I spoke with the local sheriff's office. They suggested that, after the call is ended, to hang up. Then pick up the phone, and key in *57. This will capture the record. Note the time, and promptly call the sheriff back, and explain. This should only be done after the second call. It is a crime(?) under the classification of harassment.

A survey call is permissible under the DNC rules. A sales call isn't. But your dialog with him does establish a business relationship, and he can then call you back legally. Read the DNC regulations.

Depending on where you live, you should either call your state police, sheriff, city police, as appropriate.

My guess is that these calls are a form of "casing the place", to determine whether it is a good place to rob.  

It might be good if all the people on this thread would leave a clue as to the region where you live. In my case, it is in the Mid-Hudson valley, in NY.

I just received a call from a woman with broken English stating she was from General Electric.  Becasue this is a customer of my company, I listened.  After realizing it was unsolicited call stating I won a phone, I requested to be removed from her calling list.  She said she did not understand what I was talking about and hung up.  I live in Wisconsin.

Got a call, first one as far as I know, today.  Machine picked it up but no one left message.

Someone from this number has called me twice.  I got very aggressive with him today and told him not to call here again and he told me he was going to call me every day.  I  then told him that if he did, I was going to call my local police dept. and that I had his number on my caller ID and I just kept talking over him saying do not call here again and I hung up on him.  Since I am also on the Do Not Call list, I went to the website and reported the number.  Whether it will do any good or not, who knows.  We occasionally get the same type of calls from some Rhode Island number as well wanting to know if we have a security system.  What a scam!

Forgot to add that I am in upstate NY on the border of PA.

Received call from 352-352-0352.  I answered phone - no one was there.  A couple seconds later a deafening beep/horn sound went off.  Painful and extremely hard on your hearing.  Happend twice to me.

I never thought about them trying to do a trace on my number so I'm glad I read this - that would give some explanation as to why they take so long to say anything and also the weird noises that you hear when you answer.  I will not take this call again!

I receive a call from this number almost every day. It is a non native speaker who is trying to sell smoke alarms. Today I asked to be removed from their list and was told "F**k Off.  I will call you every day."

Just received a call from 352-352-0352 and the person woman spoke perfect English... after a hello they hung up. I have call block on my phone but I doubt it will work. They are probably calling through a roundabout way from somewhere besides Florida.

got a call at 9:23 p.m. (EST).  Said something about survey, told them I was on DNC list and not to call back.  # has been calling 2-3 times a day with no messages left.  Heavy accented male on the other end of line.

I received the exact same call this evening.  I was convinced someone was stalking our neighborhood to determine who had home security systems and who did not, since my neighbor had called to tell me she had also gotten the call.  We are outside of Madison.  Are you anywhere near this area?

My wife received a call from this number yesterday. Today I got a call.  Neither of us answered because the number was very unusual.  We are on the do not call list.  How did they get our numbers?

I received day time call from 352-352-0352, Man on the phone (not native English speaker), says it is not a sales call and asks if i have smoke alarms in the house... I told him we do not do business over the phone and he said.. no.. he yelled.. "THEN WE WILL COME TO YOUR HOUSE! IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?!"  I hung up

Why can't we do anything about this?  It obviously is not just a survey.  Just received a call from 352-352-0352 and didn't pick up.  The caller breathed heavily on my answering machine for about a minute, then hung up.  I'm in the Pittsburgh area.

On 08/31/10, at about 2:20pm, Eastern Time, I received a call from 352-352-0352, according to my caller ID. A female, calling me, whom had extremely poor language skills with the English language, attempted to inform me that I had been selected to receive a G.E. Alarm System. I had to ask her 4 times what she was saying because of her terrible English skills which was extremely difficult to understand. I asked her what my name was and informed her that if I won this, she should have my name attached to the telephone number she called. She repeated my telephone number and I commended her but asked her again whom she was looking for at this number. Then, a male, with a bit better English skill, got on the phone and informed me that I had been selected to receive a G. E. Alarm System. I asked him where he got my number from...he said it was randomly selected and started his scripted message again. I stopped him, told him that my telephone number was very private, unlisted, never given out for a contest and that I didn't need a security system. I then informed him that my security system is extremely sophisticated and all security at my home was done by the Police and I then instructed him to never call my telephone number again or he would risk criminal charges from the police that handle the security at my home. I also informed him that the entire conversation from the time I answered the phone, including the location from where he called me from has now been officially logged with the Police and they will be investigating this telephone call for any criminal wrongdoing. I again told him to never call my number again and to remove it from any and all of his lists.
