Guys... thank you sooo much! I too have also been in contact with a "Valentina Nehring". A student studying fashion at Birmingham Uni. Her parents had moved to spain and left her this flat in Aldgate which was only £400 pm (really cheap for the are). My friends and work colleagues said there was something a bit fishy about this whole western union money transfer so I randomly searched for her email address on google and this thread come up. You've probably just saved me £800!!! The thieving scum. Just before xmas aswell so I would have been stuffed.

Now it is "Kathryn Cagnetti" who replied to my ad on Gumtree with a suspiciously low-priced apartment and ridiculous story written in awful English.  How dumb do they think we are?  And I really can't believe this person had the nerve to say "if you're not comfortable with that don't bother to reply so we won't waste each other's time".  It's this idiot rip-off artist scammer who is wasting EVERYONE ELSE'S time.

A lil about me : Am a 35years old fashion designer, very friendly.
I live in Birmingham and only come around once in a while so as to keep the flat and surroundings clean. Reasons why we want to rent this place out is so that there will be a permanent occupant that will take care of the flat furnitures and keep the surroundings clean in my absence. We just need life in the flat.


About the flat : The flat was once a family flat till my old parents acquired a new property in Spain and moved, so i have been left in charge of this flat and nobody occupies the flat at the moment.


Concerning viewing: I can only travel from Birmingham to attend to serious tenants that are ready to move in and can prove that they can pay for the first months rent and one months deposit, i don't do general viewing. I need to know that you are serious and have the money to pay before i can come down to London.

I have had emails from this disgusting "person" and have replied telling them have reported to the police and also to gumtree. I have pasted in all your comments and correspondence back to this person (without any of your email addresses). I have also emailed all this correspondence to gumtree  ABUSE contact.  They must think we were all born yesterday.

Ahhhhhhh, I can't believe it, this person got me too, posing as Maggie Korte!!  It makes me so angry to read all of these posts, but I'm glad 'she', 'he', 'it' didn't get a penny frome me!!

I also received exactly the same message via gumtree under the email address of lanabottinelli@hotmail.com....knew it was too good to be true as the price was sooo cheap for london!!  

I emailed back saying how stupid do you think I am ....never got a response....

I wish gumtree improve their site so we didn't have to put up with this!!  It's a shame as they usually hit people who have just arrived here - who do not understand the prices or systems.

P.s!  I report them to gumtree and their email host - but i do not think it does any good...

P.s.s....a friend told me once that when he recieved emails like this which are scams...he signs up the email address to everything and anything going!  jokes, word of the day, and so!  made me laugh

I've just had an email from Teresa Szijjarto. Offering me an amazing 1 bed flat in Greenwich for £700/ocm

Quick google search brought up this page and surprise surrise it's the same person, offering the same place.

BEWARE!

I had the same message from Teresa Szijjarto too, about a 3 bed house in North Kingston - far cheaper than the 2 bed flats I've been looking at.  Similarly she gave an exact address and sent photos of the interior.  I was just about to reply and ask for more details when I thought I'd Google her name, and to see if there was a fashion week coming up in Birmingham.

Of course I'd never hand over money without having seen a house but thanks to all of you for flagging up the scam.

If I had the time I'd sign her up to loads of crap e-mail newsletters but I'm too busy trying to find a place for us to move to.
