this number has just rung me and i didnt know wether to answer it or not but i did and it was a man, he asked for me but i put it down.

wrang mobile said they were an energy company   hung up not interrested

This no calls every so often and I never pick up as I dont recognise no.  I have a program on phone Mr Block and I have blocked this no so will see if it works.

They just called me and asked if there was a Mr Humphreys there, I don't know anyone with that surname, I just wanted to know what it was for?

Received 8 missed calls on my mobile from this number in the past week, actually answered the phone today. It was "Jacob" wanting to speak to the bill payer for my gas and electric. I don't actually pay the bill, so he didn't want to talk to me, wanted a contact number for my partner. I refused, told him I wouldn't be passing on any information, unless he told me what it was about. He just repeated that it was about my "gas and electric" (about 15 time!!). Told him that that didn't tell me anything at all. The line went quiet and then he hung up.

I have had calls from this number a lot over these past few weeks. I never answer because its an 0800 number which I don't recognise. Today they left a voice mail where no one spoke but I could hear back ground chatter like people were in an office or call centre. This is getting so frustrating! Is there a way to block this number coming through?

well just rung them and there is a recorded message saying it is scotish and southern energy but can't accept calls at the moment. try the number on their site and it goes straight through, so thinkin it aint them

I got a call from this numberyesterday 16/04/12 at 19:16 and I didn't answer as I am used to these strange numbers bothering me every now and again.
I always check online and ALWAYS  find one of these threads about cold / silent calls.

I have been getting these calls for two months now saying they are from Scottish electric I have called the police today got a incident number they say not to pick up the phone please don't ring them back also due to it is a scam

If this is the first time well good luck I have had this for two months six to eight missed calls in one day and there is nothing I can do to stop it so the problem is not solved

I've received a few calls from this number to my mobile at various times of day - including weekends. I never answer them as I make a policy of not answering any calls on my mobile or landline unless I recognise the number from my contact lists and never ever if the caller has withheld their number.
If, as some people here have suggested, the call is from a marketing company representing what appears to be a number of mobile phone operators, could it be that I've started getting calls as my 2 years contract with my present provider is up for renewal in a couple of months time? Do phone providers like O2, Vodafone, TalkTalk etc., have access to or share account-holder information with one another?
Whatever the reason behind this recent spate of calls I've just registered with TPS. Tele-marketing is intrusive and should be outlawed!

i am tps registered, and totally agree with telesales being outlawed, its well past it sell by date.
had annoying recorded messages a while back that would not allow outgoing calls until entire message played , even if i hung up it still played, these type of call were recently banned in usa, as and same here people were unable to call emergency services because of these stupid halfwitted messages potentially putting someones life at risk.

I just got the same phone call saying they were southern electrics and they asked me if i wanted to change my electric provider. im 15. i dont own electric!

This is scam to get your personal information and get money out of you! - they have been ringing my mobile and my home number for a week - several times a day - today they claimed they were a debt collection service acting for another cmpany, and were not cold calling - I told em to get lost cos I am not in debt. They knew my name though.

think its southern electric call 08009524874 and they remove your number, i entered a comp and won of the options was did you want saving by southern electric and i answered no but they still ring.

I Kept getting missed calls from this number i phoned back an it was scotish energy something, i have no idea how thry got my number or why they keep phoning but i called 8009524874 (its without the first zero as its my mobile they call, it took me to an automated message which gave me the option to have my details removed from their system,it says it takes 3-5 days so hopefull next week ill be free of them calling me

they call me every day, just had another call from them .. today 26.04.2012 at 13.43  I dont answer any number that is not on my phone list.  do not answer it, it could be premium line charging you, they could be identity thief, they could be anyone trying to allocate your phone network, area, country and to confirm the name of the person.

nerver give your real name

nerver get into conversation.

you should be the one asking questions

if you have to answer the call, make sure

you ask for their name

they direct phone number

their office address

and DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL DETAILS,  just politely, say, thank you, I will be in touch. do your own research , if sounds doggy, report it
