- MARITo all of you out there that get a call from Tony Leyva. He is very rude and pushy asking for the owner of the company. Do not listen to him, do not pass the call thru. This is a sales call. This man will keep insisting and tell you that he does not have any more time to stay on the phone. What for him!!!!
- RhondaHave been receiving calls from this company for the last 3 months. I have asked repeatedly that they not call back. Each call the person "Alex" is rude. Yesterday I called the company and spoke to a Mr. Smith, told him what has been happening and ask again that they not call us. I'm not going to hold my breath!
- krisLOL! These guys are a JOKE! Yep, they are rude and offensive as can be, yet are calling to try and secure business. Good luck! The guy I have call all the time isn't even listening, therefore doesn't make sense half the time. Same MO, calls and asks for the CEO by first name - WTH?! Asks for VM, but doesn't leave a message. My favorite is when I said "he (the CEO) is in but is in a conference", his reply was "well get him out for me!" LMBO! This cokehead thought he could get anywhere with someone after pulling them out of a meeting?! LMBO!!!! Get some CUTH & CLASS JACKA$$!
- Not A SecretaryUmm. Banker (1.30.09). Did you ever stop to think that it is possible that a small business with a multi-million dollar profit has various people answering the phones because it is... A SMALL BUSINESS? It's called teamwork! By the way, I cannot believe you are comparing the current situation in the housing market brought on largely by people not reading contracts to some cold caller being rude to secretaries.
- DeeannA gentleman called asking for the owner of our company by first name, I told him that he was not in the office and refused voice mail or to leave a message, then hung up. I wish they would stop calling!
- Caller: Richard Houlihan, Andrew Smith, Houlihan
- DebraI received a call today asking for me, the owner. I pretended to be my assistant and offered to take a message. They demanded to know when the owner would be in. I replied that she was "in and out" and went on to try to explain that the only way they'd get a call back was if they left a message but halfway thru they hung up on me too!
- Caller: Unknown, assume Houlihan
- Not as stupid as Mr. Banker thinksHey Mr. Banker - you all get a bad name because of people like this. You would think that you would want this people to stop being rude and treat us possible customers with respect. Maybe you should go back to your training classes. I wonder how much business you have. Sounds like you are a rude a%$ too!
These people seem to call one minute before we close thinking that the CEO will answer the phone. WRONG! If you are not respectful to the secretary when you call - what makes you think the CEO will talk to you. Besides that -your name is now all over the internet as a scam and you should stop calling.- Caller: Same
- RECEPTIONISTThey call here all the time and ask for the old CEO. I tell him he is no longer with the company, so they as for the current CEO....I just say okay and let them sit on the line on purpose until they get tired of holding. They just get that the CEO is NOT interested....So, since they want to keep harrassing, I just let them sit there and wait lol. I have plenty of lines, I can spare one just for annoying people, lol!!
- receptionistOne more thing, I saw everyone should do the same as they do! Talk back, curse, be unproffessional back to them...its a great stress realiver if you ask me lol. let htem hold on the line FOREVER! They are never going to stop calling so might as well make the best of it =P
- tran nguyenGot a call from these jokers (hulahan smith or whatever) 312-499-4900 and they said I was interested in raising capitol for my business. I told them I am liquid and have more than enough capitol to finance my contracts. Then they said I must be interested in selling my business. I said no - the best thing for me to do is run my business and make money.
They are cold calling from the dunn and bradstreet database of small business owners. D&B makes a ton of money selling names and contact info on their listees.
This number has shown up on my phone switch so many times now I put a custom route into the switch for it - straight to my telemarketer voicemail jail.- Caller: hulahan and smith
- Logan| 1 replyIf they are such a rip off, why hasnt FINRA or the SEC shut them down or why havent the been sued. I'll tell you why. Yeah my assistant Judy got a call, more than a few, after Houlihan called 5 to 6 times... Finally I said put them through... I had a conversation with this guy who sounded like a wet noodle, he admitted he was just an intern. I was trying to secure 5m for expansion. They gave me one of those pretty little folders, after I gave them +50k... In the end I got the money, it did take a little longer than I had expected but I got it, and since the only other avenue I had to get the money was friends and relatives (a route I did not want to take) I was more than pleased. In the end I've created 38 full time jobs. Revenues have increased by 115%. They do cold call, they can be annoying, but they do get business done (and might just save your job in this "rough economy".) And because of them my uncle was able to sell his company and all employees were able to keep their jobs.
Judy let me know about this and another web site like it, and I cant believe the wrap these guys get. Go to the website houlihansmith.com, and see look at the transactions that have been completed. Do the research on how highly regulated and examined I-Banks are by FINRA and the SEC... Could they be a scam... Absolutley Not!!!
