So here's the deal directly from westjet's customer service team (I got pissed off and called them to complain):  This is a SCAM, this message is not from WestJet it is in fact a private individual who is using an auto-dialer and a phone book, if you press 1 to indicate you want the prize they will ask you to pay the taxes on the prize with a credit card number.  They will then use your credit card for what ever they choose to...

403-791-8642 called our direct line to my office.
this is a recorded message, however the recording is poor in that all it says is
"...you have been chosen to receive 100,000 new airmiles, press 1 to accept this offer..." then the phone cuts out if you do not press 1 immediatly.
a call back indicated the telephone number is not in service.
this is one of those marketing/collection agency type using a phoney telehphone number on the call display.
in case you did not know, there is a service that will plug in any telephone number and name, either a persons name or a company name for the call display, to attempt to have you answer the telephone

Of course they're not giving your number out to scam artists. Like they would give anything away like that for free. They did of course SELL your number to the scam artists. ;-)

Called my work land line, a number not given out frequently.  I did not answer.  No message.  Sick to death of this stuff.  It is exactly because of these things that I NEVER (literally) answer my phone(s).  I wait, check the message, and then call back if warranted.  Thanks telemarketers for ruining the invention of the telephone.

    scam
Just got a call from this number on my cell phone. Said I won 10,000 free air miles points. Called Air Miles directly myself. They are obviously receiving many calls regarding the same thing because their automated message states they never call customers with an automated message stating they have won points
THIS IS A SCAM ~ HANG UP!!!

DEFINITELY A BIG SCAM,BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN OR HAVE WON FREE AIR MILES,THEN THE AIR MILES COMPANY WILL AUTOMATICALLY CREDIT IT TO YOUR AIR MILES BALANCE ACCOUNT IF YOU OWN ONE..., BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY DO WHEN YOU HAVE (WON) OR EARNED EXTRA AIR MILES,AS I KNOW THIS FROM EXPERIENCE......IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH AIR MILES,THEN WHY WOULD ANY PERSON PHONE TO TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE WON AIR MILES?????????
GOT TO LAUGH WHEN THEY PHONED US ON APRIL 30,2012 FROM THIS BOGUS NUMBER ALSO --->1-250-665-8989 TO TELL US THAT WE HAVE WON  A LOT OF AIR MILES.  L.O.L.
I WISH ALL THOSE VULTURES WOULD GET A REAL JOB.
