Received a voice mail today from a Thomas Bradley who did not state his company name and said he was providing notice of intent to serve and then gave what I believe to be a bogus case number.  He said  this was "concerning the person and personal property of (my name) and that it is stongly advised that me, my spouse, or representing legal counsel is advised to make immediate contact with him at TOLL FREE at (855) 248-4369 axt. 9818.  Since when is 855 a toll free number????? Maybe it is but after reading what other people posted I believe it to be a scam as well but I will have my "legal counsel" contact them and see where that gets us.  I recommend not giving out any information to these people.  If they have your phone number and it is legit then they will be the ones to be able to verify information.  Scammers always try to "phish" by forcing you to "verify" YOUR information and that is how they get more personal info about you.  It is your right to ask questions!

They called threatening litigation right away. I told them the card was closed in 2000 and they told me it was opened in October of 2001.  I was told by the credit card institution to not give them anymore information. And they never even told me how much the debt was.  They also rattled off my social security number, address, and think birth date.  Now shouldn't they be asking me what that is rather then telling me?  Just food for thought.

Same Scam from 425-670-8405 replies to NotTheOne
The same scam, different extension (2898) and a bogus account number. Since I have never been married, when the caller "REGUS" called to ask to speak to personal representative, power of attorney or spouse, I knew it was bogus.

Even if I owed someone money some time ago, in New York State, the statute of limitations for any such alleged debt expired ages ago.

Thanks for writing about Goins and the scam he perpetrated on his own workers! One of the websites refers to consumer rights, see link below!

I got a call from them on may 17, 2012 stating I owed 19,995 on an old credit card and that they are conducting a property search and going to sue me.  Funny thing is this account was closed in 1998.  Texas only has a 4 year SOL.  The they gave me a 855 number to call back.  I am not wasting my time.  But my lawyer that handled the case in 2005 is going to get in touch with them.  They have violated several Fair Debt Collecting Laws.  We need to put them out of BIZ for good.

I got the same call threating a law suit and they stated they were doing a property search on me.  well guess what, THEY VIOLATED the law.  So my lawyer will be filling against them.  DO NOT LET THEM SCARE YOU INTO PAYING OLD DEBET.  Look into your states statue of limitations on debt collections.  Texas is only 4 years.

I've recieved 2 calls from this number.  They have my whole social security number and say I owe $4000. due to a Discover card.  They say they will take my bank accounts, etc.  I had Discover in the 80's and owe nothing to them.  What do I do with these people?  Seems silly I would have to pay for an Attorney.  Any suggestions?

Just got yet another call from these people.  Called a couple of months ago asking for someone who doesn't live here and don't know.  I let the answering machine pick up just now and a woman started blah, blah, blah about notice of litigation for the person, case number, blah, blah, blah.  I cut it off in the middle.  Crazy nuts will do anything to badger and intimidate.  If the guys who run these scams put as much effort and money into doing something legit, everyone would be better off.   From other situations similar to this, if you ignore them and do nothing then they will eventually go away.  They have no legal rights to anything...and since it is all a scam we can assume there will be no law suits or litigations.  Just an attempt to brow beat unknowing people into giving up their personal info and getting money out of them.  Sadly, elderly people and others who don't know about such things often get involved and lose their life savings because they are afraid.

The man keeps lowering the amount they say my husband owes if we will give are bank card number to them over the phone. They went from 2,533.00 down to 795.00 but I had to agree to give the back account info. When I told this man I was not giving my bank account info.  to him he put a women on the phone who told me she was the manager and I need to scratch all the info the guy gave me and listen to her because shes the manager. What she must not of known is the man had said he spoke with the boss to get an ok on all the amounts he was giving me. I would like to know if there is away to stop these people from doing this.

I just got a call from them and when I told them that I cannot give  my banking information on the phone and they would have to send me a letter, he got very rude and insulting.  When I waited for him to supply me with the information that he said he had of me, he very rudely asked me if I had amnesia and why I can't remember my information.  He told me of a huge payment I supposedly made on my vehicle two years after I lost my vehicle.  When I did not respond to him telling me I made an $18000 payment he asked me if I had amnesia.  Name calling and arguing with a client and threatening them were all signs that it was some sort of scam.  When he told me he is a million dollar company and would not care about my payments, I definitely realized I was dealing with someone uncouth.  That is what brought me to this site and I am glad I did. I am still waiting on the email I told him to send me.

A few months ago, I received a phone call from this company and their intentions were to try to collect on an alleged debt that had allegedly transpired when I was married.  Now, 14 yrs later, this company is "still" attempting to collect on alleged debt.  I told them a few months ago to cease & desist calling my home number and that if they would send something to me in writing (I provided my current address) that I would gladly respond.  Now, a few months later, still have never received anything in the mail that I could respond to.  Today, I received a phone call, from the same company in regards to the same "alleged" debt.  (The rep also did not identify who he was nor what company he was attempting to collect on behalf and also began threatening to file suit against me).  When I attempted to tell the guy repeatedly that I was no longer obligated under federal & state laws to pay any alleged debt that he claimed I owed, he kept talking over me & I got really rude with him & advised him that I was aware of federal & state laws regarding debt collection & told him to cease & desist, yet again, from contacting me via telephone & to send me something in writing.  He disconnected the call.  Not 5 minutes later, I get another phone call from the same number & lo & behold, it was the same guy trying to portray that it was it was the previous guy's supervisor.  I reiterated that I knew what my rights were, that I would be filing a complaint with the FTC and to cease & desist from contacting me via telephone and provided my mailing address for written correspondence.  I got confirmation from him that he understood what I meant by cease & desist...bid him a good day & hung up!  Now, I'm on my way to the FTC website to report the company!  (The f*cker doesn't even know that I worked in the legal field for the past 15 yrs, dealing with dumbasses like him!!!)

They keep calling my mother (who has dementia) about a fake debt from 15 years ago.  She's really bent out of shape about it.  They tried calling me for a while, but got tired of leaving voicemails (which I quickly deleted).  I haven't lived at home for 15 years either so they seem to keep calling listing with my name or similar til they find someone who is literally crazy enough to listen to their spiel.
