Please contact the foodscam email listed here.  Ron Atkinson Gaal and Andrew Gaal have been using Shopco order forms and informing people that they are part of the Shopco family when in fact they are not.  Shopco was the victim of a multi million dollar scam by Ron and Andrew (who are the stepsons of Norman Gaal).  Norman wants to see all orders that are supposedly from Shopco and attempt to make things right for the customers.  Ron and Andrew cleaned out the warehouse, took the paperwork for about 1500 customers , checks and cash.  The first thing to determine is who you really did order from and who actually cashed the checks.  If it turns out that it was indeed Shopco and not Ron and Andrew pretending to be Shopco, then Norman will make it right.  First we will need to see your paperwork and copies of cancelled checks to determine who exactly ripped you off.

As it has been repeatedly proven in court Norm Gaal is an adulterer and a liar and tries to blame his failures and illegal acts on his former family. Perhaps Norm should concentrate on running a company so he can pay all his debts and stop bouncing pay cheques to hard working people. It is very sad that this old man has nothing but lies and gossip to fill his days. With the warm weather approaching, he'll be able to spend more time on his yachts in Orillia driving up there in his Rolls Royce, convertible Thunder Bird or his classic 1955 Buick. Oh to be so hard done by....

I did my business with Beefeater/Shopco, John Melnick was my sales person. I have called and spoke to Kim and Louise Gaal and they blame it on John Melnick and later the promised to pay. I have put a stop payment on all my cheques.

Did you ever get the second half of your order?  I have been calling trying to make arrangements and am extremely frustrated!!

Thanks for the phone number - too bad there isn't anyone there to answer it.  I have made dozens of calls over the past several months (during business hours) and all I get is a voice mail message.

Your company received an "F" rating by the Better Business Bureau for good reason.
Anyone thinking of doing business with Shopco Foods and is doing their homework by visiting this site, I have just one word of advice - RUN !

Your company owes me money - this is without question.  Your daughter Louise has been giving me the run-around for months and frankly I'm pissed-off at the total lack of consideration in this matter.  Just because you have been arounfd for 45 years, it doesn't mean that you will still be around in 2012.

Still to get my money back. Anyone had any luck receiving there money back when they went through Ministry of Consumer Services?

I have been dealing with these guys for three or four years now.  I think some of you are mistaking these people for the Step father Norm whom they refuse to deal with now as he was the one embezzling money out of Shopco. I heard that straight from their former book keeper Ed Stravinkas. Anyway who cares? The Grocery Group is great! Don’t change a thing and thanks for the excellent service.

Dealt with them for 1 year or so, meats are top notch but maybe the convenience is just as good.Will be ordering again.

I dealt with  the grocery group for a large order. The meats are legendary. For the meats I am getting the service again.

my sister recommended the service after she told me about the bbqs she did with the steaks from the grocery group  if you like bbqs, consider the delivery of groceries from the grocery group.

How can anyone trust anything they read online from people that they do not know? This whole comments website looks pretty amateur like some high school project...

This company is a joke!!! I worked for them for a few years under shopco and canadian fine foods. There crooks I tell you!!! I had to take them to court myself for unpaid wages when they fired me without warning because I refused to be treated like trash. I watched these people belittle the very people who made consistant efforts to make the company successful and the day they started yelling at me I got back up in there face and that's when they fired me. Long story short I got my money and successfully reported them to the CRA for unpaid taxes which they took from us but never paid the government!! [***]!!! Stay far away!

Now I have a problem! We were lucky enough and we didn't lose a lot of money. Only first payment. I realized on time that there is some problem. However, we are facing another complication which means WHERE WE COULD CONTINUE SHOPPING like in The Grocery Group? From all those testimonies looks like N. Gaal operates under names of many different companies.
Who can suggest trusted name?

I see your post about Chambers.  They seem related and supply "other companies" with product and then buy the contract.  Ginger Hill sold us some product and the made a mistake a over double charged us. We called and could not get a hold of the salesmen, phone disconnected, email disconnected, website down.   They then did not deliver the other portion of the food.  We paid the for what we received however chambers wants the money they forwarded this guy even though we told him the total amount was a mistake and we did not receive what we supposed to get.  The whole bunch of the are scam artists.

They will rip you off, we are paying 5500 for food that did not last even 6 months, and it is supposed to be for a whole year, some of the meat was old, they bring more of the ground beef because it's cheap meat, so what the hell am I paying for 5500 to have cheap meat, when I asked them they didn't have an answer. The sales rep tricked us and said we can cancel whenever we wanted, well that's not true, and when asked she claims she never said that, we also called them several times and they never returned our calls. I will never order from them again, I warn you stay away from Chambers Food Service.
