Caller asked if I have diabetes.  When I said, "No," she asked if I knew anyone who did, because they could have diabetes testing supplies and insulin delivered to the door for free.  So I gave her names and numbers of friends who did have diabetes, not thinking that this might be a scam.  Turns out at least one of those friends was asked for his SSAN.  Made me suspicious and now I'm trying to find out who these people are.

I am getting the exact same calls. Sometimes 3 times a day for weeks at a time.
Always from phone number 561-998-5656 somewhere in South Florida. This has to be a scam. Does anyone know how to put a stop to this?

My husband got a call from this number this A.M. telling him they could supply all his diabetic supplies at no charge.  The caller (male) knew my husband's name and said he was referred by someone named "Joe".  The caller said this organization had a website, but my husband did not write down the URL so I have not been able to check it out.  I started by Googling the  phone number and now find that it may be a scam.  I will keep investigating.

I spoke to a woman from Christian DIabetic network. She got my number from my neighbor Betty. They were able to help me save money and deliver my diabetic supplies. I do not have to pay any money out of pocket and they are a pleasure to deal with. These people are wonderful!

Christian Diabetic Network.   "Stephanie" told me they were a group of churches.   She said they get our names from doctors who report patients with diabetes.  They call daily, so I have reported them to Do Not Call List, which I am on.

They are collecting money and I told them never to call me again and that they would be fined $25,000 for every call they make.

    A scam

Received this call just minutes ago from the Palm Beach or West Palm Beach, FL area.  Did not answer, as I don't know who it is.  I also am on DO NOT CALL register.  Maybe we should start reporting these people to the Federal Communications Commission, or the Federal Trade Commission.  It is CLEARLY UNSOLICITED!  Most likely a scam.  I believe there is a scam network, or several networks, operating in the US who are directly connected to scammers in Africa.  I believe they have established "phone networks" or "cell phone networks" here in the US.  I believe they use the "Forwarding Numbers" such as 011-44-70*-***-****, which they purchase and deceive their victims into believing they are in various other locations.  I fell victim to one of them!  They are well-trained, very well organized, intelligent (for the most part), some speak and write exceptional English and use perfect grammer.  The scammer I encountered said he was going to "take over" a cell-phone operation that was supposed to have started up the first of this year, supposedly in Ghana (Accra),Africa; however, the last email I was successful in getting him to write was traced to Alexandria and Arlington, VA by two separate software IP tracing tools.  I believe all of these phone calls we get from places like "Blue Ridge EMC", which is a "Call Center" are part of their operation.  There is also a phone number (no longer assigned to an individual in Perry, Ga), which displays "International Gateway".  This person used this phone number multiple times to "connect" with me.  I believe they get your money and launder it through countries like Accra, Ghana.  In the case of romance scams, I believe the "real scammer" may actually reside here, but uses a contact in Accra to receive money via Western Union.  The person I talked with sounded like he came from India.  When I finally discovered he was a fraud by talking to the State Dept, he said he was part Indian (his mother Indian and his father African).  Who knows.  BE CAREFUL!  They will do and tell you anything to get your money!!  And, their stories just keep "morphing"!  The easiest way to curtail their scamming is to JUST NOT ANSWER THE PHONE IF IT IS NOT SOMEONE YOU KNOW, AND ESPECIALLY IF IT'S AN UNSOLICITED CALL! If it's really a legitimate business, they will leave you a message and won't care if you challenge their license through the Better Business Bureau.

Got a call on 12/11/08 from he Christian Healthcare Network and the caller said they could get me a new small nebulizer for my COPD free of charge, they would only accept what my BCBS paid. The vials would be delivered to my house free of charge. She ( Cheryl 888-777-0737 ext. 4014) got my insurance info and Doctors info. She did ask for my SSN which I refused to give her. She said ok and that she would probably not need it. I would hear from a case worker soon and they might ask for it.  HHHHMMMMM. Could be true but sounds fishy. Clark Howard ( Consumer Advocate out of Atlanta ) has always said never, never, never give out your SSN on phone. Waiting to see what develops.

