Has anyone gain employment after getting screened by veriresume? Yes or no
Because I applied for a job that I wanted for a long time and was excited to get the call from veriresume.  They told me that I successfully completed the first phase of the verification process and that I will be receiving a call in about 5 days for a interview.  Its been 6 days already.

I thought this was a legit call because my wife just got hired at a great company that used a verification company called "hireright".
The main difference I notice between the two was the seriousness.  Because hireright had my wife faxing proof of work history and other documents. She got called for the interview and landed the best job of her life.

Is veriresume a legit company with bad habits or a scam?

No, what they do is not illegal. It's not fraud because they aren't soliciting money from you. They only get your cell phone number because they asked for it, and you gave it to them, with permission to call. Not to mention that just because you don't get interviewed for the job doesn't mean the job didn't exist. If your looking for work and send out a dozen applications your lucky to get one response back because they get a bunch of people that apply. So we can't even prove that they're asking for your information under false pretenses -- so a lawsuit won't do anything but waste yours and a lawyer's time. It sucks, but it's true. The law is actually on their side.

If they call, tell them your no longer interested. Tell them they can't call you again. When you get an email, report it to your ISP as spam and they'll block it before it even gets to you. That's all you can really do. Cut off their revenue stream so they go out of business.

got a call from the 2133253204 number on my cell - the number i use on my career builder resume, this is only one of many different phishing places that seem to contact me through them, i am thinking of just taking the application down career builder seems to be like a net to catch people to give info

I received a call with a recording that said "Employment Select" and that I had recently applied for a job on-line and they were verifying the information.  The line went dead.  I called the number back and spoke to "Ian" who said he was pulling up some information -- then the line went dead again.

I also received a call from this number and as others have stated, I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number.

Thanks to everyone who has posted before me. Because of the above mentioned comments, I will not be calling this number back nor will I give them any information.

Instead of contacting Rip Off Report, why not everyone affected by this contact their local TV stations and Attorney General's Office? I'm no legal expert, but I would imagine something could be done to put a ky-bash on this scam.

I got a call from this number today with a hangup and no message.  I am looking for work and have filled out numerous applications online so may be the issue.  I don;t need a hassle though, just genuine interest in my resumes.

Just got a call 9:41am PDT and researched the number which led me here.  Went to VeriResume and no page on their site is working as evidenced by below:

I got a call from California at 9:20 am EST, which means 7 am their time. It was a machine that said, " blah blah blah, this call is to verify your information submitted on your resume.." I listened for a bit but the line went dead after that.

I'd just ignore their calls from now on.

Just received a call on my cell from this number.... automated voice stating I applied for a job and to please hold for the next rep..... CLICK - I hung up.

Just got a call from them for an "Adviser" position I applied for with a private university. The phone called seemed pretty legit to me. I didnt get any education offers or anything. Just called to verify my name, address, phone number, citizenship, and education level.  She said a representative from the company would contact me within 1-2 business days.  I asked her why she couldnt tell me the companies name and she said its because SHE didnt actually know the name of the company.  She was just given a list of people to call to "verify" and thats it.  I dont know...it didnt seem like a "SCAM" to me.  LOL I didnt get asked for my social security number or anything like that so thats good. I've been unemployed now for 3 months (was a high school teacher...laid off due to budget cuts) so hopefully this thing is legit.

isn't it a violation of the terms of use of job boards to troll information from it and cold call?  isn't it a violation of the do not call list to cold call someone on the list if the company has had no previous dealings with the individual?  isn't it also a gross misrepresentation to say you're calling on behalf of or for someone when you're not and furthermore not fully identify yourself in the process?  isn't it just bad business practice to call at an inapproperate hour (in my case 7:55 am eastern) to solicit busniess and call repeatedly without leaving a message or other identifying information (one might define that as harassment)?

