or credit card company on a number you know to be correct, e.g. from your card or from that company's website.

Be aware that this caller from number 03456052324 claming that is the HSBC bank, is a Fruad!!!
The caller wasn't a fluent english speaker and knew some details from me but missing someothers that wanted to confirm with me. I asked to tell me the reason why she was calling and she refused to replay. Long story short trying to get info from her hung up with saying that i will check with my bank thx. And yes luckly did not give anything essential.

DEFINITELY NOT HSBC. My daughter just got texts and calls and she's on the phone with HSBC as I type. It seems the scammers have hijacked this thread. The Twitter account posted no longer exists, which should also ring alarm bells.

NEVER TRUST THESE CALLS / TEXTS! Always call your back through one of their published numbers.

I had a missed call from this number and after google brought me to this page I called HSBC by the number on my card and was told to call their fraud protection number. Both operators said that HSBC had NOT called me. There was also a small transaction to a "Braintree" which I have no recognition of. That transaction has been stopped and they have cancelled my card and are sending me a new one.

Had two text messages first asking me to text back following fraudulent activity then two phone calls from this number. I called HSBC direct and they said there has not been any fraudulent activity on my account so must be a scam. Always best to phone the bank directly if in doubt.

This number is genuine. After I've dialed this particular number, it went straight to HSBC Fraud. And they now have processed a replacement of my card and blocked the current one.
