Just received the same emails from this scammer. Also using the Swedish story, going by the name 'Nielsen Bryent.'  By the time the "My mom is going into surgery now, so here is a poem about Canada" part of his scam was delivered to my inbox, I knew something was up and Ggoogle searched the poem, which produced this forum. Man am I glad I did. Seems this scam has been operating for years! Using different names and countries of origin.  The funniest part of his scam efforts came when he left a phone message and spoke to me over skype, attempting a Swedish accent, which gradually deteriorated into a british one.  After discovering what his future emails would read like ( Discovering his sick mother was scheduled to die shortly - would send a fake check for too much money, and ask for the excess balance to be mailed to his 'shipper' ) I decided i'd preempt his email with one of my own, beating him to the punch by having my own mother die at the same time he was preparing to email me about his imaginary mothers tragic end.  ...I'm sure he was devastated on my behalf and tempted to send me his condolences and money to ease my suffering. ( sarcasm )   What a scumbag.  I wish there were authorities who would actually care enough to catch this kind of crook.

I don't expect to be hearing from him again.  And from the sounds of it, a lot of people catch on to this scam before falling for its intended end.  Thank goodness.  I feel terrible for all the truly honest trusting people out there who get abused by this crap.

We're renting a room in Vancouver and this guy responded.He's gone from Spain to Sweden. Not sure whether it's Nelson or Nielson as his email is Nelson but he signed his name Nielson.

Hi Anil, these are all Nigerian Scammers, too many scams in UK, so please stay away from such people dont even bother to respond to them.

Same story same guy.  Even provides the name of his shipper.  Nielsen Bryent, from Sweden, 27 years old.  Thank goodness I googled his name.  Thanks all of you for posting this it helps stop these scum bags!

OMG, I just got scammed by the same guy called Nielsen Bryent. And I sent her my address and full name already. Is the damage done already? what am i supposed to do?

I just received the same email from 'Nielsen" an hour after I had posted my rental ad. He never care to ask for pictures of the place so that was a red flag for me. This morning, I asked for his employer's contact number so I could arrange things on my end....he never bother to email back. Hah! I was glad I listened to my gut instinct:)

So He tried it with me as well, I had had a feeling something was wrong right away but kept it going, I actually got the cheque. I looks good, I could not tell it was a fraud.
-cheque is from CICB in Brampton Ontario with Campus living centers inc in Kingston Ontario, this bank and campus do exist, I checked,
Name and Address on the envelope that sent the cheque is Amanda Surrez, 33 Manhester ave. Toronto Ontario, M6G 1V4 (that also is a real address)
I have called RCMP and reported this, they have given me an Agency in Toronto to call on Monday
