    Thanks Jessica. The lady left a message yesterday saying that if I don't call her and tell her when she can run the card through again for the other $300, she's going to have me served at work. Can they do this? Can they have my wages garnished?

    Don't Worry
    Val, no, they cannot do that. Their entire operation is a scam. If you research them on the Internet, you will find thousands of people reporting these phone calls and threats and NONE of them have ever actually had any of the threats followed through (including me -- they called me back in April). If you haven't already, you need to cancel your debit card and report this as fraud to your bank. Your bank should do an investigation for you -- if they don't offer, ask them to. They have better resources than you do to try and investigate. I'm really sorry they got $300 out of you -- but don't let them get anymore, okay? Good luck!

    I recently had a similar incident as well. I got a call from them from a Mr. Mason and a Ms. Mitchell was the on who got on the phone threatening to sue. My original debt was a little over 400 dollars and they were asking for 1311.  I asked for something in writing and was told they didn't send anything in the mail or give written notices since they contacted me over the phone. They threatened to sue and that i could go to jail because of it.  They are full of it. I contacted the FTC 18773824357.  FTC let me know that what the are doing is illegal. So PLEASE anybody that is having problems with the notify the FTC. Its a 5 minute call.

    I rec'd my 1st call from this company threating me, saying that a warrant had been issued for my arrest.  The lady then said that she could stop the warrant if I would agree to pay them the money.  I explain that I didn't have it at the time and that I did have every intention of paying.  She then kept on with her threat and I was so afraid, she wanted all kinds of pertinent info about me and I didn't know to do or what not to do, by this time I had let her intimidate me into going to WalMart purchasing a Visa card, not paying my house note or car note (needless to say I almost lost both).  Then I decided to look them up on line and found this site.  These guys are horrible the tactics they use are horrible and frightening.  After reading the info you guys have provided I still recieve calls as I have not seen a number to fax them to cease and desist.

    This woman name "CECILIA" called me a few months ago and said she is with VCA and need payment from an unpaid loan and if I did not pay a warrant will be issued and they will come to my job and get me. So at first I was worried, but I could not come up with the money.  I asked for a payment plan she wanted half of the loan up front through A DEBIT CARD OR SEND IT THROUGH A WIRE (money gram, western union or something.) If they really wanted their money she would have gave me an address so I could send a money order. No information was given to me. Today she called again I answered it with a friend next to me and left it on speaker I told her I needed to know if I did make payment where would my money be going. She said what do you mean. I notified her that I had looked the company up and she got HOT! She so so what do you mean you not going to pay us since you googled us. I told her I will get a lawyer because she threatned me again and she said that my file is on her desk with HOT on it. She brought up all that same script about the law suit and cops. I just hung up.

    They literally just took our a $200 withdrawal from my account today without my prior authorization.

    I have disputed it with my bank and left them a message detailing my complaint.

    This is wrong, not to mention illegal and I will be certain to get my money back.  I told my bank already and the charge is pending, they said to wait until it clears...you can bet you're ass I'm calling back first time it clears.  This is theft.

    Oh my gosh, my sister just called me about this company, just a few minutes ago. Everything that is posted on here is exactly right. My sister gave me the numbers they gave her, the reason for the call, which is illegal and threatened to have me arrested if I did not pay and have my sister arrested if I did not tell them where I could be contacted because my sister was "harbouring a criminal", so my sister got scared and told them I recently moved to Holland and will be here for 3 years. So now they are holding my sister responsible for a debtt that was paid over 2 years ago. Are they insane or what? Stupid company. I will definietly have to write a cease and desist letter. Thanks everyone for the info about them.

    These people need to be put out of business.  I came home late from work (9:30PM) to have a voice message on my answering machine from a Miss Adams with Vandenberg, Chase, and Assoc. The number was the 877 number given by MrChi in the April 25 message.  Her extension was 3030. She said I needed to give it my mandatory immediate attention and that they wanted to proceed outside quote 'normal proceedings' but that it involved incredulent activity and said there was a claim against me by the state of COLO.  Well...I started panicking, wondering what on earth could this involve.  I had been in a horrible car accident in New Mexico where a drunk driver hit me and totaled our vehicles and wondered if it had something to do with that.  But...how would that involve incredulent activity I said to myself? She even gave me the claim number.  Well...I am here to say that after doing a search on this so-called law firm and seeing all the crap I felt better.  They have no right to do this to people.  I am being mistaken for another person with a similar name who has a bad credit against them.  My credit rating is an 831 so my credit is impeccable.  How dare they call and do this to my sanity, wondering what in the world have I done.  INCREDULENT ACTIVITY...that is what they are doing by accusing innocent people of activity they did not do.  I am no longer scared and freaking out....I AM MAD.

