My ex girlfriend received a call from a woman at this company. The phone number was 877-822-2677. The womens name was Michelle Perry @ x-2014. I was told that an arrest warrent was issued in my name and that if I didn't pay a bill for a bad check I'd never written I'd be picked up. This is a direct violation of FDCPA standards. Vandenberg Chase and Associates is a law frim who uses illegal tactics to pressure people into forking over cash. Hell if I wasn't awake to scams and things of that sort I'd be scared if someone said pay or go to jail. Your best bet is to do what I did and notify the FTC. Their number is 877-382-4357. The FTC needs a number of complaints in order to take action, so please make the contact. I am currently trying to find a mailing address for said company to send a cease and decist letter. I am having trouble doing so right now. Once I have I will post it. If they continue to call after that you have the power to sue. Stupid lawyers, figure they might now the law a little more than Joe Schmo American. Kinda always thought the process for such claims was to issue a lien against someone in court. A judge has to make the call on wether someone is arrested for a crime, not a lawyer!

I was also called by this company amd I was informed, not threatened, about a bill I misplaced two years ago. A lot was going on and I just simply forgot to pay it. Once they gave me all the information I needed to verify the bill, I gladly paid it. These people are legit and you shouldn't be blaming them for your mistakes. It is better to take care of it than be in denial and suffer consequences later. Take responsibility!!! If you honestly didn't write the check or whatever else it may be, then maybe someone has stolen your identity. It's good to know now so you can handle it before it's too late.

All they are doing is just trying to sell back your debt. They just bought from the person who originally had the transaction with. I would just pay it and get proof of it for records. They called me and I already dealt with something like this before because of a medical dispute. If you pay for it, it will just solve the issue.

Yeah, right Sara.  Do you work for Vandenberg, Chase & Associates?  Sounds like it.  In fact, I saw a similar post from you on another forum.  Here's contact information for Vandenberg, Chase & Associates LLC:

    887 W. Marietta St. NW, Suite J102
    Atlanta, GA  30318-5266

    Fax:  404-249-9599
    Tele: 404-249-1099

Send them a cease and desist either by fax or certified mail, return receipt requested and keep verification that they received it.  These sleaze balls can call you ONE MORE TIME after they receive the cease and desist to tell you that they may take legal action.  THAT'S IT--THEY CANNOT CALL YOU ANYMORE.  And don't lose sleep over their empty threat to sue.  They won't, they are just trying to intimidate people and that is illegal.  If they continue to call, record the phone calls for evidence.

I believe both T.M. and Sara are employees of Vandenburg, Chase & Associates.  Everyone send them the cease and desist letters and let them stew and not make any money off of you.  They are scum bags and I do not even let it get that far to let them tell me lies.  I hang up after telling them they have the wrong number.  Screw them and all that believes them.  By the way, their phone number was unlisted.  I had to call the losers to find out who they were.  If they were legit, their phone would not be unlisted!!!  They ARE NOT GETTING ONE DIME FROM ME!!!!!!!

I was called just a few moments ago for a job interview.  The lady I spoke to said that the interview could be scheduled for 5 pm on tomorrow or 12 noon on Thursday.  I chose Thursday hoping to research the company more and am now trying to figure out should I take the interview at all.  Some feedback, please.

This company is totally illegal. When I first started working there they told us to tell the debtors that they had a pending warrant. They also had us refer to ourselves and investigators under false aliases. They gave us a talk off that mentioned a summons being served by a local county sheriff through the magistrate court. We are normal collectors that work TAX FREE.....THE MANAGERS ARE ALL LIARS AND WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET PAID....I have a major class action suit against them myself. If these people call you, DO NOT PAY THEM SUE THEM FOR HARASSMENT.

I totally agree with you guys I was threatened as well, but then I joined Sterlla Corley’s Karate Academy and now I have self confidence, Perseverance, Determination, and a Positive Attitude. It can help me in defending myself from Collection Agencies and Phone Scammers! I pay only $70 a month; I think you all should join, I know I’m a new person now and I can never be threatened over the phone anymore. Thanks to Sterlla and my other sensei's!!

Recieved calls from this company a few months ago threatening me with a lawsuit if payment arrangments were no made in 30 days. I was quoted double the original debt and was told it was because it was 3 yrs old. Being dumb and scared, I gave them a debit card number to authorize payments of 100/wk which by no means could i afford. After the call, I got thinking something was fishy so I googled the number......well to my suprise I found pages of sites of complaints. I called the woman back and asked for written proof to be mailed to me regarding the debt and amount. She said I would recieve it in 7-10 business days. I did not get it, so thus I cancelled the debit card. I refuse to be ripped off and pay double of an original debt. When the date came to charge my card, she called me back and was harrassing me. I informed her the card was cancelled and I refused to make payments with their company and that I would pay ace directly. She said I couldn't do that because ace sold me debt to them. (What she didn't know is I had already contacted ace and was told I could make payments at any location in a minimum amount of $1.00) I told the woman about the research I had done and so she began to tell me how I couldn't buy a house and it was on my credit, blah, blah, blah......I told her I would make payments to ace when I could and that I had recorded our conversation....she quickly disconnected the call. Today, she called me again for the first time in a month using a different name. She kept telling me how she needed my bank account information and that if I didnt give it to her that suit would be filed against me. I said "Do whatever you have to do, I never recieved any written proof of debt amount, and I will never under any circumstances give you my bank account information!" I hung up on her so we will see what happens now. These people threatened to file lawsuit if payment wasn't recieved in 30 days.....its been 120 days since my first threat. These people are just calling people trying to scare the mess out of them and collect more than what you owe. (Example: 470 original and was told total was 997, that is 527 in collection profit) I used to work for a payday loan place and after the 2nd returned check they stop charging nsf fees to your account with them. Good luck everyone..........dont give them your money!!!!

