- AnnAt 65 if you only applied for part A medicare they pressure you to get part B also. Then you get a bill for the previous month and the next two months. They say the amount of 104 will be taken out of your retirement check. But you are billed directly for hundreds of dollars all at once each quarter. i have other insurance so I only wanted part A which is free. I went to the local SSA office and told them I did not want part B in the first place. My application was for part A only. The high pressure sales tactics convinced me to get part B which I did not need because I have other insurance. I cancelled Part B at the local SSA office and was told I still had to pay hundreds of dollars which I was billed for in advance. They claimed the billing is done quarterly. I suspect a lot of lying going on in that office to squeeze every dollar out of retirees pension checks while the real abusers of the system get away with millions and millions of dollars. The doctors and hospitals who over bill medicare and charge the government for services and procedures not even performed.
- Caller: Social Security
- legalhoundThis number really does belong to the SSA Disability Division. They called for my husband, just checking to make sure that he got the forms they sent and to see if he had any questions or concerns. The woman provided her name, 1-800# and her 5 digit extension for him to call if he had any problems.
- Caller: Social Security Administration
- Rebecca JI got a call from this number shortly after I applied for Medicare on-line. She knew I had not applied for benefits and tried to quote me a price. I have a call in to Social Security now. She asked for my DOB and SS# which I gave her. When she asked for my bank routing info I got suspicious.
- Caller: Social Security Admin.
- AngryUm, I work for the agency & got a call from this # at 7 am. I work over night. I wonder if it's an old # someone got a hold to cause trouble.
- PuzzledI got a call from 410-965-1234, asking me about my S.S. and other information. I called back and left a message with my phone number. No one called me back. Possibly, it is a scam.
- Caller: S.S. Administration
- Call type: Prank
- JohnCalled here as well, twice in a row. I did not answer. When I called back, I got a recording claiming to be the headquarters of the Social Security Administration. That it is headquarters calling from MD is highly doubtful, but what makes me even more suspicious is that they are calling on my cell phone, and as far as I know, Social Security only has my land line.
- Caller: Scam, maybe IRS
- white man replies to Trudithanks obama!

A guy identifying himself as Sean/Shawn Malvin calls saying that we've been emailing regarding funding for my business. He was speaking VERY low almost as if he was in an office and trying to be discreet. I asked him to speak up & he said "I can't right now, I'll call you back" I responded sayin "NO, NO THANKS". This is obviously a scam by rank amateurs no less.
*The # does indeed trace back to the U.S. Social Sec. Admin. BUT GOOGLE ALSO SHOWS UP - a bogus shell company DBA Federal Protection Services Day in a seedy part of Baltimore, MD
(410)925-1234 - Janet Gemignani replies to WorkerGot a message on answering machine that Mrs. Whitacker from Social Security was calling my husband because he applied for Medicare and did he know he was eligible for Social Security. This number was on caller ID and US Goverment. A different number was left by Mrs Whitacker. My husband returned call and was left on hold for an hour. He called toll-free number for Social Security and was told that the IRS issued a bulletin a couple of years ago not to give information to callers from 401 area code. It's a scam.
- anonymousSeems these Scumbags Scammers have been trying scams since 2009.
- Caller: SSA Imposters
- JacqueThey called me on 2/27/15. I do have case pending, so thought nothing of it. Letter to arrive in 5 days. I called SSA and they have no record of a letter. I put freezes on my credit. Who do you report this to? Everyone says it's a scam. I did give part of ss#. I'm concerned. They had my info. Suggestions...Please! Thanks!
- Caller: SSA
- ScottCaller ID said "US government". When I answered a person said they were from Social Security, and asked me to answer some questions. Suspicious it might be a phishing scam, I told the caller that I could not verify who they were and would not answer any personal questions. The caller said they would send me a questionnaire in snail mail. When I feel very insecure giving out my personal information, especially to a cold call. I suspect now the call was legitimate. But it's hard to know for sure because supposedly it is easy to spoof caller ID.
5-18-15- Caller: supposedly, Social Security

- The Old ManThe number 410-965-1234 is actually from the Social Service Administration in Maryland. I had been expecting a call since I recently registered on-line for my S.S. payments.
When I received a call from 410-965-1234, I challenged them to provide me my social security number, address, my wife's name and date I was married, before I would answer any questions. They politely provided me with the correct information, then asked me if I intended to work for the rest of the year.- Caller: Social Security Administration
- Heidi replies to TrudiIt's fake! Governments "do not" call over the phone ! They should send you a letter in the mail. DON'T GET CAUGHT INTO THE TRAP!
- Tammy StephensMy spouse is legally blind and was recently approved for SSA benefits. Early this morning I had a missed call from this number. It was during church hours. I tried calling it back and there is an automated message stating it's social security and that I need to call back during business hours. Something just doesn't feel right about getting a Sunday morning call from SSA. My voicemail was full so even if the caller wanted to leave a message they could not have. Now I have to wait until the morning to get a hold of someone legit.
