Please delete my posting as below because I misunderstood the situation and my son applied Scotia bank card or something later on.Sorry.My apologies.Thanks.

It's FRAUD.I got the call from this number on June 28,2018.She pretended to work with Scotia bank and asking my son to call them back.She said her first name is Mary and gave me a 1-800 number but refused to disclose her last name when I asked it.I told her my son does not have a Scotia bank account and how do I know if you are Scotia employee,the she hang up the phone.

I had a problem with my online account for 8 days: Access denied. Called Scotia and they would fix it but the next day same message. Finally I sent an email to the President of Scotiabank email account. I received a call from 1378364000 and It was definitely Scotia Bank Head office, Office of the President. They resolved the problem in 2 days. My account is back on. Very nice employees that dealt with me. They had their IT department resolve it.

This is not Scotia Bank's number. I called Scotia Bank to ask if they call customers using that number and they said NO, that its a phishing number and not to answer or provide any information to the caller. If you want to find out about your account call SCOTIA BANK DIRECTLY using the number provided on their website.

I also had the call from that number and it is authentically from Scotiabank. Cuz I made a huge balance transfer today and they well called me after that.

Some contradictory posts here - seems wise to be careful what info you confirm or offer.  Remember that numbers and names can be spoofed in your caller ID. If unsure, call your bank on a number you know is good.

Definitely Indian scammer from Toronto. He was so rude and was asking for my credit card number. Am I stupid?

What makes you think that he was in Toronto?
