I received several calls from this number. I finally picked up and was told by an automaton that the call was a message for me. However there were no instructions as to how to receive this message, so I hung up.

There is far too much incorrect information about this free to answer BT owned fully automated text to speech to landline translation and relay service number. Most phone providers and many businesses use this service to ensure text messages sent to non text enabled housephones are delivered.

When a text is sent to a non text enabled housephone the system will divert it to one of these audio text translation services. The service wil then relay it. This BT service is the largest.

When you pick up the ringing phone you will always be told the originating number by this BT system. You will then be offered options to press buttons on your phone. Ignore them. No one with any sense will press buttons on their phone if a bot voice tells you.  Hang on and do nothing except listen. The message will be read out when the bot voice runs out of options.

Emojis, gifs, attachments,  links etc can cause the entire message to fail or spout nonsense as can messages in a foreign language or long complex numbers like order numbers. Messages are deleted after 24 hours.

You can reset the curfew time or block this number at source by calling freephone 08005875252 from your housephone. This system cannot work on mobile phones or answerphones

I've had 3 calls from this number today. I don't answer, i just google the number later. I did notice this number has been in use for more than 10 years...
