I had the same problem. Lots of missed calls when I'm out. They use an automated dialer, so when you pick up the phone, if there's just silence, it's because THEY do not have enough staff at THEIR end to take the call they have just dialled! This is irritating, and thanks to the Govt., perfectly legal. I imagine it would be quite frightening for someone who is elderly or infirm - but who cares about them? Not British Gas, that's for sure! (6% price rise, anyone?) Anyway, I have phoned 0800 724150 to be removed from their list, so we'll see...  :)

I have had calls from what was a unknown source but now find
it is British Gas....I have not picked the phone up to answer as
I did not recognise the number as I have caller display but I always
know if it is important because people leave a message....but
not this number so I refuse to answer.. It is becoming a absolute
pain, and they are ringing at all hours...surely one can put a stop
to this sort of harassment.

i called these idiots and told them i was not a British gas customer and to take my number off thier list and stop calling, they  appologised and said they would do as i asked, easy....or so i thought, got home today and there was another call from them   ok it has been a month since the last call. but they are still at it,

yep its british gas, who i left ages ago. They keep your number for those irritating call centre offers on cheaper deals....not interested otherwise i wouldn't have left in the first place.....thumbs down british gas

My 76 year old father who has a hearing problem took a call from this number, unfortunately, he was slow in answering the call and part of it was recorded on my answer machine whilst I was out, conversation went like this British Gas "Hello is Mrs Thomson available?"  My Father replied"I am sorry I cannot hear you, no I am sorry she is out" British Gas " This is Joanna from British Gas can we talk to Mr Thomson?" My Father "I am sorry I cannot hear you, no I am sorry he is out thank you", my father then put the phone down as he was wearing new hearing aids and could not hear properly using the phone.  This conversation was recorded on my answer phone, but as my father put the phone down the answer machine kept running and I heard quote from Joanna at British Gas "I must be talking a foreign language" - I am absolutely fuming over this and wish to find out who Joanna is and have her reported to her superiors, from listening to the phone call it is obvious a) my father is elderly and b) he is deaf - C) Obviously Joanna needs to be retrained in her customer service attitude which stinks!

Hi, could you please let me know what number you dialed, as I have called 0800 072 4699 and it is an answer M/C stating we will call you back and I am not able to get through to anyone. I want to get through to complain about the attitude of one of their callers to my 76 year old partially deaf father; they were rude.

I am with the telephone prefreence service bit stoll get these annoying calls. Why do these companies think we want to here from them!

I agree 100% apart from bringing the candles back. Nothing would change, it would still be the same nuisance calls wick in and wick out ...!

Every day they phone me on my mobile. If I don't answer they leave a message.
I've had an email from them saying sorry, a letter saying the same. Finally got off the list, then it
started all over again. Their gas service must be rubbish if they can't get this right.
