Btw,I have asked CRTC to speak to Canadian telecommunications companies.Have them BLOCK 10x0 numbers from getting transmitted. See IF CRTC will bother...

Other issue,telemarketers with  auto dialers.N.Am.telcos.should to try and trace*calls. Fine telemarketers,and or cut their service with whomever provides the pipe. End of the day,tier A carriers[ie.Bell,Telus] sell that pipe to smaller providers!

Cocoa,you don't want to block blocked numbers from calling you. Some people you WANT to speak to can be unlisted,ie.government[ie.CRA],police.

Received one call - "We recognize that you're a valued customer..." And then I hung up. I called them back but it returns a busy/disconnected signal

I'm in Canada and just got this one on my cell. My number's unlisted, which possibly means it's on the National Do Not Call List...a list that is insanely easy to get a hold of and (legally!) use as a phone book for off-shore companies.

If this is the case, I'm extremely pissed.

The # is a Verizon Landline # from Haymarket VA.

From Canada and what is up with calling my cell like that for no reason but what I am pissed about is the long distance charges they are going to bill me with...won't be much but that's  not the point...

Got a call on feb 16. After 5 seconds they ust hung up and when i tried calling back it was busy.

Received a call on my cell at 5:54 pm on Feb 16, did not answer, appears to be spam. My cell carrier is Telus, this is an unlisted number.

rec'd call from this number at 5:34pm Feb 17 local time, Toronto, Canada...also on the Telus network.  I missed the call, but it appears it's a good thing I missed it.

I got 2 calls in the last 2 days from this number. an automated voice said that I won a trip and that I have to press #1 to continue. I just hung up instead of getting screwed over. Anyone know what this is?

Ohh this is one of these telemarkiters that took the canadian do not call list and started calling people on there.

got a call 5 mins ago too, pressed 1 to get a person on the line, asked the name of the company - asked why they were calling because i'm on the DNC - i THINK she said 'don't you want to know about your free trip to cancun mexico' - told her i wanted a manager immediately - she hung up on me.
IF anyone takes the call again - press 1 for a person - then be as POLITE as possible and do not lead on that you are on the DNC - I should have thought of it myself - Act like you just can't understand them and need to speak to someone who speaks good english......i wish that was the excuse i used first - then you can sucker all the appropriate information out of them. like, who they are representing, and then they CAN be tracked down and fined.

Yep they're still calling.  It was to my work phone.  Not impressed.  Didn't answer, no message left.  Did not try to call.
