- JimThey have called me today and yesterday, no one speaks, googled the number and it lead me here 08450451530. I did a quote on gocompare.com and now this?
- pankyGot a call from this number 2 hours after I logged onto Compare the market .com and got a quote for house insurance. They phoned on my mobile which was the only number I had entered on the website. I didn't answer the call as I was busy
- lynseyNo one says anything !
PLEASE STOP !- Caller: ?
- PeteSeveral calls over last few days, whilst I was out... am waiting to speak to them, like others I've used GoCompare etc for insurance, which is due shortly. One method that seems to work with persistant callers is to string them along, ask questions, appear interested until it gets to the nitty gritty, and then give them a hard time. Where did you get my number? Are you aware of the TPS? When they ask for your name, say you cannot give it because of data protection (their reaction to that can be amusing!). Ask for the "assistant's" name, and to spell it as you write. And the company name, also spell it out. They mostly say that they cannot give source details due to "data protection" but that you must have, at some time, given permission to some comapany, and their agents, associates and "selected partners" to contact you. OK, maybe you did and maybe not. Well, now revoke that permission, preferably using the "assistant's" name frequently. Spell it out to them in no uncertain terms, and thank them for recording the call, as it may provide useful evidence. "I am now requesting you (name) to remove my details from your records, am revoking any permission that you claim I have given to contact me, and if you ever do contact me again I shall report your company to the relevant authorities, quoting your name as an agent of that company. Do I make myself clear (name)? .... Will you now confirm that you have removed my name from your records and assure me that your organisation will not contact me in the future? .....
It takes up a little time, but can be quite fun. Especially the point at which you switch from being Mr Interested-Niceguy to Jeremy Paxman's twin. The combination of wasting THEIR time (especially as opposee to their wasting YOUR time) can be quite satisfying and effective too, as salesmen work on results - timewasters are avoided - so get avoided! And the threats of repercussions if they contact you again after you've made a formal request to cease should get through to them that you are unlikely ever to be a customer, only a pain! - carol08450451530 keeps calling when I answer the call just drops out
- Caller: don't know
- steveAh I see. I applied for an insurance quote on line yesterday and gave my telephone number.
Think it has been loaded into their auto dialling system.
I had the 0845 number dial me this morning but when it hit the answer machine they hung up.When I re dialed them they hung up after 4 rings. - GillSince having looked at car insurance quotes online this number is ringing 3 - 4 times a day but only ringing 4 times so haven't had time to answer as have to get downstairs. They never leave a messsage and am getting very fed up with this.
- Wise One4pm called and nothing on answerphone. It's spam and cold calling. Do not trust them.
- Fish HeadKeep getting calls from this number. Don't know who it is, but have just dealt with insurance comparision sites.
- Stuey| 1 replyKeep getting calls from this number, they hang up after a few rings. INFURIATING.
I called the number back (using 141 prefix to withhold my number) and a recording announced they were "Insure for retirement" wanting to quote on home insurance.
And of course last week I compared Meerkats looking for a home insurance quote. Hmmm!
Seems the use of these comparison websites comes with a hefty fee, that of repeated infringment of my peace and quiet!!
Think I will be avoiding using them in the future and just revert back to the old fashioned way of getting quotes direct from each insurer.
I am also registered with TPS btw, which seems to stand for Totally Pointless Service.- Caller: Insure for retirement

- DJ replies to StueyI've had a half a dozen calls from 08450451530 in the past 48 hours. Interestingly, I did not use a price comparison website for my house insurance. I've been with Abbey/Santander for a few years but in the past 18 months they've stuffed up bank accounts, credit cards and a contents insurance claim. So with my house insurance renewal coming due in a fortnight, I contacted Santander and told their call centre rep I would be taking my business elsewhere (and why). Within a couple of hours—and before I'd started looking for quotes—the phone calls from 08450451530 had started. Either Santander is passing on details or their staff are. Not good.
- LeaveMeAloneInsurance company. Have been plagueing me with calls ever since I used confused.com for a house insurance quote.
- Caller: Insure for retirement
- CrankyCold calling. I do not give my telephone number to businesses therefore I do not trust cold callers. I do not put telephone numbers on web site or anywhere so cold calling. Do not trust them or use them. I only deal with people or businesses I contact not the other way around:(

- RustyReading above my house insurance due 1 April and have had Co-op send new details through - too dear, will look elsewhere. Tried confused.com and have reinsured with the company I wish, far better price for same things (they do not pass your info on!). However, I have never dealt with Santander (any form, B&B, Abbey or A&L). Why these calls keep coming is a mystery and around this time each year they do! Fortunately they get the answer machine and waste their money with call not mine and like above I never deal with any cold callers either from phone, front door or letters.

- KezzaMy calls started, from this number, and others after using Compare the Market. I NEVER allow companies to pass on my details and am also ex-directory/TPS. Was furious and emailed CTM. No response yet. And Retirement Insurance? I'm nowhere near that age!
- AndyThey have been phoning all week no one at the end so now I've switched my phone off

- ex-insurance manok so every1 seems a lil anoyed! those of you getting calls on bahalf of comparison sites its becuas they were the cheepest.. or so they wre told by the comparison site who has sold your number to them in return for commision for the sale so blame them. those of you getting cold calls its becuase of tick boxs! watch what you tick! or your gunna get more! its not there fault! there just doing there job. I4R use something called a progressive dialer its only dials for 20 seconds thats why some of you may not get there in time or just enuf time that theybv just hung up.
sometimesthe agents dont get to hear you pick up the phone thats why sometimes its dead. probally cos they have you on mute an they havent heard you say hello. and the progressive dialer atho an seems an evil system its something sett by the FSA (finantial services authority) so if the computer automatically hangs up on you. then next time it calls you it makes sure it rings after the agent has picked up the phone. this is to stop it from hanging up again. best thing if you want to stop the calls is to answer them and askd to be excluded! OR go 4 the quote! only takes 5 minits an whats the harm probly end up saving ou lots of money. but then again mabey not! if ur with castle cover, fifty+ or swintons dont bother ur getting it cheeper already if not go 4 the quote ull save more! but quick hint! if you are with castle! there sellling there customers off to other companys soon! so get out while you can or expect a HIGH renewal.- Caller: i4r

- Neil MccInsure for retirement. I went on gocompare to see how much i could save. This was one of the quotes but didn't accept anything. Now keep phoning and hassleing. Gonna steer clear of gocompare if this is what happens.

- GeoffBesides silent calls, today 08450451530 was attempting to sell me retirement insurance. I kept repeating that they were not speaking clearly, after telling them that three times they put the phone down.
My advice is to report them to OFCOM. Fill in the complaint form available on their webb site.
I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service but this does not deter these people and other call centres like them.- Caller: Selling Retirement Insurance
