I just got a call from this number saying I received a grant for $7,500 but I had to send them $290 to receive it. When they said I was picked because I didn't have a criminal background and that I had to pay I new it was a scam because I do have a background. HOW do they get your numbers?

Received a call saying i was going to get a once  in a lifetime grant of 10,000$ and i only had to pay a fee of 180$ to receive it..i figured  it was bs so i looked it up to find out it was a scam.I spoke with  a  jack will that called from 206-866-5693 etc137 these ppl are bad and should be put away im just thinking im a single mother of 3 and they could of got me for what i dont even have..

I just received the same call? Sorry!! Uncle Sam doesn't just give money away without taxing it!!!

Grant money scam

How to report this scam ? I got a call from  this # they told me to send them 299. And I will get a grant for 7500.

Got a call from a man saying he is Paul Gilbert form US Grants.  Asked for my Birth date and address and said I can get a grant from the US Govt and to call 202-640-5461.  The original call to me was blocked.

I do not appreciate these scams!! They want me to go to a Walmart and spend $290 to verify my info then wait 15 minutes for a Money gram!! I don't think so.

They sent a message about a scam

I received a call today from Victoria at 000-012-1233. She spoke very poor English and proceeded to tried to convince me that I had received a $7500 award for not declaring bankruptcy, paying my bills on time and for filing income tax.  The money was being given out by the Federal Grant Department.  I responded, "You definitely have the wrong person".  She continued with her script and gave me the phone number 202-640-5461 to call with a confirmation number of VT143.  She advised I could get cash, Western Union, prepaid Visa card or a direct deposit into a bank account.

This number is now being used by AICR (American Institute for Cancer Research) for funds and if you block their calls, you will receive another shortly from another number, been there, done that, They even have a Fakebook page set up too at you can visit that at https://www.facebook.com/pages/American-Insti ... 107761702578379 and they claim to be a registered 501(c)(3) Charity Organization that does research or, in other words, a telemarketer that calls you every day asking for money.Called us yesterday and when I blocked that number they called again today at 11 am on this number 202-640-4030 but didn't leave a message so that means, yep you guessed it, robo calling. But, they are right in the middle of DC where the FCC and Congress allows this because of their "permit" as a Charity Organization. Thanks a lot!

here is a new number i was called from202 559 4607 i went and bought a prepaid card cause it sounded strange, i deposited 20 dollars on it cause i was not about to give these people that i didnt know my real account number, what loosers!

I just got called from that number and I'm scared of how they got my information ??

I received this same call trying to get me to get a greendot money pack and read the number off the back which will give them access to what ever the amount on the card is.  Per Chris Walton from the government grant dept.  this is a one time offer from the government of $8400.00 with a small processing fee of $215.00.  He then had the gall to tell me not to let the people in CVS/Walgreens know the money pack was for because they would charge a higher fee.  What a load of bull!!!.

I received a phone from a man calling from +1001211233 saying that they picked 2500 people from doing taxes to receive a government grant of $7500 and you have been chosen. He then gave a conf# TA104, saying that i can pick up the $7500 today and to call 202-640-5461 so that they can send me the money. I called that number and was told by a female to go to CVS pharmacy and put $300 on greendot card and call her back with credit card#. Was on my way there to do so when my friend mentioned it was a scam and his friend got scammed out of $140. So we turned around and I confirmed on the internet that is was indeed a scam.

I just recieved a call from a 202 407 9711 number telling me that i have been selected for a $9200 grant thats a once in a life time deal . Told me to go to a local store purchase a green dot card told me to put $195 on there then once i loaded the money to go to my bank and they would send me my 9200 .

Go to your local community charity.  (Red Cross, etc)  See if you can get some advice on how to better care for your children and yourself.  Maybe after this is sorted some educational course to prevent this happening again?  

Your very poor language skills suggests to me, you should NEVER hand out ANY money to someone you don't know until you get some advice beforehand.  If they say you need the money first, just hang up or walk away.

Try and remember.  Nothing comes for free.  If it looks too good to be true... It's probably is.

Sweetie, I am so sorry that you were taken. First of all, your antennas should always go up when you are told that you have won ANY TYPE of MONEY.  No one is going to randomly choose to give up the cash unless it is a sweepstakes of some kind and in order to get that you would have to have entered the sweepstakes.  Secondly, never, ever, ever, give your personal info to ANYONE on the phone unless you have done business with them in the past and they've proven to be trustworthy.  
If you did not enter a sweepstakes...you didn't win a sweepstakes. It's that simple!  That includes people who claim that you won a lottery. They will tell you this via mail. DON'T FALL FOR IT!  IT IS A SCAM! Why would someone in another country whom you don't know just give you millions or thousands of dollars?  THEY WON'T!  AND WHY DO YOU HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT?  THIS SCREAMS SCAM ALL OVER THE PLACE!  Be careful, please!