    I just got a call from these people about an hour ago. A woman called, asked for my husband then me by name. I just packed my husband off to Iraq this morning and have spent all day waist deep in creditors who want to know when they'll be paid. So when this woman mumbled her name and company name and proceeded to tell me some chick I've never heard of applied for a loan using us as references. I snapped and she got it with both barrels. I doubt she'll call here again. It got me to thinking after she got mad at my not being willing to confirm any personal info and hung up, just who were these people. I called the number in my caller id back and got this name. They need to invest some of their funds in properly trained operators. The moron lost my call twice. That led me to believe they were some fly by night outfit instead of a legitimate company...a web search led me to here. You don't have to tell me that the criminals are getting smarter. All I can say is if anyone is trying to steal mine or my husbands credit, they aren't only criminals, they are incredibly stupid criminals. Combined we don't have the credit to finance a sidewalk lemonade stand. Idiots.

    A Mr.Thompson called from a new number (404) 671-9099 to my mother telling her i was about to be arrested for check fraud. All he did was leave the number and no further information. My mother was afraid for me and so was I at first. I called him back and tried to get information, let me tell u he was quite nasty and couldn't even give me the soo called check number. He said he had sent a court summons to my address and that this matter had to be taken care of immediately or go to jail. I sent for my bank records and i was not even writing checks during this time frame. I called him back and told him never to call myself or my mother again and that he was not getting a dime. I hope i did right, I am still a little afraid. He has even called my mother again and left a bogus name and new number that went straight to his voice mail. Also he said the check was written in 2004.

    received a phone call from Vandenburg & Associates. shady,shady people. Called and reported them to the FTC. also sending a certified letter as instructed to cease and desist phone calls. I aksed if a fax would work,I was told that it would not and the letter must be mailed via certified mail.
    Mr. Clark tried to threaten by saying he has been promoted to the warrant department~WHATEVER!! they are a joke.

    Also...DO NOT give your credit card information. I authorized one debit to pay more than half of the amount owed and now they keep trying to take money out without authorization, I am taking this all the way because I know for a fact, that they CANNOT provide proof of authorization of the second withdrawl.

    Credit Counselor in OKC
    Please, please, please, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission either by phone or at thier website, www.ftc.gov if you feel your rights have been violated so this company can get shut down. This company has repeatedly violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in the state of Oklahoma. I work as a credit counselor and several of our clients have paid for debts they did not owe due to the intimidation practices of this collection agency. (Payday loans & check loans can not be prosecuted for fraud in Okalahoma, your state laws may vary) Always require a 3rd party collector to validate the debt in writting before even aknowleging the debt. These are just a few of the items they have violated...

    If you have an attorney, the debt collector must contact the attorney, rather than you. If you do not have an attorney, a collector may contact other people, but only to find out where you live, what your phone number is, and where you work. Collectors usually are prohibited from contacting such third parties more than once. In most cases, the collector may not tell anyone other than you and your attorney that you owe money.

    Harassment... Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, debt collectors may not:

    use threats of violence or harm;
    publish a list of consumers who refuse to pay their debts (except to a credit bureau);
    use obscene or profane language; or repeatedly use the telephone to annoy someone.

    False statements.... Debt collectors may not use any false or misleading statements when collecting a debt. For example, debt collectors may not:

    falsely imply that they are attorneys or government representatives;
    falsely imply that you have committed a crime;
    falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit bureau;
    misrepresent the amount of your debt;
    indicate that papers being sent to you are legal forms when they are not; or
    indicate that papers being sent to you are not legal forms when they are.
    Debt collectors also may not state that:
    you will be arrested if you do not pay your debt;
    they will seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages, unless the collection agency or creditor intends to do so, and it is legal to do so; or
    actions, such as a lawsuit, will be taken against you, when such action legally may not be taken, or when they do not intend to take such action.
    Debt collectors may not:
    give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit bureau;
    send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency when it is not; or
    use a false name.

    Unfair practices... Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, collectors may not:

    collect any amount greater than your debt, unless your state law permits such a charge;
    deposit a post-dated check prematurely;
    use deception to make you accept collect calls or pay for telegrams;
    take or threaten to take your property unless this can be done legally; or
    contact you by postcard.

    If you are ever in doubt about how to handle a collection call, contact your local non profit credit counseling agency. To find the office nearest you go to the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at www.nfcc.org

    Just an additional note to be clear...Check loans can not be prosecuted through the criminal courts in Oklahoma, but you can still get sued for the debt if they can prove it is you debt in court. If you owe it, pay it...but always get the debt validated in writting first.

    I entered into an oral agreement with one of their reps to pay off the balance of my account from a payday loan company. I would pay $75/month for 3 months. After the final payment was taken from my account, they called me sayng that I owe an additional $354.00. I told the person that was not the agreement. They denied that anyone in their office made that agreement w/ me, but they still can't explane why the auto debit was only set up for 3 months and they also can't find the audio recording of the agreement anywhere.

    DONT GIVE THESE PEOPLE A PENNY!!!!!!!

    Try to settle the debt through the original company (ACE, Check Into Cash, etc). They will gladly take your payments.
