This number is legit.  It is Social Security.  I received a call from this number but wasn't able to answer it.  The lady left me a message and when I called her back she was very helpful.  She called to go over some questions on my online application for Social Security.  She couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

Got a call from 410-965-1234 at 2:15 pm saying they were from social security.

The IRS will not call you. They will send a certified letter. The Social Security Admin. will not ask for your SS number because they already have it. I am tired of this place calling me and asking questions they should already know.

I get these calls from different numbers, no voice mail left. I dialed back to see what it was and it says social security administration and wants the first five of your ssn. I called my local social security office to ask if this was legit and was told that if there was no name or number left on voicemail, do not call back. It's most likely a scam!

First Call - didn't recognize it, declined.
They immediately called back - answered, listened, but didn't respond.
They immediately called back, again - answered, said "Hello?".  Caller stated "I'm sorry, I may have the wrong number.  Can I speak to Alexa?"  "There's no Alexa here".  Confirmed the number she dialed, stated someone must have written it down wrong, hung up.

You’re exactly right.  Government agencies don’t call late at night or on weekends.  The SSA and IRS never conduct serious business by phone.

I received call from this number I think it's a fraud

This call came in over a relay saying the caller was hearing impaired. They asked what wages I was expecting to make for the following year, I replied none, and they hung up.

Got a call from this number. Obvious scam call even though the number traces to the SS administration. Was asked to return the call back on a different number. The called threatened to charge me with fraud if I didn't call back. Nice try, scammers, you must think I'm an idiot.

the us goverment  called on monday telling me they will call me back at one this was a male. last week it was linda saying she was from the general of social security with 425-341-9214 saying  the next was fayvettevile nc with the number 910- 493 3150 saying someone is using my soc security number if i don't call back they will suspend my number. I called the soc security immediately they say it scam we send letter and tell you to come in ignore all calls . I just want to know are they only doing this to landline people it hard to change landlines these days. ps. fayvetteville nc said the were law enforcement i wen to the police station they only said donot call back.

It's not SSA.  It's a scam.  SSA will never call after hours.  SSA will never ask for the info these people ask for.  Don't be fooled.  If they need to contact you, they will do it through their portal on-line or the U.S. Postal Service.

I not only doubted the call but the SSA office near me told me it was a scam call.  The caller wanted my bank info.  The SSA office confirmed with me in person that they had my info and it was current and correct.  I say if you are in doubt go straight to the source.  Go to your local office.

Call me twice , 1st call I did answer but did not anser the second callfew minutes after the 1st call. I am from Canada.....

Received 2 calls this a.m. 9/21/23, Didnt answer either, second call left message Saying I am Russell from Social Security and to call 800# 5 digit ext regarding my application. I have not returned call because I have already received my card from S.S. and my first check. Seems odd and wondering if a scam.
