- dbombit's these guys they do goverrment and universtiy research http://www.srcentre.com.au/
just answer and say you dont or do want to do the survey no big deal- Call type: Survey
- Market Research Interviewer| 9 repliesYeah, it's the Social Research Centre, they're based in North Melbourne. A few things to remember:
1) It's completely legal for them to call you. They are even exempt from the provisions of the Do Not Call register. They are calling either on behalf of a government department, a charity, a university, a political party of some other non-profit public interest organization (like the TAC or WorkSafe). They don't want your money.
2) If you have a private number, great, but it will NOT stop you from getting a research call from time to time. Again, it is not illegal for a research company to dial a private number. A lot of people who pay for a private number literally have no idea what this means: it ONLY means you are unlisted in public directories. That's it. It does not stop you from being randomly dialed for research purposes.
3) If you just ignore the calls, you will be called essentially every day (maybe twice, maybe even three times a day) until you work up the courage to pick up the phone and speak to whoever is on the other end of the line. This is because a computer automatically schedules the call, not because the interviewer on the other line wants to annoy you.
4) If you pick up and tell the interviewer you're not interested in surveys and don't want to participate now or in the future, you won't get a call back. Further, you can request your number be placed on the company's own do not call register which means you won't be called back for ANY survey they do. Yes the interviewer may twist your arm a little by emphasizing the importance of the study or its brevity or the flexibility of the company's calling schedule but guess what... this is their job. Ultimately the decision's yours, no one has a gun to your head.
5) If you have kids and do a bunch of shift work or are just stressed out or whatever, again, just PICK UP THE BLOODY PHONE and tell the interviewer this. They are not emotionless automatons, they realize some people just can't be interviewed.
6) Screaming like a maniac about getting a lawyer involved, writing to your MP, calling the cops or whatever else you think will scare the interviewer enough not to call you back will probably result in you being classed as an "unreliable respondent" and laughed at when you put the phone down. Your number will probably be called again when another study is commissioned... all of this of course could be avoided by a polite, reasonable and direct refusal to participate.
7) Yes, a lot of these studies/surveys are done for the public good. Without them governments would have literally no idea about what the public thinks or how it behaves (that is, less so than they do already).
8) These studies/surveys are all VOLUNTARY. No one will force you to do them. But it never hurts to hear the interviewer out, who knows, you might even find the subject *gasp* interesting or somewhat relevant to you!
9) If you decide to participate in the study, your identity and all of your answers are protected by both state and federal privacy laws. You can always skip any question you feel is too personal anyway.
10) Being a passive-aggressive coward and whining about this stuff on the internet makes you an awful human being.
Hope this helped!

This number calls calls my mobile constantly, at a time when I must be asleep or something as its never when I can answer. Why should I use up my phone fees on stupid calls - Canberran replies to Market Research Interviewer| 1 replyI had a call from them on Friday, spoken to a great guy, had questions about my thoughts on social policy and should the government control gambling.
People-stop being afraid, get your finances organised instead, I bet a lot of you have big debts and sh*t scared of debt collectors calling you, lol.
I gave permission for this company to call again.
Nothing to whine about,
So, I agree with James on all that he described.
And one more thing-since being on donotcall register I've never had ANY unsolicited calls, so don't be [***] and pick up the phone!!! - chucky replies to Hannahits a phone company in victoria called viptel. the calls are computer generated. the best way to get rid of them when you see the number come up dont answer SIMPLE
- chucky replies to meThe calls are computer generated its a phone company in Victoria called VIPTEL another number they ring on is 1300785847. If your with Vodafone, or Optus they "sell" your details to these companys then they ring up with "special offers" they dont leave messages because its a computer calling the number if theres no answer it just goes back into the system and the computer keeps trying. if you ignore it long enough and dont answer your details drop out of their system
- chucky(03) 83834900 are computer generated calls from a mobile phone company in Victoria. They want you to change carriers for a "discount" If you are with Vodapone, Optus its more than likely this number will call you Nobody will speak unless someone answers the phone. because theres a 5 second delay from the time the computer rings the number till the time someone answers. Therefore the call goes back into the system and just keeps going around until the computer rings again. The best way to stop it is DONT ANSWER THE PHONE the computer will eventually "forget" but if someone answers such as a voice mail etc.the computer picks it up as "active service and will keep rining.

- the phantom replies to Market Research InterviewerWhat a load of crap!
- notanidiot replies to CanberranHey Canberran, you sound like a debt collector, you agree with James who also sounds like a debt collector so instead of hiding behind the social research centre come out and tell people who you really are & why you are gathering the information for your supposed survey. Insted of hiding behind a computer to make the calls arnt you man enough to dial the number yourselves, oh maybe you are that much of a [***] you dont know how to use a phone. you can keep ringing me as much as you like because the number you are ringing is an old one so the phone will just ring no matter how times you ring. im getting a good laugh out if. IDIOTS!
