I'm in Portland, Oregon and got the call a couple minutes ago. called back and got a "disconnected" automated message....weird

Called my cell phone.  Didn't answer.  I'm in Chicago too.

Been getting a lot of these calls lately.

Called my cellphone about five minutes ago. I didn't answer either. I'm in St. Petersburg, Florida. I've had a few of these calls recently, but they've all been from a local number: 813-464-2366. I don't believe that they're connected.

In WA state called cell, no vm, called number back said disconnected

Got the call at 6:26. Austin, TX cell phone number.

I have received the call on several occasions but never answered. Garbled message left on several occasions in both english and spanish. One stating something about renewing warranty on vehicle.

Returned the call tonight to see what company it was that was calling, and got an operator stating that "the number that I have reached has been disconnected or is no longer in service." That was fast.

was called ~7:30 p.m. PDT on 6/26, left no message

I got a call from the same number. 2319958899.

I have no idea what language they spoke.  didn't sound like spanish/english/tagalog/russian/chinese/japanese/italian/french/ or southern USA.

I just had a call from this number: 231 995 8899, there is a message in Spanish that says you just won a prize and you must press #1 to receive it. Sounds like scam to me !! I just wonder how they get these phone numbers to call us. Mine is a company cell.

receved call today, did not anser it. they did not leave any voice mail. 239-995-8899

i found out that the number is listed in Traverse City,MI. there hitting Oregon now

i got a call at 6:12PM from this number...i tried callin it back 231-995-8899 and  on 6/26/08 and no one answered in fact..it was disconnected im pretty sure...a non working number. ALSO...they called my brothers number at 6:11 on 6/26/08 and he answered and some spanish speaking woman was talking to him...he was confused and hung up.

i also live in oregon so ya...they're hitting oregon now.

same thing i live in california got a call from this number i didnt answer but called back a couple secs later

How many of you went to an obama speech or texted that 62262 number they had you text? Obama supporters pushed this phone thing in order from austin to new york and then portland at the obama rally there. I wonder if someone jacked the phone numbers from that. I wonder if it will continue following this course

I havent figured out the pattern (as in where they got these numbers from, why the connections to a handful of cities? ) but the number is listed as an Americtech number, but one that doesn't exist (no service when you call back). Someone has taken over or created an illegal number through Ameritech (AT&T subsidiary). The calls could be made from any phone, or more likely computer, and fed out under the number (231-995-8899) indefinitely with no costs or regulations. Whole server networks could be making thousands and thousands of calls from the same 'number' simultaneously. It's a huge security weakness in all of our computer based systems that exist now, even the federal governments systems. I'm sure they'll shut it down pretty quick if they haven't already. Let's just be glad it wasn't a more serious network like the power grid, that could have caused serious damage.

Got a call from this number last night at 820pm. No message, and they called my cell. Im in florida

Called my cell# a few minutes ago. Did not answer, left no message, number disconnected when I called back. I have Sprint in Chicago. I've been to no Obama rallies nor have I texted anything to Obama or any of his supporters.

This is a VoIP phishing (or vishing) scam. The calls are computer generated. DO NOT ANSWER THESE CALLS. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD OR BANKING INFO.
