I would really like to know how these [***] are getting our private cell phone numbers as well!

i've been getting a lot of these. i just ignore them all. thank goodness for caller id.

received a call about 2 hrs ago.  my cell phone is seldom used however I did list it on an item for sale on craigslist

I got the call today, it was an American accent recording, "you and your family has won a free vacation, please press 1" i hung up. That call was today and I live in Toronto, Canada.

This is everyone's fault. The do not call list enables illegitimate international marketers to call these lists legally. In addition, one should not answer their phone if they do not recognize the area code of the number. By doing so, one confirms the existence of their phone number to the caller. These calls are systematically dialed to cover all possible numbers. Those that are not active or do not respond are removed. It is a type of phishing by trawling. The active numbers are sifted. The active numbers are sold to data mining companies.

Fight back passively.

Do not enroll in "do not call" lists.
Do not answer phone calls from strange numbers

If you wish to vent:

Call them from a land line public phone if it's a toll free number or via *67 (1167 for goat phone lines) at home so that your number displays as "private number" on their system and harass them!

got a call today. did not answer & glad I didn't! in victoria, bc on telus. first time I have receieved a call from this #.

Just got a call from this number on my cell. They did not leave a message and when I called back,it was long distance.
On www.411.ca reverse look up, the number comes from Haymarket,VA.
My cell number is also on the do not call list, but they still get through!!!!

Just got a call as well... On my Cell-Im virgin mobile. I didnt answer it... I get more and more and more calls ever since I put my number on the do not call list... Thanks do not call list, for nothing!

just got this call an hour ago. picked up like an idiot (my apartment is up online for subletting so I need to pick up all calls) and it simply said "You have been selected for a free vacation for you and your family, press 1 now to learn more". Then it waited about 2 more seconds and hung up on me. My phone said it came from Virginia area code.

Just ignore the # from now on everybody.

Btw, got the call on my cell, never put my # on the D.N.C. list though.

I keep receiving these calls at all times of the day. i want them to stop....................Got a busy signal when i called back

Just got two on my cell.  It's been happening for a month and driving me insane.  On Telus.

From canada, and I got a call from this.  Hilarious.

Both my husband and I are getting calls from this number... it seems like most people that get them are from Canada... which makes me wonder how we got thrown in the mix... if anyone figures it out please post...

In Calgary, Alberta.  Just got this call on my work telephone, a voice recording of an English (British) lady saying my family had been selected to for a free vacation or something and to press '1', the call then vut itself off.

From Canada but in Florida for winter ... just got the call on my cad cell but did not answer
