- Jorj replies to tmwExcellent!
- Jay replies to no debtYou can sue them for harassment and collect for emotional distress...
Court record are clear that this kind of contact is against the law and
abusive by nature.
I recommend you just not answer any caller you do not know. - Teddy replies to tmw| 1 replyIf you owed student debt to the federal government, your social security CAN be garnished.
Many have bought the promise of economic success via higher education only to discover the black
hole of debt. and joblessness after graduation.
A terrible fraud is hoisted upon the US middle class while Congress continues to vote itself immune from prosecution for fraud and contract breach. - JorjA class of all persons (US citizens) who experience joblessness after obtaining college degrees should be pressed against the US Government and US corporations in a class action suit.
No one has a right to work or to conduct business in the US. It is a privilege granted by the voter in the form of a business license. When an agreement is breached in the form of outsourced jobs to foreign nations for sake of profits, fraud has been done. The US electorate should sue big business for failing to keep its end of the tacit agreement to provide employment to US citizens in exchange for the welcome to do business in the US.
Damages of all/any kind should be pursued and there should be a formal review by a jury made up of US voters. Right to Work states and Fire at Will and US Labor Unions are squeezing the worker to death. Where are the advocates of the people? - Not LOLThese scumbags call a few times a day......I don't have any outstanding debt, maybe they have my name mixed up with someone else. I never answer the phone they have called me for months in the morning before 9AM and in the evening 8PM.

- henry 9thMost phones now have a recorder , so just record a minute of silence and make it your default ringer. Then go through your phone list and give everone that you want to answer a nice loud "personal" ringtone. This way , all incoming calls will be devided into known ringing and unknown silent.

- milkshake1I receive numerous calls on my cell phone and refuse to answer.
- ChrisJust got a call from some person claiming I owed $2,300 on a credit card from 1996....interesting b/c I would not have been able to legally apply for a credit card at that age.
- Caller: unknown
- Call type: Debt collector
- AnonymI've been receiving calls on my cell! How the hell did they get my number! Don't owe anybody anything! i just keep rejecting in hopes they will some day stop calling me. I registered with the Do Not Call site and this didn't help me at all.

- NoelleMy 24 year old son keeps getting calls from this number. He paid off his credit card 2 years ago, has no outstanding medical bills, and has never had a car loan, home loan, or student loan.
However, when he was a young teen visiting a friend, the kid's step mother went through his wallet and used his identity to secure at least one loan or credit card with a man impersonating my son as her co-signer. My son used to receive many collection calls due to that ID theft but we thought we cleared it up back 2008 or 2009.
I wonder if she's used his ID again, or if this is more of her delinquent debts from years ago. I guess we're going to have to contact the credit agencies for a report to see what the heck this is all about. - NoelleI just did a search on "portfolio recovery" and it brings up a whole bunch of information about this being a SCAM collection agency and they are not legitimate. No wonder so many of us who have no outstanding debt are being harassed by this company!
- STOP CALLING MEI am glad this number was here. I have been getting calls 2-3 times a day from Portfolio recovery. I moved and no longer have a LAN line, I also charged jobs, so they only number they have is my cell. They called me on it today. I am blocked so I am not sure how they got it, I will have to check with AT&T.
Theyare trying to collect on a sears deby I settled YEARS ago and the only time I spoke with someone there to explain, she bascially said she did not care if I paid or not and they would call and call until I paid.
This has got to be illegal- Caller: Portfolio Recovery

- Phone replies to tmwHey "tmw",
I also am retired, on SSI and I have paid all my debts as I know. I refuse to answer these calls, but want to know if there is any way other than ignoring them to make them stop? But how did they get my cell number anyway?
Thanks! - CharlotteThe number 404-921-2521 calls me everyday. On my cell phone, I have LIMITED minutes and I am on the DO NOT CALL list!

- AMR replies to tmwThank you sir for letting us see how you dealt with them. I have been dealing with this company for a while now. They want money from a debt that was settled eight years ago with the original creditor. So far they haven't gotten a thing from me but they persist. Thank you for telling how you've handled them also.
- Robert Roehm| 1 replyJust got a call from them on my MagicJack. I wonder how can I set up MagicJack to auto-ignore these collection agency callers?
I have a lot of debt, but I know I can pay them off slowly. I cannot file bankruptcy because doingso will disrupt payments to a storage space of personal collections of 1980's computer and video game items that I want to continue to keep. Bankruptcy would stop the space paym, ent and it will wind up on the auction block to an unknown buyer, which would make it nearly impossible to buy them back.
I am planning to pay them off in the future out of my tax refund and annual bonus. I just don't need someone shouting at me or calling me so often. I will pay it when I can pay.- Call type: Debt collector
- whitetiger58 replies to tmwI would really like to talk to you some more.
- PatjoI have turned these people in to the FCC-Portfolio Recovery Ass. They keep calling from different numbers. I do NOT have any debt beyond a small credit card balance. I don't know where or how they got my number. They call any day from 8 am-9pm. I guess I will turn them in to the FTC and to BBB as well. I have no idea what debt they think they have. I have never defaulted on any debt except a car forty years ago.
