I got the exact same text and then email from "sandra". After numerous emails she said she has deposited the money into my account but it will not appear until i pay western union for the pick up for the car.

I am so glad I looked into this!

Glad I googled this dodgey lady. Looked up the company name and it seemed ok/legit, then typed in her name with the company name and BAM, here we are with Sandra trying to pull off the exact same prank with us also.

Same thing twice on a bike advert on gum tree. One from billowen@hotmail.com
Aka Patrick. And Rob Dawson aka Becky on robdawson739@gmail.com. He claims from one he is a ship engineer in bermuda and the other he is deployed in Iraq. I pointed out it was 4am in Iraq when he emailed and he would have been getting up in 2 hours... Silence. Idiot

Got one from Becky Lawrence (aka billowen@hotmail.com.au), regarding an ad we had on Gumtree. Wanted email only reply.  Forwarded the message onto the ACMA SMS Spam Alert hotline (0429999888).  Sic 'em Rex! :)

Got a second one from the same number, this time from a Michael seay (no capitalisation on surname, instant givewaway, dufus!).  Responding to a car ad on Gumtree.  Pity we're not advertising a car...

Forwarded SMS to the ACMA Scam Alert SMS hotline (+61429999888).

Look up also comments on this website for +61428465117 - same number, same scammers.

I got a message from this number saying he wanted to buy my car for his son. He said that he works on a boat, every thing sounded like a scam.

Got 2 texts today. expecting communication with "wayne.raphael007@yahoo.com" and "john.warick231@gmail.com". Thanks to this site, caught this mobile number in the scammers list.

Same thing, got a response to a Gumtree Advert 0428465117 and email address yobohugh9@gmail.com

Selling caravan through gumtree. SMS from 0428465117 Mary Cole email marycole1@outlook.com. Wanted to buy unseen for her son. Same story, she worked out on the rigs and couldn't phone, only email!!, courier will sign papers and payment through Paypal.checked first on scam net.  So glad we googled the number as looked very suspicious.

Got a response from this mobile number (+61428465117) for a car advert on Gumtree, identified himself as 'Michael Seay' and referred me to this email: yobohugh9@gmail.com
I emailed that it seemed a bit dodgy to me and that if he would like to send his 'courier' to my house with the cash he could certainly have the car. Not heard back.

Glad I searched first. Responding to an ad (either online or in a trade newspaper) in Western Australia, "Mary" said (verbatim including the mistakes) "Hello mate,Is your caravan still available for Sale kindly reply back to my email address (marycole1@outlook.com)"
It was the punctuation and capitalisation errors in the message which raised my suspicions. I didn't reply.

This number is used in an online scam on Gumtree.com.au.. Trying to get people to agree to sending goods via buyer protection via paypal and then screws you out of your hard earned cash.In turn left without your goods. Other people have had other issues with this particular number and they also use other means like other mobiles to take your money.

I placed an add on Gumtree to find that the below user smsd my phone and then proceeded to email me the above message.Upon further investigation i realsied the above email i have posted was actually a scam.I have reported them to ScamWatch.gov.au.I will add that the user contacted me on the above mobile number to request me to return a email to her to Brittney_smith002@yahoo.com ASAP... Name titled Brittany Smith..

I advertised my van on Gumtree this morning and just received anSMS from marycole1@outlook.com with pretty much an identical suspicious looking message.

I got this exact email last night! I gave it to my boyfriend to read because I thought it sounded fishy but he was like sounds okay has their full name but I was very uneasy about it.
