My mother found a message on the answer phone and just had a call asking for me and that I should call Lloyds TSB back urgently on 0845 6006393 regarding my account details, this is most definitely a scam as I do not have, and never have had, an account with Lloyds, they're just trying their luck. Definitely do not call back.

I too got a call for my son (from a call centre in India). What worried me was that it launched straight into give me your credit card number. I decided to call LTSB direct from the number suppled on the website for 24/7 banking and they confirmed that the number 08456006393 was indeed a credit card collection.number.

Kept getting voicemail messages (1 per day) from a number 01273743574 asking me to call 08456006393.  They were trying to contact someone called Ashley Collin - don't know who he/she is and I don't even have an account with Lloyds.  Was getting fed up so I rang them on the 0845 number they supplied.  When they answered they said it was Lloyds TSB credit card services.  I told them I didn't know this person and that I don't have an account with them.  They asked me 3 times if I knew this person and If he lived at my address and didn't seem to believe me when I said I didn't!!  They also asked for my address which I refused to give them.  In the end they said that they would remove my number and that I would not be getting any more calls from them.  Let's see if they ring again tomorrow...

I received an unsolicited call on my mobile phone form 08456006393. Thankfully I wasn't availble to take the call so they left a recorded message stating the number and opening hours but not who the company is. However it has cost me to pick up the message. As I only use my mobile for emergency texts to family and close friends I dont know why or how this compny got my number. I gather from the internet that this is a Lloyds bank call number. In which case I am thoroughly not impressed as I do not expect a bank to be cold calling.

Someone called my elderly mother about a Lloyds TSB matter.  Fortunately she couldn't understand them and passed the phone to me.  They asked for her address as a security check and I got their phone number and said I'd ring back when I had verified they were who they said.  A quick internet check showed that this was, as I suspected, a scam.  We live in Bournemouth, in the south of England.

I had a call this morning from someone pretending to be calling from Lloyd TSB. As I was not prepared to struggle to understand the strong accent and I was suspicious, I said I was not interested and put the phone down. Tonight I discovered they had left me a voicemail, asking me to ring 0845 600 6393 to discuss a personal business matter. I am not responding to any email or telephone messages of this kind; if it is from the Bank they should write to me.

I thought it was a scam too, so went to my local Lloyds bank which rang the numbers concerned and it seems to be a credit card centre contacting the people who haven't paid the minimum payment they owe. I hadn't received a statement last month, so couldn't pay my bill in time. In fact I owed  Lloyds about £11 and an interest of 14p!! and this is the reason for the phone calls.  I still think they should not phone people for that kind of thing but should write instead.

I have just rang Lloyds TSB  Customer Help Line to make sure all this is not a scam and was answered by a lady with such a strong indian accent that neither I or my husband could understand her.  I asked if she could put me through to the manager and I guessed she said he'd ring me tonight. I hope I understood right and that the manager will be easier to understand!

I did call the number associated with the Lloyds website after reading this thread... but there was indeed an issue with them not processing a payment I needed to discuss so it is mighty odd that the 6393 number knew about it if it was not genuine? This message left was cryptic and suspicious... "Business Matters" but everything points to it being genuine. Pretty much what Arron E says on page 1, Reiss on Page 2 and Froggy on page 3 (need I go on?). You also have to take into account that this would have been going on at least 2 1/2 years now without them being stopped which is unlikely. They will just ask for your card number and check you know your details (first line of address, DOB etc.). They will not/should not ask for the 3 digit security code (which someone would need to use your card anyway), unless you opt to settle any outstanding debt over the phone. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, don't give them the code and use another method of payment.

I was able to sort it from the number given on the Lloyds site so if in doubt just use that number. It really would have been more sensible for them/Lloyds to give that number on the recording as this has caused some 2 1/2 years of confusion in this thread.

I'd double check your facts "Lloyds Employee". Which should be easy if you are an "employee" of "Lloyds". Your last message in particular makes me feel sorry for poor Andy (Andy clearly explained what he did, which you should be able to do as well). On the plus side Andy will probably never read it! You could ask your manager and then ring the number and get them to confirm they are genuine. Unless a message goes up on the official Lloyds website that the 6393 number is a known fake number (which they should have been able to do within 2 1/2 years, let alone stop the number as previously mentioned) you are talking trash.

    All the best then,

    Adam

I also got a message from a relative at my old home saying they had a phonecall from my bank and told me a needed to ring this number, which i then did.
it came up with the standard lloyds answer phone message of keying in your card numbers and put me through to a man called 'alan' who sounded very much of indian descent.
he told me about an outstanding credit card debt (which was accurate, as in it is the same amount i owe according to my online statement) and informed me that i needed to pay this balance.

i chose to pay by phone and handed over my details, however as normally i would never do such a thing i became very paranoid afterwards and came on the internet to check out the number (as i had had to inform the person of my details, including debit card numbers, however they were aware of my home address the exact amount i owed (which matches my online statement) and he was able to look at previous payments i had made into my credit card account before i imparted any information (he certainly wouldn't have known my online password or pincode so i figured he must have had access to it through however the bank call centres generally do, through a database of some kind i guess).

so yes, after reading 'scam scam scam' on here i got worried and went online to find the number to call to cancel both my cards, however when i got through lloyds i asked the woman if first would she be able to check whether the number 0845 600 6393 was a genuine lloyds tsb number. after some searching (it was 1 in the morning so well out of office hours) she assured me that the number was indeed a lloyds number and when she rang it herself she too felt it was the official lloyds answering phone.
when i then asked what the number was for she informed me it was for credit card collections, which matched what i had been told when i asked 'alan' what department he was and what number he was.

this leads me to think that the number is indeed genuine.

if this is a scam then it is the most well organised, hidden and deep set scan i have ever come across, although my paranoia does dictate that i will be going into my branch to confirm this as soon as possible! and keep another close eye online...

so yes. contacting lloyds and the information given to me leads me to thnk this number is a genuine number to deal with credit card collection for lloyds tsb.

to summise when all the above occurred my old home phone number was contacted sometime in the late afternoon on dec 30th 2010, around 5-6pm i made the call back on my mobile to this number, the above occured.

then at around 1.30am on dec 31st i rang 0800 096 9779 to cancel my cards, which i found here http://www.lloydstsb.com/credit_cards/credit_card_phone_numbers.asp and the woman who answered (sharon) informed me that the 08456006393 number IS a GENUINE number lloyds tsb use for credit card collections.
as a further note she told me they also use numbers ending in 6394 and 6395 in the same dept.

hope this helps! tried to be as comprehensive as possible

Had a call on my office phone yesterday Sunday 16th Jan 2011 and a message was left for me to call 08456006393.
Called the number and person at the other end claimed to be Lloyds Bank but could give me no proof. Requested my Credit Card Number - I refused and asked to speak to a manager. This request was refused and eventually the line went dead.
