This number is used by Skype which means the call could be from just about anyone using the Skype service.  Because a lot of scam type calls come through on this number, I always let it go to voice mail and see if they leave a message.

I call on my skype phone from NYC to Vancouver and the recipient says this number shows up - so it is a skype internet phone so they can be calling you from anywhere.

This number used to call me about a year ago. Usually I would hear just breathing, or someone saying hello. Then one time the person called me by my name and called me a "little [***]" and sounded extremely angry. After that they didn't call again until last night at 1:55am. They asked for me by name. I said "who is this?" They asked if my boyfriend was there with me (using his name) and i said yes. I asked again who it was and the guy said "James". He sounded really high or something. It was totally messed up.

this call is a questionaire about how my post secondary education experience is like and blahblahblah the lady said its part of the ministry of advanced education stuff, i donno if its true or not, but they know my name thats scary!!!

My mom got a call from this number at 7 30 am the guy found her online as she has a home based business...asked her if she was the one in shiney stockings on a company website....called her at home which means he did a bit of research to get her home phone number.

I can second the comment from Ian.  This is a number that is used through Skype.  So some of you may have received legit calls that had technical problems, others probably got calls from spammers using Skype.  I just got a call from a friend on Skype through this number.

I received a call from this #, 604-602-9478 @ 1:28pm today and an automated voice program answered when I said "hello" it responded "this is not a solititation, this is an important business call from our office. you are requested to call our office on..." at that point I hung up.
Recently I joined the "iOptOut.ca" program to keep people from harrassing me with telemarketing scams, and now I am getting more calls of late than ever...

This guy is calling early morning. M**** F****

I dont know who the hell is this guy.

Said I was overdue on a bill payment so I gave him my VISA card number to complete the payment and I haven't heard back from them thank goodness.

Just got a call from some guy from this number asking for "Alex" - which isnt me. I hung up. First time call.

I also got a call and clearly heard someone hang up when I listened to the message as I didn't pick up.  After readin all these comments decided to call back & absolutely no # is apparently assigned .. WEIRD!

Okay. I just recieved a call from the same number. If someone above says it is from skype I am inclined to believe them. Reason being is I didnt pick up and instead the person left a message on my voice mail. In my voice mail it was my girl friend calling from Japan. I called the number back and it of course was not in service. I think the number is just some sort of intermediary that connects long distance callers to local calls making it seem like it is a local call. Hope that solves the above comments

In addition tot he above comment, if in fact this number is used for many things including scams, I would still be cautious. Perhaps this number is used for many uses regardless of the intent.

I got a call from this number on Sunday March 29, 2009 at 4:26PM.  I did not recognize the number, so I did not answer.

3rd call (2nd in 2 days) asking for Alex - no idea who this is or what they want.

Got a call from this number, but my phone was on vibrate so I missed it. Decided to look up the number before calling back, and found this site. This is a little creepy... especially if they have our names. I am not going to answer this number ever. Is there any way we can block this number?