I received a phone call around 12/22/08 from this number.  The caller (a woman, no discernable accent) asked for me by name.  She said that they had gotten my name from a local (Decatur, GA) church and that they had been informed that someone at my home had a health problem and was in need of free medical supplies.  When I told them that no one at my home was ill, they said it must have been a mistake and quickly discontinued the call.  About two months ago, someone accessed my personal credit card information, and charges were put on my cards at businesses in New York, California and Australia.  I  had to cancel all of my cards, and I put a fraud alert on my credit report.  Now I am concerned that someone may be using my personal information to obtain medical services.  From reading the other comments here, I see that it could just be a more general scam. The real question, for me, is how they got my name and number in the first place.  Has anyone else had a recent issue with identity or credit card fraud?

I recieved a call from a Robert Kessler. He got my info from a website for diabetic blogging. He also gave me his info; Phone for company; 888-777-0737. E-mail rob@medcareinc.com.
I callced the company via the number he supplied a day later and posed as a potential new customer and basically interviews the person who answered: Jack Cannon: EXT 3012 (Customer Service)He had no knowledge of me having talked to teh Robert peroson and his story matched up. I asked if he was registered withthe Better Businness Bureua and he did not know. (they are not but, do have an entry: http://us.bbb.org/WWWRoot/SitePage.aspx?site= ... 76-e4df22e6f371 ).
I told him I would call back after giving this some thought.
I can't find a "gotcha", but I am going to roll the dice and move forward.
I did NOT give them any info but: my birthdate/ Dr.'s contact info/my phone number. the Robert Kessler did call me back and reported that my info went through and that I should be recieving my supplies shortly.
Both gentlemen did stress that the supplies have to be perscribed by my doctor and the deductable will be covered IF too high. The frequencey of the supplies being provided are based what ever the Dr. perscribes.

Just received my second call from this number.  I was told the same things as were reported by others on this site.  I let the person on the telephone know that I was on the do not call list and was looking at a web page that detailed information about their "organization."  I suggested that the caller immediately remove my name from their call list as I am on the No-Not-Call register, and also suggested that they google their calling number to see what others had to say about their organization.  The caller gave me a hesitant, "oooookaayyy" and I hung up.

I have reported this number to the FCC. They called me twice today. The first time I told them there was no one any where in my family with diabetes and I would like to be removed from their list and that I am on the do-no-call list the woman hung up on me. Just over an hour later they called me again.

I got this call this morning. Don't know how they got my name and number. When I said I did not have diabetes, they said it must have been a mistake. The woman was very polite but it still seems fishy. Do not give them ANY personal info.

I received a call the morning of Friday, Feb 27, 2009, from a fellow by the name of Joel at this number, 1-561-998-5656. He said he was in Florida. We engaged in friendly conversation about medical supplies.

He promised me the moon in medical supplies. He made offers too good to be true. Nebulizer, Insulin, blood testing device and test strips all free to me through my MEDICARE plan.

I did not provide him with any information other than my mailing address to send me a letter by USPS mail to verify the identity of the company. I am NOT going to hold my breath until I get a reply from him by any means. I feel uneasy about providing that much information.

He was insistant about getting my doctors name, which I refused to do. He gave me a toll free number, 1-888-777-0737 to call him back.

During the our conversation female voices could be heard in the background discussing Medicare with other call recipients. I knew it was a "boiler room" operation from that.

It went no furter than that. I felt very uneasy about the conversation because of all the scams going on by phone now days.

I have been harassed by this company for weeks.  Somehow they got my cell phone number (which is registered with the no-call list).  After several calls that I did not answer - I googled the number and contacted them myself.  I explained we were NOT interested in their product and Do Not Call this number again.  Guess what?  They continued to call - sometimes several times a day - I threated to report them to the Better Business Bureau - no changed.

I actually called this morning and left a message that I was reporting their company - they had the gall to call me back within 2 hours - I let them talk to my husband - who is an attorney.  They actually argued with him!!  They said that we *never answered our phone*.... he explained that was because their number showed up on my cell phone and I did not want to be charged for talking to them and I am not interested as I had told them previously....

I went to the FCC web-site and wrote a complaint about them.... I am going to research them online and report them to the Florida authorities and the Better Business Bureau.

I may have to end up getting my husband to write them a threatening letter on his office stationary.  I have NEVER dealt with a company like this.... an absolute nightmare......
