0845 602 1111 is the text message service for land lines. So, if you send a text to someone at home, they will still receive your message. It read to them electronically. Nothing sinister. Except, I don't know how mcuh it costs! Possibly standard 0845 rates, I assume.

I received a call at 21.45 last night on my land-line from this 021111 number and I got part of a message to say I needed to send a copy of my drivers licence .....  no idea to whom or what it was about!!!  Tried ringing it back again and got even less of the original message than the first time. Decided to be more careful with this type of message in future and I'll check my phone bill when it arrives to see what I got charged.  Hum.

I had my first experience of this today - and like many others suspected this may be one of those 'scam phone calls' etc. etc.  Message from 12345

As it transpired - my wife had ordered an item from Woolworths and it was a message from them to tell me the item was now in stock for collection.

Nice to read the comments from others on here!  ...and I feel sorry for those of you experiencing calls at 4am - there needs to be some level of control here.  I'm not that desperate to be told my item is ready for collection!

this no. called at 8.10 am this morning. but did not answer, as i nevr answer unless i'm expecting a call, especially not this early. when i picked up the phone to dial 1471, there was no dial tone and seemd to be connected to someone!? not sure if this i possible?!

Called nine times today while I was out for a few hours.

Twice in 5 minutes just now! Hence why i searched the number. I didn't answer it as I have only used this line for faxes in the last 5 years. EVERYONE that has a number for me has my mobile number. I never pick up my landline due to junk calls, which in all fairness have been fewer since registering with TPS a few years ago.

Called the number, it is the BT SMS Voice Text Store.

Hi. have been at home all day and this 0845 number has been driving me mad ! Thanks to everyone on this forum, I have found out that its a BT SMS service. Just dialled 0800587525215 and cancelled calls to my number. Reckon some sad t**t is trying it on - well, the joke is on you now sucker ! Sleep tight. Big D :-)

had this hoak call at 6.30 tuesday

My parents just got bugged by one of these calls at 2 mins past midnight - put my old dear in a right old state it did... It should have been pretty obvious to BT that this "service" is a spammer's delight. Lanfline numbers, unlike mobiles, are easily obtainable via the (CD) phone book! So your spammer has a ready-made list of working numbers to attack. I give it a month before everyone in the UK dials 0800 587 5252 then 1 then 5 and cancels the thing...

This number called me today at midday.  It is a legitimate number (for once!).  An item I had ordered from Woolworths was ready for collection.

I received a text call this evening, couldn't answer at the time so saved it, rang 08456021111 (number given to me) to hear it, couldn't make out what the person said, something about £150 tomorrow - gave 07810390833 for me to ring back - didn't do so.  The call was at 9.02 p.m. Tuesday, 20th May 2008. is this a scam or a genuine caller ?? perhas you could let me know.  Thanks.

The number is a genuine SMS bureau service.

However, all it does is relay messages left for your landline number.

If your number has been incorrectly entered instead of the one the person really wanted, or if the message is originated by an idiot, then it becomes a nuisance call.  

This service has been around for a couple of years and was set up as an Opt-Out service for landlines.

If you don't want to receive this kind of message call the 0800 number listed in earlier postings above and Opt Out.

Had 3 calls from this number, saying I had an SMS message but there were no messages left.

Who is making these calls?

Perfectly legitimate text message service from BT. Effin garbage though as the message it told me about was one isent the day before.

The 08456021111 no. kept ringing every 15 mins whilst Heartbeat was on tonight. So I unpluged the line. Do not know if the no. rang again, only just reconnected to access this forum. May ring the 08005875252 if it happens again. Interupt me Heartbeat indeed, the twatts.