THANKS JUDY...- Caller: Houlihan Smith
- CheriI don't care if they are a scam or not but STOP CALLING AND BEING RUDE!! It's just not necessary! As an EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT, it's my job to screen calls! Maybe if these jerks were a little more pleasant and left a message, the person they were calling just might call them back!! Hey "banker 30 Jan 2009" leave me your number, I'll call you and give you my address and you can call me STUPID to my face!!!
- Business Owner| 1 replyHow come the only positive postings about this company sound like they were written by the company itself (and completely made up)? If you guys are going to try to polish your image change the way you do business, your poor writing skills aren't going to do it.
I often answer the phone myself but pretend to be a low level employee who doesn't know anything. These people are RUDE! I would never treat my customers that way (probably why I don't need their supposed funding). I also don't treat my employees that and don't expect them to take crap from some telemarketer. I would never do business with a company that starts out by lying and insulting you or your employees. I just can't imagine why anyone does, but it must work or they wouldn't keep doing it. My advice is hang up or just sent the calls straight to voicemail hell without answering them. If you don't know what this is just make a mailbox on your VM system that has a VERY long message and then gets to the end and won't take messages (making a very small mailbox that only holds about one message works great for this).
And by the way, REAL banks call wanting my business all the time. Yes, they call, but they use real names, don't insult my employees and leave messages as to why they called and ask if they can make an appointment to come by show me what they can do to help us grow. Real banks aren't interested in firing all your employees and cashing you out, they are interested in helping you grow. If your bank isn't find a new one.- Caller: Houlihan Smith
- LindaI got a call Eric Martin from Hulihan Smith. A rude and nasty man that left this number.
They should try to be nicer - I can always tell they have no business here - no one acts that way to people they do business with.
Next time I'll transfer them to the local BBB- Caller: Hulihan Smith
- Mikejust got a message left for me from one of my staff who said that it Kevin Miller from Houlihan Smith called for me from 312-499-5900 and that I would know what it was regarding and to call him back.
Obviously, never heard of him. Checked the # out first.- Caller: Houlihan Smith
- Do Your HomeworkI was an employee at Houlihan Smith, currently I'm back in school working on my MBA. You are all more then welcomed to immediately dismiss everything I have say, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I applaud sites like this that allow individuals to post their interactions and issues with certain companies/telephone numbers, I personally consider it constructive criticism. My biggest issue is with the misinformation many of you have posted on this website and the potential effects it may have on companies/business owners that are in need of their services.
To the receptionists/assistants/admins that I may have personally offended, I sincerely appologize and that was not my intent (for the record I never cussed out anyone, not only is it unprofessional but it's also uncivilized).
Our current economic climate has created a terrible situation for the American small business owner, current data is showing that 1/3 of the small businesses that were in business Jan 1, 2009 will be closed Jan 1, 2010. Imagine that, 1/3 of the "screeners" I spoke with will not be working at their current place of employment next year.
Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy, not to mention the fruition of the, "American Dream." For those business owners that are "liquid" I congratulate you, not every company is in that fortunate position. Given the current banking crisis, many banks are pulling credit lines to clean up their balance sheets. When a bank pulls your line what do you do? Where do you go? Maybe you try a few other banks, but then what?
Likewise, when you want to sell your company how do you go about doing that? Is it like selling a house or perhaps a car where you just put up a sign? How do you objectively assess the true value of a company without an objective 3rd party?
I'm sure you are all excellent at what you do and likewise, so are they. Feel free to reply, whether it's positive or negative.
Additionally I urge you all to do a little research before you make unfounded accusations, here are a few websites that might shed some light:

- ericA guy named Kevin Miller called from this number and was very rude and said "you must be looking to sell your company" I said "I must not" He said he never gets bad information and that our bank must have referred him to me because they think I could sell my business.
Very rude...- Caller: Houlihan Smith
- gooofygalAfter reading all these posts, I decided I am going to use another tactic...Instead of putting these people to voicemail or being as rude to them as they are to me, I will politely tell them to wait while I connect them to the CEO and I will keep them on hold! Eventually they will hang up AND I will have the satisfaction of knowing these rude people have lost the opportunity to bother as many people in a day. Just think if everyone does this...
- Caller: Houlihan Smith
- Executive AssisitantI got a call from "Rich" today, who asked for someone who doesn't even work in the office and is not the CEO. I asked what this was in reference to, and he told me it was a confidential matter and that the guy would know the company's name. Then he kept demanding this guy's phone number. When I refused to give it, he asked me (rudely) "What other information do you need?!" I asked him for a phone number to give to the guy, and he told me it was a personal and private line... which was a crock considering this number popped up on my caller ID. When I put him on hold, he hung up. There's no way I'm giving out information to someone who won;t tell me what his call is in reference to and especially one who won;t give me his number for a call back. Do they think we're all stupid?

- M Chavez| 9 repliesI've received several calls from Kevin Miller, he asks for my boss by name, and informs me that he'll "know what it's in regards to". Doesn't leave a message, but left his number- sucker, now I'll just tell him to stop calling us.
