I was called by these extremely nastyy and totally conscience lacking foot in the door high pressure high fraud value Essex based scammers from British Solar (www.british-solar.co.uk - Telephone Number 0800 669 6690) both in the last few days (December 2013) and some months ago earlier on this year.  Although I reported them to the TPS and to the Information Commissioner after the previous illegal TPS breaching calls they are both still at it and also totally and utterly unapologetic and unremorseful for their actions.

On each occasion the approach has been the same with getting a call from an 07 mobile phone number that is displayed on my CLI (British Solar appears to get their staff to use unregistered SIM cards on a network where they can get a lot of or possibly unlimited call minutes to UK landlines for say £10 per month and then dumps using these SIMs after a few weeks to making any tracing or monitoring operations by the ICO or Action Fraud much more difficult) from a very badly spoken Essex based female telling me they are doing a survey on behalf of the "British Government" about a "Government Energy Scheme" involving solar energy panels in which "Your Energy Will Be Free" by signing up with this "Government Backed Company".

At no time does the caller ever identify the actual company they are calling for or that their main actual interest is to get a cold call salesman in to your living room within a few hours to try to pressurise you in to signing a contract with their company (British Solar and not the British Government) to have thousands of pounds worth of Solar Panels installed.  They also fail to tell you that the "free energy" in your own home these panels are meant to provide for you to use will only be available in adequate amounts in the day time on the brightest of days and nor do they mention that the Feed In Tariff via which you are meant to sell energy from these panels has been cut back drastically by the government in the last year or so.

After I established who they were (by relentless pestering their caller to tell me the company name or I would not carry on speaking to them) and then found their website at www.british-solar.co.uk and called them back to complain about their TPS breaching callI was put through to a so called manager about my complaint re breaches of the TPS.   This gentleman was badly spoken and openly rude and abusive about my objections to TPS breaching calls and shouted various obscenities at me before hanging up the phone on me.

If you get calls from these people make sure to report them to https://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/Consumer/ to www.ico.org.uk/complaints and to http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ and to http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/index/getadvice/consumer_service.htm  This is the only course of action that may eventually lead to this company's TPS abuses and also their numerous other apparent breaches of Trading Standards Law (by misrepresenting themselves as being employees of the British Government) being halted.

Just to further update this the actual limited company behind British Solar is Green Energy Alternatives Ltd as listed at www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/ltd/green-energy-alternatives with the same postal address as British Solar of WHITE GATE BUSINESS CENTRES. ALEXANDER LANE, SHENFIELD, ESSEX, UNITED KINGDOM, CM15 8QF

When they also called me earlier this year, again despite my TPS Registration, they were at that stage trading as Green Energy rather than British Solar.  Given how reluctant they actually are to admit who they really are and where they are really based (and how keen they are to pretend they are the British Government) this made things very difficult for at least a couple of other legitimate UK businesses called Green Energy who clearly then received lots of calls from members of the public who wrongly thought they were the company responsible for the TPS breaching phone calls.

I assume that this confusion over who they really were always suited Green Energy Alternatives just fine (as it made it hard to trace them) but they have now probably changed to Trading As British Solar after possible threats of legal action from the other legitimate businesses in the UK who use the Green Energy brand to trade.

Lastly I should also list here the other phone numbers that have appeared on my Caller Display CLI when British Solar has tried to call me lately.

These were mobile phone numbers 07847 605767 on 6th December 2013 and mobile phone number 07914 727302 on 11th December.  However these mobiles are almost certainly pay as you go SIMs that have not been registered so that they cannot be traced.  For instance Virgin Mobile have an unlimited calls plan for just £10 per month that can be used on one of their Pay As You Go phones.

In addition I have also received more than one call from their so called Diary Manager at British Solar who is responsible for setting up the follow on Cold Call visits to people's homes on what appears to be the real landline number for British Solar/Green Energy Alternatives (the one behind the 0800 number) of 01277 202918.  He also called me from his home yesterday evening about a sales visit scheduled for this morning but sadly withheld his telephone number on that occasion.

I would also note that I tried to report Green Energy to the TPS several months ago but due to the confusion about the multiple Green Energy company identities and the TPS's lousy reporting form that no longer asks for the website or company registered address they came back to me claiming that the company I had complained about was legitimate and that another company was passing themselves off as the company I had complained about.!!!  The TPS really are about as useful as a Chocolate Teapot in helping to protect the pubic against this major and quite deliberate attempt at fraud.
