i work for a home improvements firm and have to make courtesy calls to existing customers.  over the last few months, when calling several of customers we get the same 'number changed message'.  our customers under no circumstances would ever dream of giving us a wrong number, or a number that is to be changed as they know we may need to get in touch.  something is wrong here and we must find out.

I rang my husband on his landline work number from my BT landline phone and my mobile (Orange) and got this message both times.  He actually rang me a few minutes later and I explained what had happened.  He then rang from his mobile to his office and it went straight through as normal!

I rang the 0843 number and just got the message that I was in a queue but no information to say which company own the number.

All very strange but as previously mentioned, I have nothing to do with TalkTalk.

I m calling from S Africa, trying to get information about a sick relative in the UK and was redirected and told the number had been changed, so it is now international.

I was called by this number (0843 116 3344) quite a few times in one day and left a message by Shirley to call her back about an urgent private matter.
I have called saying, as the others have said, that the number had changed and to call a different number, which I did to find that I was in que for 11 minutes.
Who ever it is is a con artist and I would like to see it closed down for good.
I want to know who it is and why they are calling.................

i have had same problem as others here when i call my land line (which is talk talk by the way) from my orange mobile it will ring a few times then i get a recorded message saying that the number has changed to 08431163344 . seems like orange is infected now!

I checked my telephone  bill from Talk Talk to find 34 calls to 01308211111,01308211112,01308212222,0130811211,01308211121 and 01308212121.I have called all the above numbers and an auto voice states that the numbers has been changed to 08431163344.
It is quite clear that it's a scam and it would be very stupid to ring the number without knowing what the cost would be. I have checked my computer for dialler Trojans withAVG and  spy bot,THE SYSTEM IS CLEAN. I live alone so no other person could have made calls. I looks as though the problem is with Talk Talk.

My mother tried to call me all day today and was greeted with this message, she is with utilitywarehouse for phone and broadband, and i am with SKY, so its not just a talktalk issue by the looks of it.

I called the Royal Chase Hotel Shaftesbury this morning to be given the same message.
I sent them an email and they replied saying that their number had not changed.
I just rang it again and it was fine.
I'm with BT.
Maybe I misdialled, but I don't think so.

I'm hard of hearing, so I listened to the message while it repeated a few times.
Then I heard the ringing tone and assumed that I was automatically being put through, but then it answered with the same message again.

I called 01794 703367 number given for Loss Prevention Team for Debenhams Store and was greeted with an automated message to say the number had been changed to 08431163344. When I called this number was kept on hold for ages. I called off a work mobile Vodaphone in relation to my work. So not got the worry about a huge bill myself, still very annoying!

The number belongs to KUONI, the travel agents.

I saw this number itemised on my Vodafone bill.  My wife recalled the voice message of the sort other users refer to above ("number changed") and the actual person called -a friend bereaved.

There is possibly some kind of scam going on here with whoverver runs the 0843 number creaming off 10% (or whatever) of the revenues accruing to legitimate phone companies.

Vodafone has agreed to refund the £2.52 charged to my bill for a number type outside the monthly allowance.  I have informed the phone company of the suspected scam and suggest others do the same -even if they are not charged for the call.

0n the 17/11/2010 i got a bill for £8-23 to a phone 08431163344. from virgin. i did not make this call. there is no record of this call on my phone. WHO ARE THEY ?

Phone Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre at 01392 403578 got a message saying there number has changed please call this number  08431163344 and was told to hold as lines were busy I held on for twenty minutes then gave up. Phone the hospital again using yell.com and got the operator and complained.

I just called Citizens Advice and was told their number had changed and I should call 08431163344 and was in a queue. Any idea how much that number costs?

i noticed on my phone bill i made a call to this number.  I was not in the house over the whole weekend when this call apparently took place.  also the number has been changed from 01661664117 to 084311663344.... when calling this number it answers saying your call will be answered soon.  I just hung up.   Any ideas who it is and how this call was charged on my bill when not dialled out?

The number belongs to Mars Communications 0207 455 3000 which is a 3rd party answering company who will get Neil the owner to call back if he feels like it.

This is rearing it's ugly head again. Each time my wife calls me from her work, it switches to an automated voice, saying she needs to re-dial this number.
We have not dialled it based on some of the comments on here.

How do you know this please. I have looked at Kuoni sites but there is no evidence of this number.
