Keep receiving calls from 503-605-8776 with the caller ID WELLS FARGO BANK. **I AM NOT A WF CUSTOMER** -  I answer and there is no one there. When I do not answer, they do not leave a message. I hit redial on the number and it brought me to the Wells Fargo Overdraft department where I spoke with someone who asked for my number. I gave it to them - she ran a look-up and said that they didn't have my number in their database to make the calls. I asked them to stop regardless, and she said that they can't remove my number if it isn't there in the first place. Sending a complaint to FCC.

They've been calling me several times a day for the past few weeks on my cell phone, but I didn't recognize the Caller ID, which just showed the number, with the City and State showing Beaverton, OR, so I kept tapping ignore on my iPhone screen.

Finally, today, I got tired of them calling but not leaving a message, so I answered just to see what, if anything, they'd say. They asked to speak to my ex, who is currently incarcerated. I didn't feel that was any of their business, so I said he was unavailable at this number, a response which was rudely and promptly dealt with via a dial tone in my ear.

My Ex and I have a joint account @ Wells Fargo, which is now in Overdraft status so whoever called very well could have been calling from WF, but I find it weird that when I said my Ex was unavailable at this number that they didn't then ask to speak with me since we're both on the account that's Overdrawn. Oh well.

True but when you tell them you can't get the money because you have recently moved they decide to call twice as much and much more aggressively. I block 19 calls from them daily from different staff members using the same number.

I have started getting calls recently from this number. I do not know who they are. But I do not have a Wells Fargo account. Never have. I have them on ignore because I do not want to talk to them. Next time I might and answer just to see who they say they are. But they have called 4 times already today. And it is a Saturday.

I can't believe how many stupid and paranoid people exist in this country. Most of the people posting on this thread have overdraftes but want to cry "it's a scam" if you have never banked with Wells Fargo then pick up and tell them that they have the wrong number so the calls stop (are you really that stupid). The reason they don't leave messages is because they can't. By law a debt collector can only talk to the person in debt unless they have express permission. They could leave a general message but let's face it you would know what it was about so you wouldn't call them back. As far as "Wells Fargo never heard of that number" how many numbers does a local branch have? 15 to 20? How many of them are direct lines that people know? Maybe half? Now do you really think some customer service rep is going to know an automated outbound line on a T1 with all the hundreds of thousands of phone lines Wells Fargo has throughout the country? Grow up, answer the call and take care of your stuff.

Yes it is....  I got the same calls and called in to the Fraud Dept. Then they connect me to the Overdraft/Collections Dept who confirmed that they were calling because of my account being overdrawn for over 30 days.

    Fed up with the Paranoia
People PLEASE STOP putting up these posts that this is a scam. This one actually is NOT a scam. I called in TOO to the Fraud Dept at Wells Fargo after getting a few calls over 2 days. Each time I got the call I answered and there was dead silence. So I finally called it back. I too was taken aback when they answered that it was Wells Fargo. The agent asked me for my entire social security number, which is what raised a flag with me and I told her I wouldn't give my social over the phone. She then told me I could go into any branch to discuss the nature of the call with any banker. So I immediately called the Fraud Dept at Wells Fargo. The agent was very nice and told me that no this isn't one of their numbers but it MAY be a number from their collections dept.  So she put me on hold and then came back on the line with another agent. And low and behold it WAS in fact the collections department at Wells Fargo calling from that 503 number. I have an account with them that I am in the process of closing. But prior to me putting the freeze hold on the account, I gave them a list of what transactions I was still expecting on it. But unfortunately, Wells Fargo still allowed other transactions that I didn't authorize on that account, which then got returned because of the block I put on it. So then Wells Fargo added on RETURN fees, etc...  So it ends up the account I was trying to close was overdrawn because of fees THEY added on for transactions THEY weren't supposed to process on that account. I have the claim in already, but the collections department doesn't have access to see if you have a claim pending. So they WILL still call you if your account has been overdrawn for over 30 days. So YES this is a legitimate caller from Wells Fargo. HOWEVER, the call may not be for you. But the fact that the call may not be FOR YOU doesn't mean its a scam. If you get calls from this number, you simply have to tell the caller if the person they are looking for is not at your number. Please realize that a wells fargo account holder may have previously had your phone number and never updated it, or may have just passed it off as theirs.Simply tell the Wells Fargo caller if the person they are looking for is not YOU!!  But again this is NOT a scam, just Wells Fargo calling people who have accounts that have been overdrawn for over 30 days. NOT A SCAM.

This IS Wells Fargo...  and the only reason they are calling is BECAUSE OF  your overdraft.  You cannot call the customer service line. They have NUMEROUS call centers in NUMEROUS different states and countries. So how can you expect for anyone of their reps to recognize one of THOUSANDS of different phone numbers and phone lines Wells Fargo has.  Just call in to the Fraud dept and they will connect you immediately to collections dept that will confirm they were calling you.

In the state of Virginia that is called Harrassment calling multiple times a day. We can actually file charges on that company. Just FYI.. Something that company needs to look into... You could lose a lot of money doing that. Most companies are too stupid to think of that type of things. The more you do that, the more you possibly may get a lawsuit.

I have been getting repeated calls from this number. I called the # back, but from my house phone and it does say that it's Wells fargo and to please hold for a rep. Only thing that sparked me as odd is the gentleman asked for a full account # and social security #. That is usually never needed to verify an account. I have NEVER had an acct with Wells Fargo or any of their sister companies. When I told him I refused to give him any info and that I've never had an account he asked for my # and said he would take me off the list. I would be VERY VERY careful with this. It doesn't add up.

Maybe it is a scam because I've already called and spoke with Wells Fargo's overdraft department myself and made a payment plan before this number started calling me.
THIS is the number Wells Fargo told me to call when I log into my online banking: (877) 647-8551. THAT is their overdraft dept. number.... I don't know about (503) 605-8776. If I already resolved my issue with them and they took notes and everything, why would they still try to reach me? And with a different number? Sounds suspicious.
