Just had this call.
Wanted to tell me about government grant that my property was entitled to!!
Which is brilliant deduction as I am not in the telephone directory.
After several requests to tell me who he wanted the same name came up as it has over the 5 years since I switched numbers.
Using  an extremely old phone record. Screams SCAM
Think his name sounded like RIT/RICK? but the accent may have obscured actual

I get very regular calls from people asking for a specifically named person. I would not be surprised if you were NOT on the their database from recent times but that they are using something so old it qualifies as an antique.

About 13 years ago I had an approach from a company who had harvested names and numbers claiming to set up a business directory. It would have cost £5 to be in or up to £4.95 to phone them and cancel. I did neither but some years later had a valid HMG approach as a business in which I was addressed by the incorrect spelling of my surname that had appeared in the directory literature!!!

Unfortunately some very old stuff is around but I only have to fend off those looking for the previous owner of my current number and add scammers to Caller ID as nuisance calls to be ignored, or phone lifted and replaced immediately

My mum received a call from this number about an hour ago asking to speak to the home owner, which my mum replied she is not available at the moment and they said not available now and hung up the phone. Also the english was very poor!

I was called by this number today at 6:25pm but i was out so never got round to answer it
