Another call hang up at 920 am PST Saturday, Nov 10.  It is rude to hang up when answering machines come on, especially when many people can not get to their phones that quickly.  It wastes our time.  Calls need to stop.  Boys in Washington need to pass a bill:  no robo calls for any purpose at any time to any home.  Oh ... what a dream!

If I was cold calling you and then just hanging up when you answered then I would be deserving of that but you are invading my home even after being told to stop calling. YOU SIR ARE THE ONE OUT OF LINE!!!!

I JUST got off the phone with these guys as I was reading the comments about who they were (they called a couple hours ago too) and a polite gentleman named Xavier was conducting a survey about healthcare in my area. I requested to be put on their no call list and hopefully it is done.

I used to work as an interviewer. I can certainly sympathize with those who don't want to be bothered. As employees, we did not choose who we call and how often, those decisions were well out of our hands. Believe me, those who are employed with this company are not there because they love the work. Those of you with the comment, "Get a real job!" should take a peek at what few, pathetic jobs are actually available for Western Kentucky before you judge. This is a job people take until they can find another one, although a few do end up staying. The employees are expected to be available for work that is often cancelled, available for a day's work and only allowed a couple of hours, or maybe show up for work and be told their services are not required that day. Nearly everyone is classified as part-time. I can certainly understand the frustration, but blowing whistles and screaming into the phone won't solve anything. You're only punishing people who are not calling you because they want to harass you, you're punishing people who live in an area with few jobs and are doing what they have to do to get by until they can find something better. This isn't a "whine," it's a fact. Look at the jobs section on craigslist if you don't believe me.

I've been getting calls from this number for months, I never answered as it called my Skype number and my mic isn't usually plugged in, but it always interrupted what I was doing on the computer, so it irritated me. Today I answered and was a bit rude about asking them to take me off their calling list so if whoever I was rude to sees this, I just wanted to say I was sorry (but please don't call again)!  :-)

Whether you are "on the clock" or not, by identifying yourself as an employee of TBRG, readers of this forum WILL associate your remarks with your employer. I noticed, in your post, that your grammar skills are not as good as you may imagine. You made a number of spelling and punctuation mistakes. You also used dashes unnecessarily several times, as in "inconveniences them to take 10 minutes out of their "oh-so-busy-tv-watching"   to tell them that". As for "their "oh-so-busy-tv-watching", you may be surprised, although I doubt it, to know that a good many of the people you call are elderly or disabled and may not be able to get to their phone in the short time allotted. The courteous thing to do is to let the phone ring more than four times. Four rings constitute approximately twenty-four seconds which is not much time for the elderly and/or infirm to get to their phones. Your explanation as to why you hang up, "The only time when people 'call and hang up' it is not a.) the system breaks", etc was contradictory and grammatically incorrect. If the only time people call and hang up is not for the reasons you gave, what is it? I could go on and am tempted to do so, but I do believe I've wasted enough time trying to educate one who obviously thinks he knows it all.

    Yours Truly,

    An English Major

Denigrating a person simply because they, obviously, did not have the sort of education you seem to think you had is something that I would call "ignorant" and rude.

Whoever you are, do me the courtesy of leaving a message. I refuse to leave my grandson on a table waiting for me to change his diaper. If I am in the middle of mopping a floor or folding clothes or any other house hold work, I am not going to drop everything to answer the phone. If I am elbow deep in making bread, I am not going to answer the phone. If your call is important, then leave a message! I have no intention of running to the phone to see who it is. My sister and my mom is courteous enough to leave a message, why can't you?

I work for Thoroughbred, and we simply do surveys and at no point try to telemarket/solicit products. Because we don't sell anything, we are exempt from the national "Do Not Call" laws. Our computers randomize numbers by taking the area code, telephone exchange, and randomizes the end four digit number. This is why we can call if you're unlisted or on the "Do Not Call," which we are more than happy to explain. To stop calling, we have to verify your number and have it removed from our servers. If you do not want to be called by us, *politely* ask to remove your number from our server. We are required to tell you that we do not have a "Do Not Call" list, we are exempt from the national laws, but we are more than happy to remove your number. If you've told that to someone from our company once before, that interviewer did not do what they were supposed to and have been confronted about it. We will be more than happy to call you back at a better time as well.

Also, we are not allowed to leave messages on answering machines. And the number we call from cannot be called because it's on an automated dialer. So, sadly, you have to wait for us to call you :/ Sorry!

Companies who hire companies like thoroughbred choose out of are locations to prevent biased. Basically, they want the interviewers to be uneducated about what we're calling about to prevent messing up the survey. Which explains why someone in Kentucky is as far as New York of Nevada.

All I want from you people is to STOP BOTHERING ME!! Received 2 calls from your company within a span of 5 minutes.  I told the first caller to take me off your list and was told you are not subject to the Do Not Call Law.  That is not what I said, I stated "Take me off your list".   I am not interested in anything Thoroughbred Research is offering.  This is harrassment and if it continues, I WILL report your company to the Better Business Bureau

I have to agree with this post to some degree.  I was a phone solocitor years ago and all I wanted was people to treat me with respect.  I did have a real job - I was being paid to try and sell a product via the phone.  If anyone wanted off the phone list, we removed them.

They keep harassing me and they are causing me health issues.  Maybe its time for legal action.  They say they are above the law because they are not soliciting.  I think they may be wrong.  My health, time and opinions are of value and they are soliciting these without compensation to me.   I say $1000.00 a call will cover my fees!!

I am going to file a complaint against Thoroughbred Research Group with the FCC and see what happens.  If it is like the Do Not Call List nothing will happen but it might make me feel better.  In the past 3 days I have received 7 calls, nobody on the line and I am sick of this.  They are calling my business line.  When will this STOP!  This may force me to change phone numbers but it will only be a matter of time before it all starts again.

Not this call. The number they called is not published nor is it known to me. It's a land line # that came with a cablevision bundle. I have a phone hooked up to it in case I need it but I haven't used it and do not know the #. The last time I saw the # was when I put it on the Do Not Call list over a year ago.
