This is Scott & Co - a parasite company who claim to be Sherriff Officers and use intimidation to collect debts. I've been harrased by them for about 7 years but they have no real teeth. I've asked them many times to really take me to court and not just threaten to do it. Guess what - never happens. Court Warrants, bankrupcy, Bailiffs, wage arrestments - I've heard it all - trust me it won't happen. All they want is your money because they've bought your debt for a pittance and want to make a return on their purchase. At some point they will offer you a deal which is a huge discount on the original debt. Do what I've done and save the number in your phone as S & Co and ignore, Ignore, Ignore.

I received a call from 08451295199 saying I had to return the call immediately.
His name was Alan and he was available till 6pm. I have not called back because he did not state the purpose of the call..... how did he get my number!??!

Just had a call from this bunch. Have been having loads of answerphone messages too but they are so cack at leaving their details I've never been able to fully hear what they were mumbling whilst chewing on a baguette.
Turns out they wanted to speak to my ex who I split from 5 years ago. I've moved twice since. He doesn't have my new landline yet they said he must have given them the number. I told them they were wrong & that was impossible. They then asked me how my number would have got on their database - shows how stupid their callmaker is.
As I've deleted all his details I couldn't pass them on (as I'd quite happily have him get the phonecalls!!).  Just wonder which of his many many debts has now caught him up.
I called their number back & it is still Scott & Co.

scott and co sound familiar. i do owe them money but ive already written to them to let them know the council are dragging there heels about how much rent i owe and so till thats sorted i cant do bugger all as i need every penny for my rent right now but once its sorted i will pay them.

never spoke and when i hung up my line was blocked for few mins

Just hangup on these [***], these type of companies BUY debt and try to make profit from it, just ignore them or tell them to [***] off, NEVER tell them anything if they ask you to confirm your name or D.O.B on the phone.

phoned totally asking for someone who does not live at this adress and has no relevance to this adress after i persisted to say no they do not live here and never have(as new build house) they persisted to say my address and asking about the man whom i have never heard of


will they go any further?

Hi Laura jst read a few of the posts on this page , so on that basis you can take your debt and RAM it up your [***] , how dare you threaten to send your monkeys to my door to take my belongings , good luck with that , set of bams making money off other peoples debt , bloody terrible.

I've had 3 calls from this company recently, regarding the flat next door.  My other half shares the same surname as the guy next door that they keep asking for (no relation or connections to him other than sharing the same close).  I'm assuming they are going by the directory enquires and not paying close enough attention to the actual address stated there. Getting a bid bed up of companies getting confused by this as TV Licensing also has.

If they continue to make phone calls to this flat due to their error I will be seeking legal action.

Not sure if this applies to Scotland only but its Scott & Co, the solicitors used by the council if you've missed council tax payments!

As the council took 7 months to sort out my c.tax (moved in half way through a year & entitled to single persons discount) they started to get a bit nippy with me & wanted the full amount up front which i didnt have so just paid what i could online every month. They may send letter after letter and not do much for years but they will pass it to sheriff courts, who will appear at your door and will add on a warrant charge & a visiting charge to your 'debt' for their visit!

Have had many calls from this number (answered last two) but they hung up.
If it is Scott & Co why are they bothering me. I split with my partner of numerous years, 2 years ago and council tax was in her name only (fully paid when I moved out). I am now staying with different relatives so am not down for council tax.
Previous to that I worked for Aberdeen city council and had an arrangement for council tax to be paid direct from employer which was great as I always knew it was paid before I got my wages.
Am getting quite annoyed with them I get calls on different days and times the worst was 21.57 on Sunday  11th March 2012.
If anybody knows how to get them to stop calling please help.

Got a call from 08451295199 at 15.58 today on my mobile.  I missed the call and they did not leave a message. If it is Scott & Co, the sheriff officers, I have no idea why they would be calling me as I am under 18 and do not pay council tax. I know they arrest bank accounts and often  get the father or mothers name mixed up and end up arresting  the child's bank account!

I just got a phonecall from South Lanarkshire Council and gave me a number to phone back. I dialled 1471 and got this number instead.