reported them to the national do not call registry as the call i received was at an inapproperate hour, without identifiers as to exactly who they are and is supposedly by a company named veriresume which is a company i've not contacted myself or done any business with ever. https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx is the way to file a complaint.  I am also considering contating the better business bureau to notify the local office of this company's misuse of a call list since any place I applied says that they will notify me when doing a background and credit check as part of the applicaiton process and I never received that notification.

i got a call from this number and i answered. after 2 mins and 33 seconds the call ended. so i call back twice. both times the call ended at 2 mins and 33 seconds. i think this is a scam. its stupid that people wanna mess with people who need a job and get there hopes up that they might be getting a job

I got a call from them around 8 this morning.  I didn't answer.  Good thing I looked all this up.  I hope they don't text me.

i got the same thing as you did confused but yesterday i actually got ahold of someone but i was at work so he said to call him back because it could take anywhere from 5-30 minutes to get "verified" when i called back this morning all 5 of my calls were ended at 2 minutes and 30 seconds! i won't be calling them back thanks guys!!

I received a call from this number this morning informing me that they were calling on behalf of a company that I submitted an application for. They also did not reveal the company's name due to privacy issues. Heidi asked if I had some time (approx.5-45 min.) to verify some questions that pertained to my recent application with this (ghost) company, I informed Heidi that I was on my way to the office and would contact her when I got there. Well, when I arrived at the office I entered this telephone number into the computer and this is the information that I received, so I did not call them back. Thank You

I just got a call from this 213-325-3204 California telephone number, saying with an automated voice, that they were "Employment Select" and that they do employment verifications for a Company that will remain unnamed due to confidentiality, that I had already applied to. Likely story, I am actively looking for work right now. I applied to several Monster.com and other jobs yesterday. However, the so-called "Verification Specialist" never came on the line, and the telephone call eventually went dead. For Your Information - FYI - if you get troublesome telephone calls, you can <STAR>57 for a couple of dollars charge to your telephone bill, to record it with the authorities for later use, if you file a police report. Without Caller ID, you can also <STAR>69 to find out who called you, immediately after the call is made to you. Telemarketers are exempt, I think. You can also put your telephone number on Do Not Call - DNC - lists. However, if you call or apply for a job first, this does not apply, because you have established an ongoing business relationship with the caller, at least for the purposes of their initial call to you. Also, it takes telemarketers several weeks as an industry to process your Do Not Call request.

I recieved a call from this number just a moment ago.  I had applied for a position as an A/R Coordinator for a firm that was listed as confidential.  I really just wanted to learn more about the company and opportunities they had available.  

The phone call started with an automated message saying they were "Employment Select" and were calling to verify information on my resume as sort of a pre-screening for the position I applied for.  After waiting a moment a rep came on the phone and verified some info on my resume, nothing that I was worried about confirming to anyone. Just phone number, work status, etc.  

She did ask me if I was interested in furthering my education. They have some kind of set up with online universities where I assume they get a commission for signing people up.  I didn't get any additional details about it because I'm not interested in furthering my education unless the company I work for is willing to provide re-imbursement for it.

At that point, she said she had all of the information she needed and would send my info to the hiring company.  So at this point I'm undecided on weather it's just a company trying to sign people up for continuing education under false pretenses, or if they're legit.  If I hear from the supposed company looking to fill a position then I guess it's legit.  If not, I'd say it's still undetermined. But they didn't ask any questions that could be potential for ID theft or anything like that.

Employment Select has a blog type website at employmentselect.wordpress.com but I couldn't find a ton of info on the company.

Will post again if I hear anything back about a job.

I just got a call from this number. They stated they were doing an employment verification check. I was put on hold and a lady came on. I could clearly hear a call center environment in the background. I kept pressing them for details on who the company was that they wanted to verify me for. I was told Windy City (Cities) Careers - which of course there is not a listing for. I only applied for one job that was listed with a confidential company. Never again! Scam all the way. I was asked to verify some standard contact information including phone numbers and address, and asked the educational question as well. RUN DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS ONE.
