I just got a call from 514-577-5000.  The guy said he was from the Minister of Justice and trying to find the phone number of a near-by address, asked it I knew the neighbour, if a Mrs. Soandso was living there.  I said "I wouldn't know."  He said bye and hung-up.  Very suspicious, I googled the number and found this page.

I received two calls from this number, one at 2:29 a.m. and one at 2:30 a.m. i woke up in the morning terrified that someone I knew had died or something. I don't know anyone who uses Distributel, so I'm thoroughly confused as to what this could be.

my son sent me a text that someone from this number just tried to call him on his cell (514) 877-5000   Thankfully he did not answer, it is a phone number that comes back to Canada.   How do we get them blocked, and if you answer does a charge appear on your bill?  I do not have caller ID at home.

C'est un numéro distributel.  Quelqu'un qui appelle par interurbain.
On ne sait pas qui a réellement appelé.  Utilisable pour emmerder les autres,
pour du télémarketing ou bien pour appeler un ami à moindres frais.

Get a call from 514 877 5000, luckilly I pick up the phone it was a friend from Quebec with a phone call plan, but I get a lot another marketing phone call. I will try to pick up if I feel able to talk and if it,s not a friend I will try to get a name or to ask my name remove from stupid commercial phone list. Unfortunatly for this phone call if you know some friends who use phone call plan they can call you with number ID. The only solution more we will complaint better we will have a chance to have a changement VIVE LA REVOLUTION disait certain.

My work cell phone just rang with this number showing on the caller ID.  I didn't recognize it so did not answer.  They didn't leave a message.  In general, I'm very suspicious of 1-800 or 1-877 numbers calling me at work since almost all real companies call with a real phone number.  Only telemarketers, etc ... call with these numbers.  Even my company has a 1-800 number (to call into) but a regular number shows up on the ID if we call other people.

I just received a call from this number. I answered. It was regarding the service of a delivery I had received last week from Future Shop. Pleasant Lady, didn't ask for any personal information - just if delivery was on time, if the delivery guys were nice, if they removed the packaging afterwards.

They had called me at preciseley 9:35am and I was asleep. I woke up and checked my phone and saw this number. I thought it was a friend that had just received a cell phone so I texted back. I received a text back from Telus Mobility saying "Message was succesfully delivered to an answering system at phone number 514-877-5000." My father earlier yesterday received a strange call asking about insurance, my father figured out it was a scam for fraud. DO NOT answer your phone if you see this number, if you do, they will see that your number is active and they will keep phoning back. Take care everyone.

they just called me.. some survey.. I sad NO i don't want to take a part .. guy told me it's just 5 minutes (just..) i said NO and hung up.

Who ever called don't respect National no call list.. because my number is there so he didn't have any right to call me!

those people call me @ 11am and even @ 4am!!!!!!!!!!!! to offer sport accessories from telemarketers,wtf???

I got a call at 240 am and answered sleepily. The girl was french and when i told her she had the wrong number just paused for a long time. then I hung up.

 PAIN IN THE BUTT!  I EVEN TRIED TO CALL THE NUMBER BACK TO SEE WHO THE H IT WAS, TO GET NOTHING BUT A DIALTONE AFTER THE CALL WENT THROUGH WITH SOME WOMAN SPEAKING FRENCH AND THEN IN ENGLISH SAID THAT IT TOOK TOO LONG FOR THE CALL TO GO THROUGH OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT!  
 THIS IS CLEARLY A SCAM.  IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED THAT IT IS THE NUMBER FOR DISTRIBUTEL, WHICH DOESN'T EVEN APPLY TO MOST OF CANADA, FOR A NEW PHONE CARRIER!
 SO, NEXT TIME YOU GET ONE, REPORT IT TO THE AUTHORITIES AND YOUR PHONE CARRIER. THEY CAN TAKE ACTION AGAINST THEM IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE.  OR GO TO THEIR WEBSITE, CLICK ON CONTACT US AND TELL THEM TO STOP CALLING YOU AND KEEP A COPY OF IT TO GIVE TO THE AUTHORITIES!

They just called me and hung up when I answered.  Too bad as I like to cut these types of callers off, tell them they've called a law firm, and demand they remove our number from their master list.

This number call me, Not sure what they wanted.

I got a call from this number on May 3, 2009 but no one was there... I called the number back later and got a dial tone and then something in French, then English, which said I forgot to do something... the call came to my cell phone...

It's simply someone who tried to call you using Distributel (long distance service provider).  Could be a company or a individual.
