called every 2 hours for last two days says its bt text no messages not even with bt wish they would stop goes on till ten at night

they rang me at 11pm but i didnt pick up!

They just rang for the second time today at 11.20pm!!!  Never had them before today but another forum reckons you can call 0800 587 5252 and ask for those calls to STOP!

Received a call from  08456021111 at 18.20 today. When I answered a recorded voice told me the office was nmpow closed however identified itself as "sesame ......." When I rang 15 minutes later the recorded voice ststed that it was a BT text service.

i am with virgin but i still get them, they are legit!

To turn off the BT sms service there is a BT freephone number 0800 587 5252. Choose option 1 then option 5.

I had 10 of these calls yesterday. From 10.45 am - 9.pm I'm with ntl. Have Caller Display, ignore the t**ts.

Just got one of these calls. It was from Woolworths regarding an order I'd made.

If you ring this number 0800 587 5252 you can adjust what time you'd like to receive these texts. BT can block them after a certain time. Just found this out through ringing 100

Have had 5 calls this morning from this number, we're on Virgin and don't have text messaging to the house phone (and it's ex directory). Haven't made any orders so confused by this?!

will not answer this number, needs regulating - ie advising if the call will cost to answer!

08456 021111 is a legitimate service provided to everyone who has a British Telecom phone. It happens when a third party sends a text message to your land line.  

If you want to stop them, or control when you are called by the service, call 0800 587 5252.  http://www.bt.com/bttext/

I am with BT and I have just sent myself a text message from my mobile to my house phone and when it rang, the follow caller number was displayed: 07953966066. I called back the number 07953966066 from my home phone and it said that I have 1 message stored. So the missed call I have from 08456021111 is definitley not BT message answering service and I will not be calling it back to find out who they are. If you are with BT try calling this number 07953966066  and you will hear that this is BT's message answering service.

Just had this number (08456 021111) ring my landline at 10.45 - dubious about it, but after reading all of the above gave it a try.  It is from BT's SMS service and there was a legitimate message from my daughter who's abroad on business.

Who are these people, why do they call?  If a company can't be bothered to allow their name to show then I can't be bothered to answer a call from someon I don't know.  They are time wasters and I will not answer the phone to strangers if they want to get in touch with me try writing, instead of harrassing me by phone.Put on the answer phone with no message and let them waste phone call money.If more people did his maybe they'd get the messageand STOP annoying people especially the elderly and those on their own when they phone after 10pm.  I also never phone a number starting with 0845 or 0870 Why should WE pay to call someone we don't wish to speak to. Bloody nerve of them.

my phone rang at 750 this morning when i did 1471 it was the above 0845 number saying my account was temporarily locked. i also noticed i had some messages as my sone was not in i thought it was a message from him when i listened to it it was a long number beginnin with 999 i started to worry and a voice at the end of it said 'snow' there was indee snow outside.....what was that all about qhen i first looked on the net about this number people were talking about  bt and voipfone and skipfone what is that oh and i am ntl not bt. someone else said it cost 10 pound to retrieve a message hope this isn true...........

Had 4 calls from 08456021111 in 15 mins.Let them ring out and then referenced the number as we are being plauged by rubbish calls during the day time.Recently had very bad experience with BT and data calls to chile that i will post elsewhere if i can locate it on site

Just had one of these calls. Called the 0800 587 5252 number and stopped everything.
Said it should take 20mins to take effect so with any luck it will work. Also talked about a curfew on messages being automatically set for between 11pm and 8am.
I am not even with BT, I set nothing up. Who the hel are these people to do this?

had one of these calls. i didnt answer as i didnt know the number. after reading all the comments here i rang back the number and it was a sms service. it is a legit service as it was a friend of my husbands telling him he would pick him up. so it is ok to go ahead and answer this number.

yeh i got a call from this number one day, then 2 days later, now more frequent and its got as bad as every day it keeps ringing the house. Today it rang at 8:15am and then again at 8:20am twice in the space of 5 mins woke me up to listen to some absolute garbage recording about landscaping i mean what the hells that all about. Again it called 4 more times later this same day, and just now at 9:30pm. 7 Call in total during the space of a day.
