I have had 2 calls from this number, a man with an irish accent, claiming to be from SSE (scottish & southern energy)  first call last month the guy was very insistant that we take out gas boiler cover there and then or we would not get the great deal he was offering, he kept asking my husband questions to confirm names address, then BANK DETAILS!! alarm bells started ringing so he told  the man he was not giving out this info and he was not interested, the man got quite stroppy and hung up.
Then yesterday another call, which i took this time, again from an irish man called Sean, claiming to be from SSE, oh he was very nice and polite, coz there good at that, but  when i said i was not interested as i was sick of similar scam callers he tried to convince me he new things that no other caller would know like how i made my gas and elec bills, my husbands name, felt like saying 'HELLO' you gathered that info on your last call, had to tell him politely to get lost!  SICK TO DEATH OF THESE PEOPLE!!

I just had a calll on my girlfriends number, when asked where they got the number and my girlfriends name  from he said that they used a website and get there data from their... when asked for the website details he gave me a site which has since come up as false.. if they call again i will be involving Offcom anf Offwat as they say there Scottish and Southern Energy....

We have never given this number out on any websites and I will be getting in touch with my mobile provider and asking them if sell our data.

This is LBM Marketing, notorious cold callers who will call 8 times a day or more claiming to be one of the energy companies, one of the mobile phone network, Sky etc.  DO NOT answer the call, if you answer they will call you all the more and do not call them back they WILL NOT remove your details & they WILL NOT stop calling!

Its a fake number ... ways to deal with this ...
smart phones you can now block phone numbers ... so store this number as a contact on your phone ... fake company or whatever you want to call it ... and then go to the view the contact and im sure u can block them .. iv just done it now so i will get no more calls from them

I had a call from this no 08009524854 to my mobile by 12:20 and this is  second time after few weeks. It's been ringing continuously for about 2-3 minutes but even I  didn't answer then either.

you can dial 0800 952 4874 and press 1 to opt out.  you shouldnt need to ofcourse.

They just called me asking for me saying that they are something electric,when i asked about it ( Can't remeber the name :/ ) they won't stop its like the 2nd time today and they will proberely call agian later is it a scam??

Phoned me today claiming to be Scottish Power.  The lady knew my name but as soon as she started talking about the energy bills I said no thank you and hung up.

Given that they've posed as phone companies before, I can only assume they've got the number from my provider because I'm not responsible for any utilities in my property and have never been registered with anyone for any utilities.

Correction:  It wasn't Scottish Power, it was Scottish Hydro Electric, like Ruben said.

Thanks to ISR for that number above.  I called that and confirmed I'd like my number removed so I'll see if it actually works.

They called me at 12.42 on 04.05.2012, I didn't answer because I didn't now who it was

Just had a call off this number, luckily I was at work and therefore, couldn't answer the call. Punched the number into a search engine and found this thread. I have now blocked the number on my phone. Thanks everyone! :-)

This number has been ringing me several times a week for some time and yesterday rang me twice. Today it rang again and I picked up. The chap said he was from Southern Electric and appeared to have my daughter's name for some reason (which has got to be illegal as she is a minor!)
