i got a phone call from this number earlier, its the first time ive been phoned and i was offered a 'merry offer' from a woman caled nancy and when i asked what this merry offer was i was told it was an 'accidental death plan' i told her i wasnt interested and she said she would phone back another time

Some Insurance Company offering personal accident cover, said they were offering it to me as a price drop tv customer!

This is stonebridge ins..... they are a pain in the [***]!!!!!!!!.

They have phoned me for the last few days.

I today rang the number: 0844 5443503
to have my number removed from their database.

I received a call from this number,I rang it back it is Stonebridge Insurance company, if you want to be removed from thier database ring 08445443503, which is a bit of a cheek when I never asked them to ring me in the first place and am registered with TPS, which seems to make no difference to receiving unsolicited sales calls.

Calling me constantly for the last three weeks and never leave a message - go away!

I just got my first missed call from this number and based on a previous post:

"It is possible that a company I paid with my credit card is passing on information to this company. The interesting thing here is that I was contacted on my home number which is ex directory. This narrows the search for the culprit and suggests that the culprit is an internet company where I had to provide a contact number!!"

I can narrow it down to being linked to the clothes website Very as I placed an order and opened a credit account with them last night. I didn't take payment protection and I assume they are ringing to sell this to me. I didn't answer.

i have just had a call from the same number also at 8.10pm!!!! im sorry but i knew it was a crap call if i dont recognise the company and they are calling at 8.10pm for gods sake.rubbish companys selling your details on as usual.

Argh. Wally's. I never answer 0800 numbers... Always crap. Hate cold callers!

From what can be gleaned by the above responses, it appears there's a connection to the Marshall Ward Group, including Very.co.uk & Isme catalogue/online.

Why do any companies feel they can pester customers all the time?!! It's not right, specially for those on the TPS!!

A law could stamp this BAD practise out!!

The insurance protection schemes often don't actually protect people & won't pay the customers anw!!

As you can see from the above two posts, WILLIAM MARTIN GILBERT is on the board of both companies.

The reason TPS does not work with Stonebridge's calls is because the DMA run the TPS.

If that's not a scam, I don't know what is?

Stonebridge's calls are not surveys or marketing, they are hard sales calls disguised as such in their intro.

This is called Sugging.

Will the DMA's TPS do anything?

Legislation needs to be passed to set up Ofcom with the powers of TPS and to run a no-calls register which includes, sales, surveys and marketing calls. The present system is a self-regulated sham and scam.
