Guy called, said he was from cbc radio and i would win a "something he mumbled" if i answered a few questions. lots of noise in the background. i hung up.

I received two calls from this number on my cell phone yesterday. The first time around it rang about two times and then it hung up. About six hours later, it was a little past 9 in the evening, the same number called again and I answered. A chap with an East Indian accent said he was 'Frank' from 'Telus'. I knew immediately that this wasn't true because a) nobody from Telus would call my Fido cell phone and b) if Telus were to call me, it wouldn't be from a fictitious number with a Manhattan area code. I told the person he certainly wasn't calling from Telus and to not call me back.

I got the same one as SpiritJacobs.

Then he asked me to confirm something (couldn't really hear)I think it was the number of cell phone users?  but then I said I had to go and hung up.

just got a call too but did not answer... Very strange that no one can trace this...

Just got the same thing, i didnt answer the call... buy i noticed alot of people taking about medication and what not someone also mentioned soemthing about an email they got.. i think i got the same one... im wondering if this is something to do with facebook having this info...

got a call from this number, dude said he was from telus, asked if i wanted a free samsung phone, told him i wasn't interested. he called at 9:30 pm so i knew it wasn't from telus. wierd.

I seem to be receiving more and more of these calls from various #'s, between noon and 3 pm.   and recently they've started calling on Saturday and Sunday.

Received two calls one after the other at 4:15 today, answered the 2nd one, said he was Dave from Liquidation World, I asked him where he got this number from (since it's unpublished)didn't answer, just carried on that they are opening a new store in Toronto, wanted to offer me....cut him off, told him I don't live anywhere near Toronto and to take my number off his list and not call again, he hung up. There was a lot of noise in the background, like a call centre.

Indian accented man, saying I had been selected for a free cellphone to be delivered to me in 3-5 business days, through my current cellphone company. Plus, since my contract was up for renewal, I would get all sorts of bonus minutes and features for free. Sounded too good to be true but he knew I had 2 lines on my account, which he would not know unless he was from the phone company. Apparently I should be receiving a follow-up call soon to confirm the details. Yikes!!

Wow, I just got the same call as some of the previous posts. Lots of static and background noise. Some guy with an accent (possibly Indian) telling me I filled out a ballot last Christmas and that I am a winner of one of five prizes. Knew my home address and first initial and last name. Had the wrong age range though, and that was strange. I asked him to tell me what information he had on this "ballot" and he listed my age range as close to double what it actually is. Then he got nervous and kept repeating the words "like" and "you know" and other nonsensical filler words.
I really hope I don't get another call from these scammers. I tried calling back but the number "does not exist or is not in service".

Beware of all telemarketing scams by East Indian callers. Since many businesses have located their call centers in India, information lists have been stolen from the call centers. This has resulted in several thousand fraudulent cases, that cannot be prosecuted by North American law because they originate in India.
Do not give out personal information that will result in identity theft. Report all cases to PhoneBusters.com immediately for further investigation by the RCMP or the FBI.

Called my cell phone said he was from My cell provider Telus Mobility, whcih is in Canada.  Offering a free cell phone.  I offered him a free "F*#ck off".

I got this number called me on my cell phone, but when i tried to call back it wasn't a real number

They are still at it. The approach is just like the April 2008 posts have described (south asian accent, "niose" in background like a call centre and tells me I've won a trip). The fact that they are asking to confirm name and address, etc. is a concern. I was also given an address in Etobicoke (Torotno) Ontario by the called (named Neil Johnson, if you will!) After askim him for information about the contest and his company he wanted to call back later and hung up. Hope it's the last I hear of them!

Got a call stating I won 1 0f 5 prizes but had to go to 216 Chrislea Rd Woodbridge L4L 8S5 to collect.  I asked him for his phone number so I could call him back to confirm the legitimacy of his offer,  he got a huffy and hng up.  I *69ed the call and got this number.  When I tried to call back they said it wasn't in service

Same Indian guy called tonight.  Told my wife she'd filled out a ballot and had a choice of prizes.  Told him we weren't interested and he was wasting her time and hung up.  He called three more times asking why she wasn't interested in getting her free prize.  No matter how rude we got, he hung in there.  We finally told him to "buzz off" and he finally did after the 4th call.

An Indian accent guy claiming to be from the "Canadian Gifting Services". They made up a story about me having filled up a ticket to win a prize seven months ago. I didn't waste time to find out more details.

indian guy called me said i'd won a tv ... just had to pay a shipping... a ballot that i filled out a zellers or sears or dominion..... i don't fill out ballots.... told him to pay it himself and give it to someone as a gift