I was contacted by a man who kept mixing up his aliases, Mr. Stathum, Mr. Riggs. Then after I told him my Attorney advised me to obtain certain information he woudln't give me info onmy own account, only  a dollar amount and the option to pay. I told him it was illegal to collect from someone who filed bankruptcy and he insisted I still needed to pay it, even if it was listed as a creditor. REDICULOUS. He said not paying it was fraud FOrgive me for struggling when my husband passed away. It doesnt matter what my circumstances, it is illegal that he is even calling me.
THEN I left a message asking them not to call my office and he said it was misdirected to someone elses voicemail and was lost even though the voice on the greeting was his. I was trying to get the info so my Attorney can send them my discharge letter again but he just wanted money! I was not about to waste my money having my her call him, especially deal with how awful he is- she is expensive and I much rather deal with it myself but he was rigid, not helpful and as far as I know he is Joe Shmoe trying to get my money!
So I called the original company I dealt with, sent them my discharge letter and saved the Attorneys fees, plus sent them a cease and desist pursuant to laws that protect individuals who have filed bankrruptcy but even if I hadnt filed bankrptcy my Attorney said their tactics were unlawful and that I already could sue since they called my work after I asked them not to, used false names, and refused to give me account info pertinent to my account. What idiots. I am a paralegal and work with Attorneys that woudl love to shred this idiot to pieces.

This lady called for my boyfriend saying there were alligations filed against him. I have no idea what she is referring to. She left a number a her name being Mrs. Brown. I have heard that name so many times from debt collectors. It just sounds fancy and quite frankly just like a hard a** name. I read everyones comments and if it what all of you say is true I am at a loss for what my boyfriend should do.

AHHH okay after reading thru these comments i think i FINALLY figured out who these guys are working for as i had a payday loan WAY BACK with ACE, but that was pretty much written off almost 2 1/2 years ago. I had made payment arrangements etc with them.
This guy named Mike Matzenberg keeps calling in a very threatening voice telling me to call them "this hour" as if..i work dude. Does the faxing of the cease and disist letter work? or should i just contact ACE?

We received a phone call from "Mr. Green" at extension 3028 from this company. They claimed they were a law office and threatened to garnish wages unless we handed over a checking account number immediately. I called them back and asked if it was a law office. They said no, they are a "business firm". I asked them to identify their lawyers. She said she would not do that unless I gave her my SSN. I asked if they were a collection agency and she said no. The address they gave me was:

    Vanderburg Chase Associates

I got a call from a Mr green this morning saying that I owe money for a loan i got from one of those check places. He said I have to give them at least half of the 4oo and something dollars I owed or they would garnish my wages. He said that the amount would triple if I did not pay today. I asked where could I send a money order and he said i cant it has to be form credit or debit account. I gave him no info but my name. Dont give them any info at all. Even if they are somewhat legit, the tactics they use are very unprofessional and maybe illegal.

The caller was abrupt, rude, and threatened to have me picked up at work by the police if I didn't pay them. They stopped short of saying they would have my legs broken. These guys are just debt collectors. A real attorney would send you legal documents, not harass you over the phone. Don't tell them anything.

my dad got a call from the same company but a different number (404-682-9404) and didn't ask for me they told him they were calling inreguards to possible check fraud in my name didn't say when or how they got his number but didn't have mine. but gave him a toll free number (1-877-822-2677 ext.4028) and said they were vandenberg chase and associates...when i called several times the man named barry nichols who was contacting my dad is never there but they wanted me to leave a message with my name number address birthday social security number...i am not as stupid as they think...but according to the law they can not say why the reason for calling for someone to anyone but the person they are calling for...they willingly told my dad everything without him asking what it was reguarding...which flagged them as fishy...so i recommend calling the fda as soon as you can.. to report them

I have been getting phone calls from a Ms. Comacho with this same company. The first time she called me she caught me off guard and had me so nervous, I gave her my debit card information. She said I owed $600 so I gave her authorization to debit $300. They have gotten the $300 from my account. Is there anything I can do to get that money back without involving an attorney? This was from a payday loan from 2006 and the original loan was for no more than $300. Now the lady is calling saying the transaction never cleared but it is clearly showing drafted from my bank account. What can I do?
