Its Scotiabank. That number called me also, its fraud, they will get you to give them your card number to "verify"

It is really the Scotiabank. In my case, It's the security department who made a verification to be sure that was really me who  have made a big payment by email.  I did not answer the call and they give me a phone number to call back (800-813-6602)

It's legit.. just look up scotiabanks number and call them back and they'll sort you out.

Its a legite no. I called back scotia as my credit card was showing negative credit available on my account and my card was stolen in the morning. He confirmed they had sent a automatic call and the negative credit on my account is to protect me. The call actually helped me stop any more transactions by the thief as he was using the tap on my credit card.

No, its not. I called back scotia on their web site customer care to confirm. The call actually stopped the thief who was using my stolen credit card from misusing it.

Definitely not legit. Called Scotia right after and they told me the number wasn't theirs. Scotia security calls from 1-800 numbers.

Fraud! The number called me and advised to call 18004SCOTIA. Instead, I called Scotiabank Card and they told me it was 'Fishing'

So, this actually IS the automated scotiabank system. It'll ask you to key in your postal code on the numpad and tell you what charge they're unsure about and press 1 to confirm it or 2 to deny it. After pressing 2 it'll forward you to ScotiaBank Bank Card Security. You can hang up and call the number on the back of your credit card instead and they can connect you to the Bank Card Security dept.

DONT CALL 18004SCOTIA; that number is only for bank accounts and your debit card and they can't see any security notes on your credit cards.

Legit Number. I just made a big payment using my line of credit and they called to confirm, did not ask any personal information, they asked for me by full name and confirmed generic information to 'verify' my payment was legit. Nothing phishy about them.

Received a voice msg saying it's Scotia Bank asking that I call back giving a certain file reference number.  I don't have and never have had a Scotia Bank acct. Sounds phishy to me.

Scam. They even had my wife name. Before this call I had a telemarketing call asking for survey. I told them this phone is on a do not call list she hung up. Then few min later this scam call can't say they not relate.  So careful this other phone 416-800-8938

yes this really IS Scotiabank - Credit/Debit Card Security - DO return this call - but use 1-800-813-6602 instead of the 437-836-4000 number. Thanks Diane for your Aug 2016 post.

I got this call early in the morning and they left no voicemail. Caller id said scotiabank. I called scotiabank back at their 1-800 number and they said they had no record of the call and told me it may be a scam.

This was an automated call asking me to confirm a 40 cent charge on my visa. When. I chose 2 to say it was not my charge a person came on and asked for my name. I told her she called me so she should know my name she said she understood and to call the number on the back of my card to verify. I did call and this is not a Scotia bank number. They told me that Scotia bank NEVER uses automation to call their customers sounds like. Phishing

It’s Scotiabank. I received a call from this number this morning and I didn’t pick up. It left a voicemail said there is a issue about my account and give me a number to call back. I call the number show on the back of my bank card, the representative said it’s maybe the fraud department who is calling me and the representative transfer me to the fraud department. The fraud departments said they did call me this morning.

It's FRAUD.I got the call from this number on June 28,2018.She pretended to work with Scotia bank and asking my son to call them back.She said her first name is Mary and gave me a 1-800 number but refused to disclose her last name when I asked it.I told her my son does not have a Scotia bank account and how do I know if you are Scotia employee,the she hang up the phone.
