Advertised on gumtree and recieved interest from Greg Hayes from this number. i have copied a portion of his scam below, when we didnt give out our bank details he went for the paypal option we then just refused sale.

Recieved call from IMDb giving me a Pin number which is not needed.

I received an sms message, in english, about UK mobile awards that invites me to send an email.
and that my cellular (strange because its italian cell) was selected by uk mobile awards.

the only thing I did before was that I bought some credit for my skype account

The message told me that :

TMT confirm that your transaction has been paid out in ROMANIA on 15 Mar 2012 10:14:05 local time. ?[13B

But I'm Italian and I Don't know anything about this number, the transaction and Romania!!!

It's a scam . lots of calls to numbers in the republic of Ireland . they are looking for mugs to provide them with bank acc details so that they can rip them off . Probably nigerians up to their dirty tricks again. DONT BE FOOLED ....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

I received a sms from that number & asking to contact j.russell580@gmail.com. Apprently he is a rip off scammer asking for bank details to deposit money into an account.

hi ive been trying to sell my  car in australia, brisbane.. and this number messaged me wanting to buy it, with the name john ? I think he is a scammer ? he said some agent wanted to pick up the car and wanted my details to put money in my bank ..

This guy "john" as he calls himself wants to buy my veichle from gumtree aswell.

Same deal....vehicle advertised on Gumtree and Ebay.  Two messages from this number, one from John Russell and one from John Woodhouse.  He gave me a number 08 8919 8637 to call him on....dodgy.....stay away! Forward your emails to the police.

Got the exact same emails over the last few days as we are selling our car on ebay.  'John Woodhouse' (johnwoodhouse@gmail.com) told us he is in Malaysia and wrote pretty much word for word the email above.  SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!!!

I did try today, but the SMS failed.
I know they got my number for a free ad, I placed advertising my car.
