I got a call from ATT 469-286-9841 today and since I am retired and had time to play, I decided to play with the caller for a while since he had asked for me by name. He began by telling me that he was calling from Axis Technical Support and since my computer had stopped getting Microsoft security updates and he was contacted by Microsoft to help resolve my computer problems. He began by wanting me to do Run www.fixme.it in Windows Run to give him remote access to my computer. I told him that since I have four (a lie - I have only two) computers, but none that was on, and need him to be able to identify which of my computers had the problem, because they all were getting their updates normally from Windows and the anti-virus software. And I also needed him to be able to provide a Windows ID so I could check the error logs to pin point which computer had the problem before I can give him remote access to my computer. After an extended dialogue with me refusing to give him access, due to my security concerns about providing remote access to an unknown and unsolicited incoming caller, he finally provided me with 888bca69fc0a11cf8f0f00c04fd7d060 as an  ID number. Of course I made him stop and repeat each and every letter and number two or three times to make sure I got it right, by repeating them back to him incorrectly several times each.
I finally told him that I would look at all four of my computers to identify the one that is having problems and call him back, but I agreed to turn one of them on so he can walk me through where to look to find the problem he needed to fix. And then I insisted he provide a name, employee ID and contact information, he said his name was Austin Marsh, and represented himself as an employee of website www.axis.pchelp.com with a phone number of 844-768-4247. Then he wanted me to run msconfig to view the many stopped processes under the Services Tab so I could see why he called me. When I told him that nearly all of the stopped processes, were stopped by me to allow the computer to run more efficiently by disabling unneeded processes, he hung up on me without as much as a good-bye. I guess I had wasted his 40 minute call.

btw, I called the 844 number and when I explained the nature of my call was to verify whether the call was legitimate, whether they had an employee named A. Marsh,  and get more information about whether it was the nature of their business to make unsolicited calls, I got/was disconnected.

Received a call from this TX, number at 5:10 AM (!) this morning.  Caller ID showed only ATT.  I answered because I have a family member living in Texas.  A man (heavily accented English) kept saying nothing but "Allo, Allo" and I hung up on him.  I have blocked the number.  

I have received about 6 calls from this number in the last 2 days. I have a caller ID program thru YouMail on my phone and the number shows as Grand Prairie, TX and even gives me a name of Yolanda Maloney (picture too - all though they are not in my contacts) I have answered twice, have not spoke with a live human being any time. Two hellos and I drop the line. I have blocked the number, so hopefully the calls will stop.

I got the same call from 469-286-9841 stating something is wrong with my computer and as soon as I heard him say that I asked him to remove me from his list this is a business line. but he was pushy and preistant that my computer was infected and I repeated myself and asked him to stop calling and he said but your computer is infected and I said no it is not. He said do you have a computer and I just said no and hung up.

I have been getting these calls for months saying they are with the federal government. I have grant money waiting to be deposited in my bank account. I have asked to be taken off the list, have refused to give them anything. I told the man I wanted to be taken off the call list to be told he will call me every day, several times a day, forever!!

I just received a call from this number 469-286-9841.  I live in the same area code, so I answered.  A guy with a heavy accent told me that I was chosen to receive a grant from the US Government for $9,000.00.  I don't have to pay this back, I don't have to pay taxes on it, and I can use it for anything I want.  I am one of only 1700 LUCKY peole that the government chose to help out because I have never field bankruptcy, blah blah blah.  I listened (although I usually slam the phone down).  He gave me a CF# and phone number to call in order to receive my money.  LOL.  I called the number he gave me from my work phone and some woman answered.  I just hung up!  I then called the phone number that he called me from and it said that the person that owns that phone is not accepting phone calls at this time - I bet!!
Someone needs to stop these fools.  It's not only annoying, it's a waste of time.  What do they get out of it?  I don't get it.  They must spend countless hours making these random phone calls - and for what?  Someone PLEASE put a stop to this!!!

Stop Calling my phone scammers and telemarketer [***]! I do not answer calls I do not recognize PERIOD! Report these calls after signing up on the federal "Do not call list."

I've been asking to cancel my number and keep calling

Got the call today. Had him believing he was really installing his malware on my computer, for about 5 min or so. Telling him something just isn't doing the thing he asked me to do. He started to have a little variation in his tone, kind of like he was getting perturbed with me.  The whole time I knew his intent and then when we were about to go over the whole procedure the 4th time, and he asked me to push the windows button, I responded "there's the problem, I have a apple key not a windows key" he hung up.

Now the thick accented guy is claiming to be from your credit card company and wants to know if you are aware of a $900 purchase currently being made. When you say "no" he says he will cancel the transaction but for safety, he needs to temporarily cancel your card.  He asks for your permission to do that.  If you say "yes" then he asks for your credit card number.  

Watch out for this guy.  The caller ID says ATT.  

He did it to me.  I told him he had a wrong number and he said no he didn't he calling about my computer.

Have been called multiple times by this number . Is not accepting return calls, leaves no voicemail.

Guy with Thick Indian accent trying to get me to accept him onto my computer asked if I was having Microsoft issues- I asked to speak with an American and he said all the techs were busy. I asked for his call back number so my computer guy could call him back and he hung up. Tried calling the  number back and it doesn't take calls. Total SCAM!!

This number claimed to be a govermnent collection agency from Washington DC. Ironically, the caller ID says Texas.

I received a call from this number with picture attached.  Yolanda Maloney or similar.  I did reverse phone look up and it is a cell phone in Belle Glade, Fl.  She said she was concerned with my recent bladder surgery, which I've never had.  Then she asked a bout other surgeries and then if I was suffering from  depression.  I told her I didn't need anything she had to offer.  I just totally ignore ALL NUMBERS THAT HAVE NOT GOT A Name showing on ID.  Where are these people coming from????  So aggravating!!!!!

Yep he tried it with me also....the call number he wanted  was listed as a land line in NY.  His thick Indian accent made him hard to understand.  I am 60 but not old enough for someone like that to pull one over on me.

Could this be a one-man scam operation?  I got the call a little while ago and I too held on for about half an hour trying to verify some shred of truth in what he was saying.  This time the thick-accented dude was using Austin Cooper for name, still from Axis Technical Support, "the sole technical support contractor for Microsoft for over 15 years.."  Yeah, whatever.  Said he was calling from their home office in Houston TX.  Not Seattle?  The phone number he called from was 917-200-9422 which is a NYC area code.  He welcomed me to check out his story and call him back at 844-768-4247.  The Microsoft web page says neither they nor their affiliates make unsolicited phone calls...
