Just got a couple of email off carsales from nathanwait278@outlook.com.
Nice try... not falling for the payment thru paypal trick!

I just got one from the lewry bloke, almost exact same wording as  all the other emails posted on here. The email was Steven.lewry@outlook.com.

I got the steven.lewry@outlook.com guy just last night. It's obviously a money laundering scam, but here is our conversation... from most recent to least, so maybe read bottom to top.

Me:

Your job sounds interesting. Do you think you could make the payment with nickel? I visited the stock exchange website today and it is predicted to go up in value, so I wish to be paid in nickel for this reason.

Maybe your courier company that picks up the car could also drop off $8000 worth of nickel? I don't mind if it is heavy.

Bank Transfer takes time.. well i will make the transfer from my paypal account so to make it clear fast as i want the car to be picked up by sunday or what do you think? The pickup agent will take care of the paper work/transfer of ownership for me don't worry about that. Send me your account details I will make the transfer now and also send me your address i want to forward it to the pickup agent so he can figure it out.

Another scammer by name of Neil Parker neil.parker231@gmail.com...with a UK prefix to the number...and this text arrived at 6am this morning!....

So I tried to send the money online but it's not going through and I am in the desert and there is no way i can find a western union agent to make the transfer to my pick up agent, so i wanted to ask if it will be OK for me to include my pick up agent's fees together with your payments through PayPal,So you will help me wire the pick up fee to them via western Union Money Transfer immediately i pay you.I don't mean to bother you I'm sure you understand that I'm presently on the Mine in the desert and there is nothing i can do to that.

The bottom line is after I have made the payments out via PayPal,you will help me wire my pick up agent fee $850.00 to them through western union money the western union money transfer can be made at a post office near to you,there is always a western union agent in most post offices or online at www.westernunion.com, I just wanted to seek your consent before going ahead with the payments. Received email from Ruby Dyer requesting details of vehicle that were in the ad.
This phone number was included in email.
Just a scam.

My daughter has recently advertised her car for sale.Almost immediately she received an offer from this so called Stephen Lewry wanting to buy  her car unseen via paypal with mention of a courier picking it up!All of these reasons he states are due to work commitments etc! Thank you to everyone who has posted concerns over this scam! Be aware everyone! If it all sounds too good to be true......IT IS!

So glad I came across this website. Had a guy by the name of "John Lewry" wanting to buy my car off of gumtree and gave us a word perfect version of what is written above! Thanks you just saved me a lot of trouble!

Exact Same email. I sent through the pictures thinking that his browser wouldn't open then.
Then quickly googled him and this came up. some of these are from 2012, so he has been a round for a while... surely someone can stop him?

I just received the same email as you from the same guy. The number used was: 0477751491. I also received a similar text shortly afterwards with the number 0477751492 (one number higher), which seems really suspect!!! I unfortunately responded and then checked the internet for comments regarding what I thought was very sus. See below:
